AMAZINGLY helpful video! I watched this whole video and re-gurgitated some of the historical info to my family during the trip. The details of how to access the viewpoints is amazing and also a stress reliever! I knew exactly where to go and which spots we were going to hit at the grand canyon bc of this video! The details on each of the viewpoints helped me to calculate which spots we could hit. For example I avoided the Lower Falls Brink because of the details of the hike down to the viewing point, bc my wife wasn't in great shape. VERY HELPFUL, and thank you!

I had family that lived in Jackson Hole area in the late 70's/early 80's that I visited several times a year as a youngster (9-12 yrs old). Now a bit over 50, It is very interesting to see the changes. We are heading to Yellowstone/Tetons/Black Hills, and eventually Michigan in a couple weeks and your videos have been very informing on how we plan to plan out trip. We start in far Northern CA (Redding area). Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, they have been crucial in our efforts to plan our routes.

Really helpful video, thanks so much for it. We're coming from Australia for a long roadtrip around the western states and including Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is one of the things I am really looking forward to. The scenery of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is amazing, but so is the exploration background of the pioneers who explored the area. Thanks for sharing some of that background and history. We're looking forward to doing a bit of a longer hike around the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, I will look for a video you might have done on those. I really love the tip of the Painting Stoof too, woweee, what a great memento! Thanks for your great content, it is amazing to help plan our trip through CA, UT, WY etc.

This time we won’t be on the tour guide’s time so I think a picnic lunch there will be in order!

Superb video, Matt! First, I could tell that you're a teacher, because you are actually talking to us (your video viewer) rather than reading a script. This is a wonderful way to explain and teach your subject. I'll bet that you're the top teacher in your district. Second, your historical narrative is spot-on regarding the railroad, the expedition to learn about that territory, and the artists and photographer! We lived in Colorado for 15 years and found Yellowstone and Teton National Parks to be our Heaven on Earth. We also love the Rockies, all the way from Banff & Jasper, Canada, down to northern New Mexico. You are our favorite travel channel. Your channel is terrific so I'm a subscriber. I visited YS in Sept this year. Unfortunately the east side of the park was closed so, I just booked 2 nights at the YS Canyon campground for Sept 2021. Both GT and YS were smoked out when I was there, since CA, WA and OR were all on fire! I could not even see the Tetons! Still, I had a great time and there is so much to see. There is no way to see all the sites on one trip. Can't wait to see the Canyon next year.

Thank you so much for all this fascinating and helpful information. I loved the historical backstory as it brings a real richness to the experience.
Our family are visiting in July and are very into connecting to nature and experiencing a place in a spiritual way, which means we do better when it’s quieter and we have time to explore. I’m guessing from your suggestions that it might be best for us to park and Artists Point and hike on the trail towards the falls. I’m also assuming either sunrise or sunset would be best. What do you think? What would give us the best experience? Thank you again for all your fantastic videos!

You're channel is required viewing for trips like this. I'm from KY and we made our first ever trip out west to Yellowstone about a month ago. I would've been frustrated and disappointed had I not studied your videos. Not because Yellowstone isn't nice, it's just so huge, it's tiring driving so much, hopping out of the car and hiking so much, trying to relax and see it all. We did not see it all (of course, lol) but we loved it and was able to see those top attractions in our allotted time.
The Grand Canyon area alone can consume a half day or whole day if you take your time and like to hike. If you don't know already, there's folks out there like myself that really appreciate the hard work and time put into these videos, they are excellent. As a traveler that prepped for the trip by watching a LOT of videos/channels, yours was the most informative by far; and quite pleasant with you and your wife sharing something that obviously means a lot to you as well. Thank you so much!

@@WereintheRockies We did the Badlands, Rushmore, Devils Tower, up through Bighorn Mtns... finally entering through the Beartooth Highway and northeast entrance. The Beartooth was amazing. No kidding, less than 5 minutes after we entered Yellowstone, we spotted a moose, something we kinda didn't expect to see. So, I knew I took good advice to not miss Lamar Valley! I probably wouldn't have went to Beartooth except for a comment on one your videos suggested this and I looked into it (need to find that person and thank them). We stayed in Gardiner 2 nights and third day worked down to Tetons but ran out of energy and didn't stay. Intended to camp a couple of nights there but was colder than we expected (in low teens with snow), and we didn't were tired and ready to head home anyway.
You're doing great work though. Seriously, without my Yellowstone planning, based on your tutorials, I would've been frustrated. With the road closings on northeast side and so much to do, I knew how to navigate. And boy was it crowded, much more than we anticipated but 2020 has been nuts.

As a native American of course I'm interested in native American from Klamath falls Oregon how do you do one man even had the sense some kind of senses to say that native Americans were possibly Egyptian from in the past because of things they found in the canyon which I don't believe if ever anything I believe I believe they find natives over in Israel and Russia perhaps I believe I belong to the tribe of Judah I belong to The King of Kings the Lord of lords the king of all Kings the Lord Jesus Christ first and foremost and forever good day you said you like comments to leave comments and keeps you going I got tons of them those are just the beginning God bless you where are you from this is my first time ever on your channel so my first time commenting like share subscribe the whole nine yards

What is the best trail, if could only pick one by either upper or lower falls

Upper isn’t really a trail, just a stop and see the fall. So you should be able to do both!

I loved our trip but personally maybe we should’ve tried to see less and just relax and enjoyed. Am I making sense? I want to go back already.

Makes perfect sense. Yellowstone can be difficult to relax because there is so much to see. Also, the road is so long that it just takes a long time to drive places. I’ve had many frustrating trips to Yellowstone. It’s why I am creating some itineraries and game plans for people. I’ve learned over the years.

Going to have to stop watching your videos ( Only joking). They make me want to drop everything and load up the motor home. Guess I'll have to be patient till spring. 😀 Thanks for another interesting and motivating video. Can't wait till spring. 👍🙏

Are you certain that it was john colter and not the native americans who first saw yellowstone?

The native American People have lived in the land of Wyoming for thousands of years. The first people were called the Paleo-Indians. By the time the Europeans arrived the land was inhabited by a large number of Native American tribes. Some of the major tribes were the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Crow, Ute, and Shoshone. - from a google search
