Tim, Great choice and I am happy to see Darton get so much recognition this year. I have been shooting the Sequel 33 ST2 and the hold and balance is amazing. I personally think the Darton 35 ST is the bow of the year for 2025 and I am stoked to see how well you do with it. I shoot and prefer Bowtech, but Darton knocked it out of the park this year.
Core sr shits on the Darton i haven’t shot the proven but im surprised what he said about vibration The core sr and the matthews were neck and neck when i shot them
@ That wasn't the case for me at all. I have the SR350, so the Core SR felt very familiar, but that Darton held and shot much better than the SR. If you compared it to the Proven, that is apples to apples, but I would still take the Darton simply because they offer 80#. As for vibration, I am one of those guys that could care less what minimal vibration a bare bow has when I shoot them. It doesn't effect my shot at all and any vibration from any modern bow can be mitigated with dampeners and stabs.
Been shooting Mathew’s sence the mq1 , just switched to the elite ethos and absolutely love it .Mathew’s has some catching up to do with them 70 to 90 % let off ,hard stop or cable stop,1/4 inch draw length adjustments, best grip out there , and easy paper tare adjustment. Mathew’s starts catching up with elite’s technology, and gets rid of those 8 limbs then I might look at them again.
Bc there not Mathew’s fan boys everybody likes a different style of bows I don’t why people get so but hurt when they pick a Mathew’s!!! Guess what I found a solution buy the freakin bow you like and stop worrying bout what other people like dumbass
And that's not because Mathews isn't the best. Tim just simply doesn't like Mathews because he doesn't wanna be labeled a fanboy so he tends to go with bows other than a Mathews or Hoyt and lies to himself as to why a different bow is better. I trust MFJJ I do not trust Tim sorry brother
I already knew before the video started that Tim was choosing Darton. He has been looking for that sponsorship since last year. Absolutely Glazing Darton on every video he can.
Been a PSE guy for years. But I gave Darton a run for the prelude. That bow was wicked fast and shot well. I stuck with PSE. But dang did Darton make all the right moves with the new St2 series. Darton is going to get another run with me this season.
I’m so happy Tim had that little bit of string creep when he short the Mathew’s on the second round. Happened to me like 5 times somehow keep forgetting to push and pull. My Hoyt last year allowed me to relax a bit with a little pressure pushing. But this lift x is jumpy
Hell yea!!! I fkn knew it 🙏everyone has been talking about this bow since it dropped and how good it is. Marketing aside this was the only bow that was standing up to the LiftX. New mythical character unlocked “Unbiased Tim C”

Yes! Tim you get lots of respect from me for being unbiased. You are one of the only popular archery RUclipsrs that isn't a Matthews bro. You give credit when and where it's due. Thanks for your unfiltered thoughts on these bows.
I own a Mathews lift and a Hoyt Alpha X… I did the same test you did this year. The Sequel 35 ST2 is the best feeling bow I think I’ve ever shot personally. Great platform!
These bows are made about an hour from where I live here in northern Michigan. They have always had excellent bows and they hold patents on alot of the bow technology out there today. Very cool to see them finally get nationwide recognition which they deserve.
Darton is coming up. It will be interesting to watch and you were a year ahead of the curve on them. With that performance at Lancaster I think we’re going to start seeing a lot more of them.
Thx for this and prioritizing what matters most rather than just speed. I too shot them all and have and ST2 on order. A few fps will make zero difference hunting, especially when you can compensate by reducing arrow weight just a touch. Something like being able to slowly draw in the cold or let down smoothly is a much more rational measure for hunting. Love your vids 👊🏼
Awesome video. This might be too nerdy, but I feel speed and draw cycle can be measure at the same time. Usually speed bows feel like crap, and smooth bows shoot slow. I think a way to judge the efficiency is to rank the speed of all the bows, in this case 1-8 (8 being the highest speed), and judge the draw cycle 1-8 (8 being the smoothest). An average score would be 4.5 if you get a 8 on draw, but 1 on speed. Then you can see if something is worth the speed (over 4.5) or if it’s not worth the draw cycle.
I remember watching the same exact video last year when Tim ended up picking the BowTech Core SS…. Only to end up switching to the Elite Ethos a few weeks later lol
Are you planning on coming to TAC in Tennessee in May? I would love to see all you guys there, especially now that Josh has a shop in Nashville. Thanks for all the content you put out. I do thoroughly enjoy it.
I had a lift 33 last year and the second i shot the 33st i immediately sold my mathews and got the sequel in the Folds of Honor edition and ended up getting a matching 35st folds for my all around target bow. Darton definitely made the best bow ive ever shot with these and i had almost all the big names like hoyt, mathews, bowtech, pse, and bear.
Good choice I think. I bought the 35, ordered it from Josh and gang. I’ve been very happy with it and it’s fun to work on and be able to tinker. To me, it’s a good hybrid bow, excellent for hunting and 3d.
Finally, someone picked a bow from not made by Mathews, Hoyt, PSE or Bowtech🤣 Excellent review and commentary as you went through the process. I was a little surprised the PSE did so poorly in the speed test for that arrow weight, but it is what it is. Also appreciate that you cited bothe the Mathews and the Darton bow for feeling the most steady at full draw--that is supposed to be PSE's strong suit because they advertise their Full Draw Stability (FDS) system and dynamic brace height--but unfortunately PSE did not make it through the speed test elimination.
Tim I think that’s a great choice. I have the 33 and I tinkered with the timing because it was aiming the way I like a small adjustment made a huge difference
I feel like he backed into a bow knowing what he wanted to end up with. Maybe not? But if you are trying to give us the impression this is an honest, unbiased choice then I have a hard time with ruling out the Bowtech (one of your top 3 choices) because of a harsh draw cycle and then not testing it in comfort.
To be clear, I like that he is giving Darton some love by selecting their bow. I'd be okay if he said that he just wanted to try something different this year, all things being fairly equal in his mind.
I had a Diamond Core bow. I ran into a killer deal on a new Darton Prelude last year. A coworker turned me onto Darton and showed their history. I am very very happy with my Darton! The Darton 35 ST2 just won the open pro at Lancaster if that means anything to you. Good enough to win the second biggest tournament in America, gotta be doing something right.
@ I like it a lot. The shop that set it up for me tuned it on a hooter shooter, but they had center shot off. So I set center shot correctly then re-tuned it myself very quickly, and I had never paper tuned before that. I shoot both bows about the same, the Lift is a little quieter, but that’s the only advantage, if you can call that an advantage. I have considered selling the Lift and buying a 35ST2.
This is all great, but it all depends on how the bow holds for you. The let of % that works best for your aim, and comfort. And doesn't make you pre-release, which again depends on how it holds for you.
As always, I like your videos and the work you put into them! One thing I disagree with is casting aside a bow simply because of "speed." Speed has become grossly overrated nowadays when it comes to shooting a bow. So many other factors matter more than just speed, especially when you consider that the draw cycle almost always suffers the more speed you get (e.g. the Mathews Lift bow). I know there are guys out there who will swear they missed a deer over 8 fps, but they're coping massively for their lack of shooting ability.
Still no one testing the new Elite bows. Just using the target hybrid that came out last year. Really would like to see them head to head with the other hunting bows.
Is a 2' difference in speed a good reason to eliminate two of the bows? The draw cycle and shooting 5 arrows at a target from each bow to see how each bow groups for you could possibly be a good test? Accuracy is everything. Thanks for the video though. I watch most everything you post on RUclips.

Off the subject of the video, what is the main difference that I will see in arrow flight or an accuracy from a 15% FOC arrow to a 20% FOC? Anybody got the answer to that?
Great video as always! My Mach 33 set up runs 302 fps with 422g at 30" DL. 1" makes a huge difference! (That's what she said / 307 fps with Gas Systmx)
I am thrilled to see the Darton 35 sequel be your pick! I have one and absolutely love it. I shot the Matthews and didn’t like it at all. The Hoyt RX 9 was my next choice until I shot the Darton. The Darton 35 sequel has been fantastic for me.
Love the Darton! Question, I’ve been shooting Darton for 3 years, I really counldnt choose between the og consequences last year and the sequel so I went with the cheaper bow seeing how they both shot amazing. Now to the question lol is the sequal st truly a better shooting bow vs the consequences to you? I havnt shot it yet so just curious.
So I know the Mathew’s is harder to pull back but it is also quicker. I wonder if you back off on draw weight until they both shot the same fps, I wonder how similar the draw cycle would be…
Now the question is with these self tune bows, when working on your bow yourself, if you fuck something up, does the warranty cover it? Or it only covers work from an archery shop?
The bowtech was noticeably louder to me, the Mathews seemed jumpy in your hands and wobbly. I think you made the right decision for you and I’m a Mathews guy
Why didn’t you shoot the Exalt with the perf mods? It would’ve done very well in the speed test. You shot the others with speed mods but not the exalt?

you can either buy the mathews or the mathews. You should take the bows outside, your shots are going to be at least 30-40 yards out there in the West.
Had a feeling this was where you would end up. Enjoy the bow friend!
Great choice man!
Off the subject of the video, what is the main difference that I will see in arrow flight or an accuracy from a 15% FOC arrow to a 20% FOC? Anybody got the answer to that?
The thumbnail should have been mfjj in the cart zooming across the lot. Too funny! 😂
About damn time the sequel got the respect it deserves. Probably won’t be the best kept secret anymore tho. Good choice!
Brother Tim !! What video camera is josh using in this video ?
@@colemantaylor6996 it’s a Sony nxr 800 or something weird like that. Camcorder I just bought for versatility.
I wonder if you back off on draw weight until they both shot the same fps, I wonder how similar the draw cycle would be…
Speed testing without checking draw weights unreal
@@austinphillips9966 I take it the bow you liked shot the slowest lol 😂
No Bear Persist is wild. Could’ve done every big brand. Great vid bro!
Hoyt had a pretty loud crack to it dude I'm telling you I shot the 35 in the darkness and I shot the 35 exalt and they are amazing
Why didn’t you shoot the Exalt with the perf mods? It would’ve done very well in the speed test. You shot the others with speed mods but not the exalt?
