@@calisthetics One of my favourite high IQ naruto moments was when he parries the cloud ninja's sword, and then blocks the other ninja from unsheathing his sword with his elbow, and then summons a clone to catch the counter attack from the first ninja. It was so smoothly done lol.
Momoshiki fight had strategy. Just included some power boosts, I mean the tailed beast shown in the beginning of Naruto was a clear sign that there are gonna be nukes here and there.
The fact that Naruto and Sasuke have referenced this one strategy in multiple different ways in multiple different fights without evenbeingg together in some of them is amazing. Sasuke used a modified version against itachi, Naruto transformed himself into a rasen shuriken against pain. This one scene is incredibly important to their characters.
This is easily one of the best fights in Naruto. Despite all of the flaws and being drawn out, the fight is very well done. That final combo with the shuriken is, at the same time: - A character point for both Naruto and Sasuke, as they work TOGETHER instead of fighting or trying to one-up each other, dividing a plan that requires both of their strengths combined; - As said above, a combination os both characters main strengths: Naruto uses shadow clone and transformation, while Sasuke has his mastery of shuriken. It also shows Naruto's smarter side, as he is able to think of this technique, and shows that Sasuke is capable of team work, which is a suppression of their past weaknesses; - Their victory isn't defeating Zabuza, but rather freeing Kakashi. There was no way they could beat a jonin, even if he had his hands tied, however they could annoy him just enough that he could make a mistake and loose hold of the one guy in that place that could be a real threat for him. This solidifies the power levels and the disparity between a jonin and 3 genin; - Their combo is very well thought and never leaves the realm of possibility. Everything used is either well known at that point or within the expect for the series. There are no asspulls, there are no last-minute power ups, no new abilities, no hidden training; - The combo is also very well presented. When you see it at first the visuals on the fuuma shuriken being deployed seem like just a special-ish intro for a new weapon, but when watching it a second time you can see it is actually foreshadowing their tactic: the slow-mo effect isn't just an effect, it's the second shuriken being deployed behind the first. The pose with the shuriken at a clear angle to the camera and so on, it all works as a sort of "magic trick", pulling your perspective and attention away until the final reveal, for us and for Zabuza.
What do you mean his smarter side? Naruto wasn't smart academically, but his battle tactics were always extremely good(although not on shikamaru's level) The english dub made him sound and look so stupid
To be fair at this point Sharingan was only some Hipnosis and crazy kinetic seeming (the copy is nothing more than training to make some real time body language reading and decodification). He couldnt notice something Naruto and Sasuke did while making use of blind spots with this type of Sharingan from the early days.
@@williamkirklin6120Kakashi did say he doubted Sakura the most as far as being ready; he thought it was highly likely that she wouldn’t show up for the exam registration.
You know what angers me the most with late Shippuden and Boruto? It makes past ninjas feel weak in comparaison. During early Naruto, there was a definite scale of power and Zabuza was a very powerful shinobi that team 7 was only able to take down thanks to a great strategy. Nowaday, because the power escalation went way too high, Boruto could easily one shot Zabuza with his bullshit distance rasengan.
This is what got me the most as a kid. Seeing Naruto actually experiencing real fear before charging in with his naive but strong will to push himself beyond the limits of what others, but most importantly he thinks hes capable of. It made Naruto the most relatable protagonist to me growing up. A shame a great sense of that was lost over time in the series. Especially after the fight with Pain.
especily after suddenly they got reincarnated and destined to be a god by god, then suddenly there is a rabbit god who is more powerful than the sage of god. but actually the rabbit god is weaker than the new fucking god name isshiki. then what? isshiki is actually the weakest by god clan? or what? there are more powerful god? i remember og naruto is about ninja, strategic jutsu, not fucking god who is immortal and can't be damaged.
Naruto didnt feel fear no more during shippuden as hes already a full fledged ninja, the first encounter with zabuza gives him a reality check to what a ninja is and defines his ninja way.
Lol that’s different, they were lied to about the scope of the mission and ran into one of the former top dogs of the mist while being fresh out of the academy
@@Joshua_N-A If I remember right Team 7 was hired to guard the bridge builder from common thieves and bandits, no one was ever informed that actual ninja were trying to assassinate him. I think Kakashi said that it was given to them as a Rank C mission but with the true circumstances it was actually a Rank A mission which is supposed to be reserved for jonin.
Naruto felt like a completely different series back then. Zabuza and Kakashi, two Jonin, were considered to be among the best ninja in their respective villages. But when Kakashi got careless and Zabuza trapped him, his pupils had to work together to free their sensei, and it worked, because Zabuza underestimated them. Even the fight between Zabuza and Kakashi was very tame in comparison to the feats we see later on in this series. I remember how impressive it was when we saw Sasuke learn the chidori or the kage level combat between Orochimaru and Hiruzen. None of these fights from part 1 and early shippuden fit with the crazy shit we see later on in the series.
@@She-Devil94 I would rather watch that than this garbage pretending to be "strategy" which is all "Haha transformation Jutsu" "Look that was a fake clone so strategic". Original Naruto is complete garbage which was saved by Shippuden.

The rule is simple anyone can do any jutsu in the naruto world but they need to be able to say the jutsu name in japanese. I remember watching this episode back to back just so I could try to memorize what sasuke is saying and then when the time comes I take 4 pencils, stack em together, hold it in my left hand say "fuuma shuriken kagehousha" then slowly with my other hand I'd move the pencil so it will look like that the shuriken is opening. Then of course I throw it at them.
This is the kinda shit that got me I to the show. You didn't need a big ass power level, just some tools, a few ninja and a plan. It felt like I was watching actual ninja instead of Naruto ball z. Everything from the music, to the animation style, to the fighting. Boruto can't come close.
Well what actually got me to watch naruto although I am not so much of a huge fan of it as in I dont watch it as much was back then you felt like you were watching the equivalent of real ninjas something of this show back then was that it was special and it was mostly based on real ninja techniques and strategies I also loved how the balance was there with no insane power ups but I loved the jutsus but still I love the way the fights are animated till today because at least you can actually see them fighting and not just moving insanely fast you barely see thier hands although its really my brother who watches the show more I am not that into it as much as brother or cousin who also liled the show back when not that many people knew about naruto aka when it was new
look you can hate boruto and naruto shippuden all you want. But in Shippuden it was established that they were all training like hell, then gained massive power creep during the war. Obviously from a shounen series there will be power creep, and compared to literallly every other shounnen series it's powercreep was the most fair and still tried to keep it at a equilibrium to how strong the enemy is, while keep some level of tactics with art. Boruto is good, most are just to big of a fanboy for naruto to like it. They are kids with genuine talent, they have learned and are able to learn form the best, cause the best are still alive to teach them. They are inexperienced, even if their powerful. It has shown time and time again, how weak they really are even if they have all these amazing skills and jutsu. People hate on Boruto, cause they feel like he hasn't earned shit. That is literally the point of the series, he doesn't know anything, he is extremely talented and need to go on this journey. in retrospect, Naruto was a obnoxious kid who whined and whined, then did amazing things. Boruto is the same, except with a different personality and story. He is a kid who just doesn't understand what it means to be a ninja or the hardships that come with/from it. it honestly is a work of a art, for a sequal, a brilliant way to innovate a story and continue. It is by virtue the most accurate definition of a perfect sequel. It builds on the previous content, it creates its own story, it expands on the subject, it re-breathes previous established lore through character driven motives, previous content also shapes and builds future plot points and character development. If you don't like it, then your not a naruto fan, just a shonnen fuck boy.

Just to highlight why I like this fight so much : It really put the training you undergo at the academy into action . We see Sasuke throw his Shuriken perfectly because he trained with Shuriken alot . We also see naruto throw his kunai perfectly ,highlighting the target practice training they did at the academy . Of course the shadow clone jutsu is a literal graduation test tool . And the best thing is showing how ninja fight with deception. This is seen in how Zabuza captured Kakashi and how Naruto and Sasuke freed him . It was simple but so much was going on
Oh my goodness the whole badassery that came with the original Naruto. Everything from the story down to choice of music during battles. This is how Naruto will always be remembered.

Actually, the usage of strategy in Naruto Shippuden was even present in the war arc, like when Kakashi figured out how Kamui works, or like when Tobirama and Minato used Flying Raijin jutsu to teleport Naruto to Obito. It's just that the strategy wasn't used that much like in the first part, probably because the villains in War arc were so OP that they didn't even have to use it at all.
@@gabrielfarkas257 No, that's just how they justified it within the story, but it's still a far cry from what we'd seen before. It’s sad to see that this fight is never considered one of the best Naruto fights in the series, since it wasn’t just a clash of brute strength, and the villain had a great backstory along with a good arch. This fight holds up as one of the best anime fights all time (in my opinion). Although this is early in Naruto I think it was the peak of the show, and really cemented the series as great.
This was the part where I fell in love with this anime. When Naruto says like write my name in your book that gives me goosebumps Everytime. Best anime for me.
To this time one of my top 5 favourite fights in the series. Just few things to appriciate: 1. The tension of Zabuza treat 2. The quick thinking and teamwork of Naruto and Sasuke 3. The fact that two kids wet for straight up kill ons Zabuza, you see that when Naruto aim for a HEAD of Zabuza, and i know they are kids but still point blank throw of knife from 2-3 meters in HEAD.
I thought that the Land of Waves arc and the early Chūnin Exams arc had a feel that got lost later on. Kinda like how One Piece lost its special feel after the East Blue Saga.
Boruto, where a mere genin fresh out of academy can tank a kage level threat. Amegakure being the antagonist would've been great, as to remind Naruto of his broken promises. Disclaimer, I haven't Boruto properly yet but 200 episodes is kind of a drag.
Naruto and sasuke vs zabuza, a jounin Goal : freeing kakashi because they know they don't stand a chance Boruto, sarada mitsuki and kawaki vs boro, someone on the same level as hokage naruto Goal : saving naruto by killing boro, cause why not

@@mohammedhussain6585 "Who is far more powerful than him" Do you realize what you're saying? Lol. These characters just show up out of nowhere, suddenly being more powerful than the protagonist, then when asked how, no answers are said because there is no answer. The characters exist SOLELY for the protagonist to fight. Plot doesn't even matter anymore. This reminds me of Dragon Ball, when it was said that Frieza was the emperor of the Universe, then suddenly, more powerful characters just show up for some goddamn reason. Fuck Boruto. I was 15, when i began to watch naruto. I had tried many times in childhood to run like a ninja. Later it turned to be a awesome memories. Now I'm 24 still watching this wonderful strategic fight episode.
This is actually one of my favorites arcs, this really make it look like the character were growing and becoming closer by facing difficulties together. Naruto always had a well defined power cap all the way up to the "Sasuke leaving the village" arc, after that it just went all the way to the moon, quite literally, at the end of the anime the previous kages were actually looking pretty weak and Naruto/Sasuke to op
I think this kind of fights catapult Naruto into worldwide success, since most of the Anime at the time is about power-ups. Naruto is the only anime that use surprise tactics and strategy. I wish they stay consistent.
People here be like "ah the good old days of ninjutsu rather than literal kaiju", somehow forgetting that this wasn't that long before Naruto and Gaara fought using literal kaiju.
It doesn't matter if they do But still that felt like ninja fights using summoning jutsu. But in war arc it becomes DBZ and spirit bomb attacks which ruined naruto originality And I think instead of tailed beasts.. there should have evil spirits which is sealed inside naruto I mean evil spirits of ninja which tried to destroy whole village this would be even better than tailed beasts (my opinion)
The time where kakashi panicking, where naruto is naive and weak, where sasuke still scared, where sakura still a young lady, and now we have boruto.. how old am i?
Gotta love how kakashi emphasized teamwork and playing to one's individual strengths and Naruto boy here went and demonstrated both. He used his penchant for pranks and tricks to decieve Zabuza as well as his teammate Sasuke's insight and shuriken skill all to come up with an off the cuff plan not to defeat Zabuza as he might expect with the boastful talk but to free the Jonin that could(a ninja must see through deception). Its genuinely a damn good strategy and totally in line with what a real ninja would do in such a situation. Moreover it demonstrates that Naruto is not a loser or incapable of growth. But rather that he just needs someone to believe in him and he can do incredible things. Kinda sucks how the series devolved into "my dyed energy nuke is stronger than yours" but ehhh. Can't win em all. I guess the series was never really about the fights themselves
I watched few minutes of this exact episode on TV when I was little. Then I had to go to a hostel in a different city for 7 years and there was no TV, no internet there. I came back, did engineering, got a job and I see this exact clip on youtube. I got a feeling that I've seen this somewhere. So I download the whole 900 episodes, 5 films of naruto and Shippuden. Best goddamn decision I ever took.
This is what drew me to Naruto so much the fact that he was so outmatched and he knew it yet he would never give up. Man the headband scene still gives me chills
You know, while I'm a more recent fan of Naruto (I introduced myself to the series back in December of 2019), it's moments like this that made me want to see more of how the Naruto storyline would play out, since unlike DBZ for the most part, battles weren't just about having a higher power level or punching the hardest---you actually had to OUTWIT the enemy, as if a war was being fought. In other words, I felt as though the battles were generally more intelligent than one of the fathers of Shonen anime, as great as it was.
If Naruto were to follow video game mechanics, jutsu like the suiryuudan and Sasuke's goukakkyu would consume a lot of chakra and they would be used cautiously due to being advanced jutsus.and team 7 would resort to tactics, basic ninjutsu and genjutsu and doing a lot of taijutsu.
Okay, I will join the people saying THIS is what got them into Naruto. This is what got me into Naruto. I hadn't read the manga and knew nothing about the series and honestly, I like it how back then you had the feeling that some important character might die, like when Sasuke was almost killed by Haku. You knew they had the superpower of being a main character, but there was still some type of tension that made you wonder "but what if they DO kill them off?". But then they added "main character resurrection no jutsu" and it took away a lot of the series' charm, not to mention how it all became about flashy, colorful jutsus and brawn over brain.
this episode has been in my head through every series of this anime, even compared to other's from its time, i don't think the hype i got from this as a child can be beat
Watching this scene makes me remember all the training Naruto did in throwing kunais. He sucks at it and always miss, but because he keep training without giving up he become good at it. Whatever ability you want to learn you can, and it doesn't matter if you aren't good if you train you will become good.

Facts 🔥
You know what angers me the most with late Shippuden and Boruto? It makes past ninjas feel weak in comparaison. During early Naruto, there was a definite scale of power and Zabuza was a very powerful shinobi that team 7 was only able to take down thanks to a great strategy. Nowaday, because the power escalation went way too high, Boruto could easily one shot Zabuza with his bullshit distance rasengan.
@*Floofy shibe* We like it or not, they made Boruto stronger and smarter than part 1 Naruto. So he might have given Zabuza a run for his money.
*Floofy shibe* boruto would clap zabuza
*Floofy shibe* boruto would clap because boruto would honestly clap any1 in the seires
Think Zabuza lost cause his heart wasn't in it anymore. Haku seemed to be holding back vs Sasuke and Naruto.
Prof. Toast just like Naruto shippuden, sudently they are all god like people, I missed old Naruto

Thank god they don't fit with these fights, because these fights are complete borefest unlike what we saw later in Shippuden.

Back in primary school, all of my friends watch naruto and during recess we would like to play naruto.

Back than when Ninja is all about technique and not just some power clash ...
Did you fuckin say Naruto Ball Z??
That’s pretty accurate
Boruto can't come close bc it's all about who makes the most powerful jutsu without proof of training

Boruto, where a mere genin fresh out of academy can tank a kage level threat. Amegakure being the antagonist would've been great, as to remind Naruto of his broken promises. Disclaimer, I haven't Boruto properly yet but 200 episodes is kind of a drag.

Boruto isn't canon because it isn't written by Kishimoto and that's a fact.

Power cap was a thing up to the Great War imo
Second that
I think this kind of fights catapult Naruto into worldwide success, since most of the Anime at the time is about power-ups. Naruto is the only anime that use surprise tactics and strategy. I wish they stay consistent.

OG Naruto feels...different for the lack of better word. It's just power creep becomes off the scale later on in Shippuden.
Ahh, back then when ninja tools could at least make an impact to something. Poor Ten Ten.
Can't imagine the level of pride Kakashi must have had in his students for turning the tides on such a dangerous opponent.
This is what drew me to Naruto so much the fact that he was so outmatched and he knew it yet he would never give up. Man the headband scene still gives me chills
OG Naruto will always be a timeless classic
This 6 minutes was better than the entirety of the 4th Shinobi war arc
I like how the Water Prison reformed Kakashi's hair like the wet cancelled out
That animation and art were brutal
The Land of Waves arc is the only thing worth watching in Naruto.
