      Thank you very much and really glad you enjoyed it! As for the machine shop...Yeah, it's funny I hadn't thought about it for decades but when I caught the whiff of the Guzzi it took me right back. Nice to know you get it also! All the best, have a great weekend, cheers, Phil.

      Good evening Mr.UX - thanks you very much and it's GREAT owning and being back on a Guzzi again...It's just the best place to be! As you know! I've wanted a Stornello forever and they always seemed to come up hundreds of miles away from where I live (most things are actually) so when this came up on my doorstep, it just had to be done.
      More stuff coming soon, have a good evening, cheers, Phil.

    In my opinion, this version, the V7II Stornello, is the most beautiful of the entire V7 series from 2008 to 2024. I bought the bike new in 2016 and still enjoy it. During the introduction of this motorcycle, the bike was depicted with a Bitubo shock absorber with red springs. But at the dealer it turned out that this was an option that had to be paid for separately. All in all, not a cheap purchase at the time compared to the standard V7II. The original rack with leather side case and inner bag contributes to the daily usability. I recently bought the Mistral Velocity Stack. After more than 1000 km in the first week after assembly through the Italian mountain roads and passes, I am very satisfied with this upgrade. I hope that you too will have a lot of fun with the V7II Stornello in the time to come. For me, a motorcycle that I will never part with.

      Good afternoon and many thanks for stopping by and leaving such interesting comments. Great to know that you’ve owned the bike since 2016 and would never part with it. That says it all really.
      In that time have you had any issues with it all? Also I’d never heard of the Mistral Velocity stack before and it seems well worth checking out and it won’t break the bank.
      The most beautiful of the V7 series…Yes, I’d agree with that completely.

    Great 'review' that perfectly resumes what it's all about riding a Guzzi, Phil. That's how all bike reviews should be. Happy to see you back on a very special V7 that I didn't know about before you came up with it, tbh. It's also surprising to see how far ahead Guzzi was with this limited version anticipating the hype for what is called Scrambler bikes (that's at least what my limited knowledge of motorcycle trends tells me).
    I fully agree on your confirmation of all human senses being touched by your Stornello in particular as by Guzzis in general. Taking a good nose of Guzzi smell really is a nice version of Proust's madeleine episode that I particularly enjoy when switching the V2 off after a joyful ride together with the cracking sound created by the hot metal slowly cooling down.
    Your old vids on the V7 convinced me to get a Guzzi beside my baby GS. It was the best decision I made in my motorcycle career. Enjoy your Italian pleasure machine and always ride safe! All the best, Thomas

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      Good afternoon Mr. Reuter : Fabulous to hear from you as always and I very much appreciate your kind and insightful comments. Yes, Guzzi were ahead of the 'scrambler trend' I guess - there was the original Triumph Scrambler around the same time but of course Guzzi did it much better :-) But then I do admit to a whole ton of bias!
      Proust - blimey, I've been attempting "Swann's Way" for what feels like decades and I think I've got through 20 pages at most. I will apply myself...My excuse is that it probably needs to be read in French as opposed to a translation. Does that work as an excuse? I do know the quote though and yes it's very apt "..I quivered, attentive to the extraordinary thing that was happening inside me.."
      This must be a first - YT, Motorcycles and Proust - what an elevated set of viewers and discussion we have!
      Actually, I am surprised as I kinda figured you had always had a Guzzi Thomas...What can I say apart from I'm rather happy it turned out so well for you...As for me, I've got what I wanted and back to where I was a few years back. Things are good and I hope they remain that way for you also Thomas.

      I went with Leffe, the summer variant they’ve got on sale only this time of year to be exact. You can’t really go wrong with a nice Belgian beer in my opinion, but I find the summer one is especially nice.
      Good to know I’ve got two weeks to make the perfect beer selection for the next video. Since this is the subjective view I’m guessing the next one will focus on the facts a bit more. So I’ll try to find a beer that reflects that. Might have to go for something German, something that’s just all business and nothing more. You know, since we’ve got “personal taste” and “smell” checked off in this video already anyway🤔

    Occasionally, I commit to a slow ride on my V7 Stone, and every upshift is at 3,000 RPM. I really love the way it lugs when using a smooth throttle.
    Today, the air had an early autumn crispness. I did the opposite, and tore up the roads. I really love the acceleration and way the gearbox snicks in to the next gear at 5-6,000 RPM..

      Hey good morning Guy - how's Bantam this morning? I bet you loved those visits to Toys R Us :-) The little Stornello is a delight and has definitely found the right place to live - and it's travelled some distance in the UK as it was originally resisted on the South Coast of England and now it finds itself in the most Northerly town in England....It seems to be coping OK though!
      Your mother-in-law...Seranella - what a beautiful name! I quite like the idea of "The machine" though as it most definitely is one. It is a little steam-punk as you say and a couple of little brass valves and taps doing something interesting and Italian and perhaps making wheezing noises like an expresso machine would work well? I could even see a lightweight bullet shaped sidecar with a coffee machine in it? If only I lived somewhere warmer and dryer....
      Equestrian trousers? Not sure if I could pull that off to be honest - although Snoop Dogg at the Olympics looks pretty cool - have you seen the photo's? No idea what's he's doing but he looks smart!
      Brass...You've got me thinking though....Plans being made!

And there's lots of oily bits and lots of (different oils) kicking around....Which should get the mighty Griso and little Stornello side by side, rev them to exactly 3140 RPM and see if some peculiar pythagorean harmonic vibration is created which we can then record and send to Jon to weaken his flagging resolve.
      Hmm...I'm off to the shed now to tinker...All the best Hugh, cheers, Phil.

      Hey UncleBob, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment - much appreciated. Yeah, it's quite nice isn't it?
      As for my favourite Guzzi - of the ones I've owned it's definitely the Stornello but that maybe down to circumstance as much as anything else! It's just lovely and a great balance between a real classic and a modern bike.
      As for other Guzzi's - Hmmm...A Griso, an Ambassador and the single cylinder Falcone would be nice :-) And maybe a V11 sport...actually - there's loads!!
      All the best, cheers, Phil.

    #089 here! Love my Stornello (but I do want to upgrade the terrible suspension). I noticed you have an eagle on your side plates? Mine didn't have that. Just the V7II Stornello name. Anyways, great video!

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hello #089!! Really good to hear from a fellow Stornello owner! Ah yes, the eagle on the side panels - must admit I thought they were standard but having looked at every photo of the Stornello I can find, they must have been added by a previous owner I guess. They looK nice so I'll be keeping them I think.
      Yes, the suspension is probably the weakest part of the bike overall so if you do replace the shocks on yours, I'd be interested to know what you go for and how much difference they make.
      I've also just weather your 'Stornello near miss video' Arrrghgghghg!!

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  5 месяцев назад

      Morning Ian, great to hear from you again - hope all is well with you. I bet you can park your Ducati closer to the garage wall, get rid of the tumble dryer and all the old bits of wood you've been collecting to make room for a small, petite and lovely Guzzi? That could be your job over the weekend :-)
      I've only ever owned one Ducati - the Hyperstrada 939 and it blew my mind - quite possibly the most fun, confidence inspiring bike I've ever owned. They really know how to make bikes handle. The V4's scare me though :-) Anyway, hope you have a good weekend Ian and manage to get out on the Ducati, all the best, cheers, Phil.

      Good morning and thanks for stopping by. Totally spot-on it's the right badge, right sound and the right colour! I've haven't ridden the racer but it is based on the same engine and frame so will be a blast to ride even if it's absolutely not a racer in the same way the Stornello isn't a scrambler. It's all about the 'theatre' of riding a lovely, quirky bike.
      I'm not sure if the racer came with upgraded suspension components though but if so, that's worth having!
