This has compromised its maneuverability, these f16C/D blk50s of today aren't as maneuverable as their original ancestors were, who were build by learning Vietnam exp. to fight the mig21s in dogfights. They were the most maneuverable in f16 family. And these JF17As in real life r carrying those same lighter wings of F16As. But u can get better Chinese short range missiles if u guys ask deka ironworks like PL8/9. They r also part of jf17 weapons package but just that PAF doesn't use them.
The Jeff is highly underrated. 2 x GB-6 SFW plus 4 x LD-10 are awesome for SEAD and you still have the center pylon available for a jamming pod, fuel tank, or targeting pod.

I love flying the JF17. I fly both the F16 and the Jeff and can say that the Jeff fills in the gap with its anti ship and cruise missiles. You comment on lack of fuel however the engine is very fuel efficient and I often come back with more fuel than the F16. Not so much in quantity but comparative range due to lower fuel consumption. The SD10 is a great A2A missile. The screens are huge and easy to pick out targets despite having to get a bit closer and the ir rockets mean that coupled with the cluster munitions gb6 it can clean up in one flight a bunch of armour that would take other aircraft several flights. All in all the Jeff is a joy to fly and is a much underated fighter.

If you didnt know, the LS 6 100 is more like the gbu- 58 in that it is both gps and laser guided. The LS 6 250 is a gps glider but does not have laser capability. So they are not redundant and both do have their advantages. I honestly find the LS -6 100 better in more situations bc they are more accurate, can hit a moving target, way lighter and believe it or not... have a 13-15 mile range at 500mph, 6000ft. In order to really take advantage of the LS 6 250 standoff range you have to be high, fast, and use the ground radar/mark points/ waypoints for target designation beyond 20 miles (due to targeting pod limitation in the jf-17). What you guys think?
Pakistan's airforce made short work of India's Su-30s and MIG 21s using the JF17 fighters (and some F16s supporting as well)....The JF17 is an impressive aircraft for any airforce!
I heard that the Jeff also can carry the short range MAA-1 Piranha A/A missile from Brazil originally designed for the F-5EM, AMX and Super Tucanos, but the PAF ordered a good number for their inventory, interesting to know if they can carry this Fox-2.
Both 250 and 500 are capable of gliding a distance of 35 nm when dropped from 35k feet at M0,9 so you can safely attack S300 sites. You need to use PP mode with pre-entered coordinates of course (but since 300 is not mobile, it's fine). If you align them properly, they are very precise (suspiciously precise). That pod is really not that good as distance go, but once you're close it does it's job. I especially like how it remembers the last position even with quite wild maneuvers. Not sure how realistic that is since pods in F-16 or A-10 for example in similar behavior usually shifts at least a little and you need to reacquire target again. What was not mentioned and imo is quite important to mention is that 100 series can (but not need to) be guided by laser in terminal phase thus is usable against moving targets. And one remark to fox2 missiles. I would not call them trash because you don't want this missile to be heading towards you any more than 9M. It is a bit harder to acquire lock (especially from the front in head-to-head engagement) but once released I found the performance very similar to 9M. It hits with same (un)reliability, since both eats flares like candies and both struggle to track when pre-flared. Even though I'd like to see more variability of weapons as well, the real difference in combat capabilities would not be very big. Way bigger difference would be a gun that is actually useful in dogfight. I also agree that JF-17 is a big underdog and is more capable that people give it credit. For example if you want laser guided rockets to hit bigger number of targets in one go and you want to have speed as well, you have only Jeff and Harrier to choose from.
I really hope your request to include more versatile air-to-air capabilities gains some traction. I honestly feel that ED has the wrong approach to these scenarios. I recently requested what happened to the once-planned 154C for the Viper to gain the option to remotely target armored vehicles. EDs answer was, in my opinion, very narrow minded: they claim they are modeling the F-16C Block 50 from the USAF/ANG circa 2007. Although the F16C is capable of carrying such weapon, the model and service-branch they are basing the aircraft on, “never carried such weapon”. So, in order to fit a very, very, very specific model in service to a very, very, very specific branch of the USAF, they block the option to have a weapon perfectly capable of being fit in the airframe. Also, this negates the existence of F-16s in other branches, or even in service to other countries. My argument was: let the mission creators the versatility to include those, and, if some scenario calls for this very specific model that shouldn’t have that, the mission creator can limit that ordinance from being fitted. But, the other way around, does not give mission creators the full range of flexibility. Let’s say I wanted to make a mission where a desperate mission called for fitting the 154C into the F-16? Why would ED block that versatility for the sake of 100% historical accuracy of the very specific model they have based their model on? Alas, ED forum moderators (as usual) quickly jumped into just saying “not planned”, and that’s it. Absurd comments like “viper is already overpowered”… great! The. Let mission creators balance that, not limit the aircraft I purchased! Again, good luck with your plea… hope someone at ED has better broader scope minds that those that usually reply to requests in the forum.
Considering that the JF-17 has been delivered to Burma and Nigeria, with Iraq having ordered some Jeffs, it is likely that those countries will have their JF cross compatible with Sidewinders and AMRAAMS.
Pakistani JF-17s started to use Turkish Aselsan Aselpods which are prime quality as made to comply NATO standarts. They bought 12 of them. Deka should model them.
They can't do what they don't have data on. Just because something was added to it doesn't mean they can do it. It also matters on what model of the JF-17 it's being used on. It would be like saying "Hey, the F-16 Viper is now using the AIM-120D. ED should model them." when there is nothing to go off of for them.
Im not sure where you get your jeff info from, cause alot of the info you said was wrong, Im not sure why you keep saying the PL5 is bad, ive been flying it since launch and that missile is Pretty good if used properly, it has the same seeker head as the aim 9m and has more range, in GAME
Im not sure where you are getting your info from? The AIM-9M is far superior to the PL-5EII in game. I would even go as far to say the AIM-9L is superior especially in the forward aspect to the PL-5EII, it is very possible that the PL-5 is underperforming in game compared to IRL.

For a while there were rumours that Deka ironworks were supposedly working on SU-30MKK Chinese two seater version similar to F-15E. With smart munitions capability and all that. Spud try the same missiles on PP mode by manually entering the coords of the targets. So without using the POD and going higher, you can potentially increase the range on these things.
@Spudknocker Could you show off the LS-6-100s in a future video? I can't get those to work right, no ranging indication and they wont drop off of the plane. Thanks Spud, keep up the great work!

Interesting you havent had any luck with the PL sidewinders, personally i have had some good kills with them, i tend to fire them just under 2nm, they travel so quick the enemy rarely has a chance to get out of the way. Also have you tried using the GB-6 SFW? great for taking out SAM sites
Well the idea behind the jet was to replace the aging fleet of f7s in Pakistan airforce in a manner where it somewhat matches the capability of f16 because apparently paf loves it. The jet could be inducted in numbers so it has to be cheap and inducted without any political strings attached. Paf actually works on the basis of tactics what they call as low-high mix. That means numbers of low tech cheap jets and drones to compliment the fleet of few high tech jets. And jf17 checks all of these boxes because that is what it is designed for.
Oh god damn it! this again! Low drag bomb is good for one thing and one thing only. Frontal cross-section. Other than that. Long projectiles have inferior ballistics to more traditional designs. They are prone to side wind. Why don't people make longer artillery shells? Because they have lower accuracy. In case of guided munitions a shorter bomb will have to make a smaller number of inputs/course corrections. Is it modeled in DCS, donno.
Good addition the light LS6, I already was using the 500 for SEAD, but dude, you don't really do much PvP right? Has been a loooong discussion about how insanely resistant to CM's the PL-5 are... they are not a trash at all in game, they should be less effective than they are now, as well the tiny KLJ-7 radar of the Block I, in game it has more detection range than the Hornet's one, also the FM has an STR quite similar to the Viper, I never, ever saw in any air show a 17 perform a 360 STR in less than 22s, in game you can perform it at 17s... so, I like the plane and the module, but man, it still need a lot of work.
I don't see much of a use for these new weapons, on the internal pylons I'd much rather use something like the GB-6 SFW. On the outside pylons the BRM or ARM or an AAM. Just doesn't seem to fill a niche for me yet. Still pretty cool
Pakistani jf-17s are much much capable than DCS versions they also use Aselsan Asel targeting PODs which were develop for F-16s and F-35s in turkey and As you said lot more missiles and bombs from all over the world American European Chinese South African and brazil, their J-10CE too have these capabilities,
Just so you know.... RDAF is the official abbreviation of the Royal Danish Air Force, so.... Perhaps you should name the Royal Dimar Air Force something else than RDAF? 😀
They’re really inaccurate, even when you get a good target lock on the pod, and not very good for precision strikes. Personally rather than 4 of the 250s I’d take 2 of the big ones
You need to do full GC alignment when starting up or your GPS weapons will be inaccurate if you just do short alignment. Guide is: Air 2 Air - short alignment Air 2 Ground - long alignment.
Argie here. Currently There's 2 competitors of the future supersonic Fighter. One like Spud Said one is the JF-17. But the other is ex Danish F-16 MLU.
DUDE PREACH I absolutely hate the gun and sighting system in this plane.
Beautiful imagine quality Spud keep this up! And as a side note I love the Jeff's Bety voice, its so calming and soothing.
For your information, JF 17 Thunder ⛈️ can launch SD-10 and PL-15 BVR Air2Air Missiles along with PL5 Next generation IR missiles
For your information the PL-15 is not in DCS
I have the JF-17, but I need to focus on learning one frame at a time to be adaptable when the time comes
I agree with that!
Not possible.. the weapons computer is probably chinese or russian… so yeah for american weapons to be integrated… gotta change the system

ED should model them." when there is nothing to go off of for them.
these new feature tutorials are so awesome Spud!
Is it possible, to me it seems that they are usualy out of focus?
Im not sure where you get your jeff info from, cause alot of the info you said was wrong, Im not sure why you keep saying the PL5 is bad, ive been flying it since launch and that missile is Pretty good if used properly, it has the same seeker head as the aim 9m and has more range, in GAME
Im not sure where you are getting your info from? The AIM-9M is far superior to the PL-5EII in game. I would even go as far to say the AIM-9L is superior especially in the forward aspect to the PL-5EII, it is very possible that the PL-5 is underperforming in game compared to IRL.
@@Spudknocker I dont know where you got the info from, im not sure how much you fly the jeff but from that statement it seems to be very little : )
@@Spudknocker Ah shit, thats E-TF[101] Breeze. He is the best competitive JF pilot in dcs :/ He was won multiple competitions in it. I think he might have the correct info on this one.
How? I've only been flying jeff for 3 months, but i couldn't beat the instant action on caucuses against he mirage with only fox 2's. Like even post death the missle would still be on some crack.
@Tracking Phoenix I fly tomcat, and they don't feel comparable, that said I havent ever run into a jeff going fox 2 to fox 2. Aim 9 seems more powerful to me. Does someone have a video comparing the two of them in a dogfight?
The Jeff's pod may not be as capable, but very clear image if used right.
1:10 The.... the WHAT role? Can it also do cuh-ass or cuh-app? Is dee-add off the table?
+1 to Spud's AIM-9 integration suggestion. Also, add EEGS piper to JEFF. They have EEGS since loooooong time in RL.
Really hoping Argentina gets the JF17s
I dont think they gonna get it because of strong Indian lobby.
I just bought my first hotas the T16000m as I watched many reviews on it as a good starter and I am very exited to give DCS a try with it, also seen reviews on the warthog and x56 but heard there's certain issues with them that just complicated things so decided to go the cheaper route to see if I like the flight sim area.
ghost inputs on the x56 are a pain, i find myself going back to my old logitech extreme 3d pro a little too often considering how pricey the x56 is
Yeah, I wish I'd gotten something other than the x56. It's something you can work around, but it's a pain.
@@johnseed4104 Have you tried a powered usb hub ? I used to be plagued with ghost inputs until getting the hub. Since progressed to a VKB stick and warthog throttle but with prices crazy as they are a hub may just get you by for time being.
For a while there were rumours that Deka ironworks were supposedly working on SU-30MKK Chinese two seater version similar to F-15E. With smart munitions capability and all that. But I think those rumours were dropped. Seems that these times are going to be even harder to get anything high fidelity little bit more modern for the red team. Razbam is working on MiG-23 but God knows when that's coming out.
The only hope I have is ED working on MiG-29A German version which supposedly was to come after black shark 3. But nowadays who knows if that's coming at all
Su30 mod? Custom cockpit and full fidelity (still in works for some parts)
@@kshitijsharma6289 there is a fan-made SU-30 mod with high fidelity cockpit and modern munitions (Astra mk-1, Brahmos, and other Russian-type missiles).
@@MuhammadAli-255 thats what i am referring to
0:22 from where to get that skin
I need to get on this plane and learn it.
Worth a shot!
er... I'm not understanding how you can take sd10s and these weapons at the same time like you said in the video
Spud try the same missiles on PP mode by manually entering the coords of the targets. So without using the POD and going higher, you can potentially increase the range on these things.
One thing i don't get is the system damage when i leave the jet on electrical power only, is it like normal ?
Overheating is likely the issue.
@@safety_doggo2 yeah i figured out since 😂
PL-10 imaging infrared may be next along with Pl-15
Actually, these are more like JDAM, not JSOW.
The LS-6 100 is a laser guided JDAM
GB-6 is more like the JSOW and can also carry the CBU-97 clusterbomb
@Spudknocker Could you show off the LS-6-100s in a future video? I can't get those to work right, no ranging indication and they wont drop off of the plane. Thanks Spud, keep up the great work!
Hey Spud great vid as always.I just got the JF-17 and i like it tho im having trouble turning the pod on if you could maybe in the future make a video about it i would be thankful! much love and take care good sir!
Interesting you havent had any luck with the PL sidewinders, personally i have had some good kills with them, i tend to fire them just under 2nm, they travel so quick the enemy rarely has a chance to get out of the way. Also have you tried using the GB-6 SFW? great for taking out SAM sites
JF-17 I dont think can even think about using a AIM-9. The PL-5E isnt horrible.. but it isnt great. But we should get the PL-5EII or the PL-9
Is that Royal Dhimar livery out yet?
Royal Dhimari Air Force having the Jeff instead of Vypers hurts my heart.
They have vipers too!!!
@@Spudknocker which country is dhimari airforce ?
@@technofaisal tbh im also confused xD
Jf-17 is similar to the F-16 in many ways
Well the idea behind the jet was to replace the aging fleet of f7s in Pakistan airforce in a manner where it somewhat matches the capability of f16 because apparently paf loves it. The jet could be inducted in numbers so it has to be cheap and inducted without any political strings attached. Paf actually works on the basis of tactics what they call as low-high mix. That means numbers of low tech cheap jets and drones to compliment the fleet of few high tech jets. And jf17 checks all of these boxes because that is what it is designed for.
All of this is my observation it might be wrong
its quite a underdog
they should add pl-10s all aspect fox2s
for some reason the J17 JSOWs have half the range of those in the F16/FA18 and it really annoys me
try radar locking instead of the POD and go high 35k ft or so.. the range drastically increases upto 40 nm
Trackir bien réglé je trouve....dommage de pas connaitre tes reglages ;)
No ASELPOD available ?
such a beautiful module...
Has been a loooong discussion about how insanely resistant to CM's the PL-5 are... they are not a trash at all in game, they should be less effective than they are now, as well the tiny KLJ-7 radar of the Block I, in game it has more detection range than the Hornet's one, also the FM has an STR quite similar to the Viper, I never, ever saw in any air show a 17 perform a 360 STR in less than 22s, in game you can perform it at 17s... so, I like the plane and the module, but man, it still need a lot of work.
can we get a proper module review?
Question. I can’t find DCS 2.8 WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD IT. Is it out yet.
It is only on the open beta version. Not the stable version. “Yet”
I don't see much of a use for these new weapons, on the internal pylons I'd much rather use something like the GB-6 SFW. On the outside pylons the BRM or ARM or an AAM. Just doesn't seem to fill a niche for me yet. Still pretty cool
Just the major downside of the Jeff unfortunately
f 16 and jf 17 is deadly combination for sam.
HOLY SHIT THEY FIXED THE JF17 GRAPHICS??
Is pl5 not a good weapon???
thanks
very good tutorial as usal
Pakistani jf-17s are much much capable than DCS versions they also use Aselsan Asel targeting PODs which were develop for F-16s and F-35s in turkey and As you said lot more missiles and bombs from all over the world American European Chinese South African and brazil, their J-10CE too have these capabilities,
Just so you know....
RDAF is the official abbreviation of the Royal Danish Air Force, so....
Perhaps you should name the Royal Dimar Air Force something else than RDAF? 😀
exactly, i googled the heck out of daimar haha
They’re really inaccurate, even when you get a good target lock on the pod, and not very good for precision strikes. Personally rather than 4 of the 250s I’d take 2 of the big ones
You need to do full GC alignment when starting up or your GPS weapons will be inaccurate if you just do short alignment. Guide is:
Air 2 Air - short alignment
Air 2 Ground - long alignment.
Weren’t those already in game?
TLDW there’s 2 “new” bombs that deploy the same way as every other smart weapon on the jf17.
There saved you 18 min
Jf 17 block 3 with Turkish aselsan targeting pod is way better than this old. Chinese wmd 7 pod
Too short. I think you could have hit the 45 minute mark.
Argie here. Currently There's 2 competitors of the future supersonic Fighter.
One like Spud Said one is the JF-17. But the other is ex Danish F-16 MLU.
UK do not want F-16 in argentine airforce but theres someting more important.
USA do not want Chinese planes in south american Airforces. It's more important stop the chinese influence in south america than a stupid veto to defend a tiny island from a undefended country.
Just a heads up, Weaponry is pronounced Weapon-ree not Weapon-dree. Otherwise, good stuff and happy you're covering new patch features, changes and additions.
I still think you pay what you get!!!!cheap it's not so good
See-Add xD
Chinese JDAMs ..No Thanks
youn early flew into your own bombs evading the Sam
Nah, too much hype for something that is no worthy of a video like this, at first I thought we were getting a cool new weapon for the jeff, but it's only a bomb that we already have, but smaller. What a disappointment of a video
