So, first off, having the datalink on changes things a bit, you can declutter. Also, with the SPJ turned on, you get the distance to the radiation source, it's not related to the 'threat level'. Those rings are ranging rings, which is why all the screen can zoom in/out by is multiples of 3 - each ring is 1/3 the maximum. The jammer pod when it says 'JAM' is ready to jam anything locked onto you. When it says JAMING, then it is actively jamming. Type 1 is 'jam when locked' and type 2 is 'continually jam'. FWD is like 120% power, BWD is like 100% power, and F+B is 80%.

@@deephack Oh well, bound it to a HOTAS button. Feel kinda sorry for the Jeff pilot that has to reach that button in a real fight though, especially since it doesn't appear to have semi-auto mode either.

Excellent additional information. Where did you get the info on the jammer effectiveness in different settings? I haven't seen that before.

So you always need to press a button on the MPCD to switch between chaff and flare? That’s a bit… inconvenient.
As far as I'm aware yes, that's how it works in the Jeff.
