      Thanks so much! We love finding events like the cookout! Particularly when it combines an activity AND dining, lol. Honestly, the best way to help more people see episodes like this is to share on your socials, comment like you're doing and just enjoy it! The longer people watch is one of the major indicators to RUclips of the quality of the video. 👍 -Howard

      FYI, I am retired from American Airlines, so travel has been my main passion for decades. I've lived in DC, Miami, Dallas, LA and NYC/LI during my career...definitely learning more about life through all of this experience than in my entire college years! I also spent two years working at the Grand Canyon as well. I've been following your channel since you were down in Mexico, and adopted Scout. It has been a wonderfully entertaining time following all of your various travel adventures, especially all of the US national parks. Thanks very much for all of your time and effort. Katelyn, your journalism skills are second to none. Between you and Howard, you cover it all with just the right amount of history and tidbits. I'm glad you guys made it up to Red Rock Overlook to see the geothermal colors of Grand Prismatic. My mouth was watering seeing the good eats you had from Yellowstone restaurants and Old West Diner, they fed you like a King and Queen. I have to thank you so much for making a plug for people staying in their car around the bison. As somebody who was born and raised in Montana and still lives here, we have way too many “tourons” that disrespect our national parks, thinking that they can get within a couple feet of one of these majestic animals to get a photo or even provoke them, and the disrespect really enrages the locals let alone how rude it is to the animals on their turf. Thank you so much for what you both do, you’re exemplary tourists and storytellers! ❤❤❤

    Hi
    I was at this park 2 years ago. Yes, awe, like 3 parks in one. Did not know about the lodge burning down this year. Hoh river trail was worth the hike for sure. The coast camping was so fun.
    I did not know about staircase, I will certainly visit again to see it. You always make the trips exciting 🎉

I think I’d rather stay in our Lucy, though, especially with such a price for a shared bath! 😳. Oh geeze, that food you had, YUM, YUM, YUM. Thank you for taking me back to one of our fav national parks…Tim and I better get to-goin’ to revisit all these wonderful places you’re taking us to! Love you guys, Virginia 🩷

    I LOVED that! I was there in 1982, we tented. The fire was 1988, has it completely recovered now from that? I loved the boiling mud as well, loved it all really. The canyon is so gorgeous…it was a wonderful trip. Love your travels…thank you.

      Thank you so much! I'm not 100% on which part was from the 1988 fire, but there are definitely areas that look to be more recent than that inside the park. We tent camped on a black sand beach in Maui after our wedding, there's something special about camping like that every now and then! 👍 -Howard

      It's very crowded then and people block the trails and boardwalks trying to film.

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  7 месяцев назад

      Correct, Yellowstone has a significant overcrowding issue with the geothermal areas in summertime. They specifically restrict any activity that could further impede the flow of visitors to the area. We intentionally don't film with tripods or equipment beyond the camera (and most people don't realize we are even filming beyond what a typical visitor does at a site), but always follow the stipulations and requirements of the permits at each location. - Howard

  • @bb1040
    @bb1040 Месяц назад

    Great video but how much did it cost for the permits to make these videos ? According to the new laws I can not even take a vacation video of a national park and post it on RUclips, without first getting a permit from the Park Service, for each park.

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  Месяц назад

      Bruce, first a clarification, the laws that regulate commercial filming in NPs are over 20 years old. Second, the unfortunate aspect of RUclips if you're using it to share personal videos is that the video is eligible for monetization (RUclips can run ads on any video on the platform even if you don't receive a portion of the profits) and therefore the NPS considers it and TikTok as always for commercial purposes. Third, permits for National Parks vary widely by park. Some on our tour were $75. A few were over $400. It is best to contact each park or check their websites to see if they list application fees for SUP permits (if it is just two people, no special equipment beyond a tripod, and only filming in public areas, the location fee is $0, so you just pay the application fee). Hope that helps, and thanks for watching. - Howard

      @@NewstateNomads I am 76 years old now and used to visit Yellowstone every summer for many years and never even thought about NOT being able to take videos and pictures of our National parks, the video camera I used was a big VHS camcorder that rested on my shoulder and nobody had any problem with it.. I was not destroying the park in any way. Granted I understand that commercial companies with large crews that obstruct the park need to have permits, but NOT people with a cell phone or small action camera taking videos and NOT bothering anybody, they don't take anything away from the park and they are hurting nothing. These parks belong to the people. We pay a fee to enter and enjoy the parks, we should not have to pay a fee to take vacation pictures and share them with other friends, over the internet. This Idea of charging us for everything we do on public land is getting a bit carried away.

    The Yellowstone doesn’t even have tall peaks to appreciate the view, it is the most awful NP in the world just because the American people are not smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity, I hate them, They should have done some spa type of facilities, but kind of integrated with the environment, certain type of soak springs by mixing the hot with cold water, they could even make some INFINITY Edges, so tourists would be enjoying the views of the springs and wildlife, BECAUSE THE WAY IT CURRENTLY IS WHAT IS THE F*** Point of watching those bubbling pools in the cold without being able to feel it on the skin, it’s too hot I know, but they could mix it.
