In 1980, as a newly-minted 16 year old and avid Nightmoves watcher, I remember the telecast well. I bought LPs, VHS, cds and DVDs as they came available.
I doubt I've gone a month in those 43 years without revisiting some part (or all) of this concert.
I regularly go to see Stars (as recently as last night at the Memo in St Kilda and tomorrow at Molesworth) and, if nothing else, am glad that Andy's memory lives on in his fantastic body of work and in this supreme night of Australian music.
Thanks for posting this up for us all to enjoy.

Loved this concert. I used to play my tape of it so much in the 80's. Truly talented musicians, all of the performers involved. So sad to lose such a talented artist such as Andrew Durant who contributed in so many ways during his time with Stars.

I was there, a bit past half way on the left aisle (and yes, I know if everyone who claims to have been there had then the Palais Theatre would need to have encompassed the whole state of Victoria, but nevertheless I was there). And if there is anything beyond this life then I hope that I may once again watch a concert half as awesome as that night.

Bloody brilliant concert and fabulous tribute to a great songwriter and musician, who sadly died way to young.

What a great concert. Was there in St kilda 1980. Brod Smith was in fucking credible . He moved to Castlemaine and he was a great muso, song and story writer. He was at Sunbury, he wrote the epitome WAYOUTWEST. What a talent. RIP

This is a tremendous concert and my introduction to the band Stars!! Thank you so much for sharing!! Another great band from Australia. The music scene was amazing in late 70’s early 80’s. I wish I had a Time Machine. Between Cold Chisel, LRB, AC/DC, The Bee Gees and now Stars!! Damn, Australia was a music machine 🎸🤘

@@deathkap you are very welcome. I've enjoyed getting the chance to view the whole concert. I was only around 10 years of age when this concert happened, and due to my love of all things Jimmy Barnes since I was 17, I came across their rendition of Knocking on Heaven's Door. It was in a different clip by itself. I watched that clip every day for about a year but it is so great that Casey has been able to upload the whole thing......, just brilliant. Now especially that Renee passed away this year on 17th January and Broderick passed on 30 April. So much talent on that stage....now I regularly come back to watch it again and again.

@@kazz3956 i like your style. i must have been...sixteen when i bought the tape (remember tapes?) and i played that thing over and over again. it's hard to pick a favourite song- they are all so good; although i will tell you i'm not ashamed to admit- "Ocean Deep" always makes me cry. killer set of songs. i was pretty much obsessed with this collection and one that came out around the same time- "Rock For Kampuchea". I wore both those tapes out pretty good! Incidentally- i was just watching an interview with Richard Clapton. 50 years after the release of his first LP- and he's still gigging! what a classic!
