Love the Jeff, she just gives you so much information, RWR, Jammer, HSI, map and SPI all on the same display is amazing. You can also use this kinda in reverse to get the radar to look at the point the Jammer is indicating. In some cases the AG radar beam sharpening modes are good enough to make out the emitter and attack it with glide bombs.
Good point, I've tested trying to do this and at the ranges we are talking about here I wasn't able to get a good enough image from the radar. I'm sure that if you go in closer though this would work.
Great video - thank you! The JF is one of my 'Go-To' aircraft - I'm sure the LD's used to be a lot better than they are now as range and accuracy seem to be a bit rubbish when firing in PAS mode. This tutorial should help to make it all good again. Going to try it now!
I experimented a lot with the LD-10 today and found that the ACT mode seems to be a little buggy, and you also showed it in the video. It would go for the actively emitting target near the SPI, but the missiles really struggle to score direct hits, no matter how much energy it has before impact. This is not the case however in PAS or SP modes, the missile can always destroy the radar with one direct hit.
That is really cool! I have the 17 sitting in the hangar since release but then kinda forgot about it... This plane can do literally anything! These orbital strike missiles, close air support, air superiority .. I also remember it has some rockets that are similar to old SNEB ones that are laser guided. IIRC it can also carry some kind of cruise missile(?) I really need go get back into this :) Seems to have some capabilities that no other plane in DCS has.
Only issue is this will only work if there's only one radar emitting around the SPI. If there are multiple radars, the LD-10 will go for the nearest emitter and sometimes that might not be the one you're after due to distance error (the SPJ only provides slant range). For example if the SAM site is protected by SHORADs or Radar-guided AAA, or even SAMs with TELARS like SA-11. There are ways around it by looking for the SAM site with the A2G radar but that can be tricky since the EXP/DBS modes is not as good as the ones on the Hornet or Viper.
Yes, you're quite correct. Approach with this kind of mission should always be volume though, multiple aircraft launching multiple LD-10 and perhaps throw in some TALD for good measure.
I just got back to DCS and my Jeff. So I went on one server and tested this method and it worked nicely. Shorter SPI hit target directly twice (SA10) and one 60 nm attempt got a tad short from FL300. I presume If I took no tanks I would be able to get more altitude and better shot. I am not sure but I think I cannot put jammer on inner pylon so I could put one fuel tank in middle. That is bummer thou.
I've not tested this much but I'm familiar with the tecnique. Does it loft aggressively like it does in ACT mode or does it pitch down quickly from that launch angle?
It does pretty much a similar loft profile to ACT mode going to about 80k ft then slowly diving towards the target and then doing a almost 90° dive to hit the radar emitter
@@deephack Back, when I was still flying DCs and JF mostly, I was instructed to loft all my missles whenever I could primarily SD-10 and LD-10, but buggines of dcs systems drove me inro ragequit at one point.😂
If you are actively jamming do you still get the same location details, you were in Standby mode. I might experiment with it tonight. Excellent video by the way! Your tutorials on the Jeff are the best on RUclips so your work is very much appreciated!
The SPJ gives you so much info I always take it on my loadouts. It will even give location on active missles like 120s and Phoenixs.

How we can made It? Please, explain us. I dont know how can i salve AG radar to Jammer Signal 😢.
Thanks a lot.

Neat! I love the JF and never knew about using the SPJ to improve the location of the radar info. Great video.
always great to see your tutorials !!
this is so handy for the JF-17 sead opreations
thanks

The LD-10 will loft in self protect or passive mode if you pitch up 15° or 25° I've been able to successfully engage a sa 5 track radar from 60 miles

@@wargames637 Excellent, that does sound effective then.

My understanding is that you do. Thanks!
