8 years later and this is still the best peugeot specific variator video ive found. thanks mark, saving this in a playlist for when i next get to work on the scoot
@TTOnkeys that's amazing to hear and thank you , I have many other videos on my channel in a play list that may help too, and now you can use a rachet gun which I didn't have back then Take care bud
@marksavage I just bought a 1995 Peugeot Buxy 50, only 700 miles on the clock and sat in dry storage for 26 years essentially - I think all of these scooters share the same or similar parts so I'm hoping it's going to just be the exhaust pipe and washer that needs doing to derestrict. It's only a little runabout so just hoping to get 40mph out of it really. Thanks again Mark for the tutorials, seriously invaluable
Thread lock compound is in my experience a must on the variator and clutch nut if you don't wont them working loose and its also important to have the rollers the right way round in the variator if you don't want a rattle
Simple and perfect tutorial, many thanks this is a job for me next week. Never done before but mechanically minded so should be OK, but your vids have been invaluable, cheers, I'm just bit confused with do I get all same weight rollers or mix them? Just bit worried the bike won't run as it should or rollers will wear quicker, or will it be perfect for setting off and top end.. So many questions haha and what bloody weight do I get (speed flight 2 pug) thanks anyway for all vids
Hi Mark, great to see your videos on speedfights, theres really not alot out there to help us speed fight owners service our bikes aside from your vids. I am servicing my speed fight 3 125cc as i dont trust people anymore and rather do it myself knowing its been done. I 'll see be doing a drive pulley and bearing inspection and i need to ask you. What is Driven pulley caged needle bearing? and also off topic intake silencer drain? I can't seem to find anything on this, it could be a poor translation from french to english in the service manual.. Many thanks
hi bud thanks for the comment its good to hear they help , ok my dad used to say if it ant broke don't fi it, well how about if you cant find it leave it lol!!, poor translation bud, guessing if it drive it can only be the variator system or oil seals maybe and the silencer, again guessing on the exhaust you have that exhaust recirculation valve pipe maybe that and clean it but it's 4t so you should never need to touch that, as in my videos I found the sp3 a bit of a bugger to work on but will help if I can but like the videos that help bud . mark
Hi, Mark thanks for the reply! yeah true. I'm at my 10km service well it's over 11 now and i was supposed to take it back to the shop for this service., however, the place where i bought it from i don't trust them i feel like they don't do half of what they are supposed to, so I am working my way through the checklist. There is a clear hose that runs from the air filter box to the ground which it plugged off , any idea what this is for? i still need to do the below intake silencer drain ( the could be inlet silencer...) Drive pulley bearings and guides. inspect Transmission belt. change Driven pulley caged needle bearing inspect .Kick starter inspect/lub mechanism.Valve clearances. inspect/adjust oh and the bloody spark plug lol
darkprince30 hi that's the drain from the air box take out the dung if any water in it let it out and replug , simple lol if there is any thing in the pipe best clean or change the airfilter , really it's plug, airfilter , then check belt and rollers , brake pads and all light bulbs , sorted job done as I say lol , mark
Thanks again mark. one of the most fustrating things about this model for me is getting new parts. it seems there is only one store online called 3cross motercycles where you can buy parts from and they are not that great pnp charges are ridiculous. anyway i notice for the 50 cc version there are alot of parts avaliable e-bay etc would you know if there are any common components between the 50 cc and 125 ?
not really and I found that too for some reason they never really made many parts for the speedfight3!, sp2 there are loads!, I guess tyres, brakes and shocks the engine is very different due to 50 being t2 and the 125 being 4t. any way bud have fun and keep safe. mark
Legend! Subscribed and liked, my speedfight 2 randomly stopped today then wouldn't pull away, my variator cover cog was not even bolted in never mind tight it was just balanced on there 😂 only just come out of garage having a new clutch aswell so hes obviously not put the bolt back on! 🤬🤬 cheers mark!🤙
oh that's not good bet they didn't tighten it up lol, so guessing you took it back and asked them to fix it or did you do it your self I have 70 speedfight videos on here so hopefully they will help you next time for a bit of diy mark
Hi can I just start by saying excellent video! Will this apply to the Speedfight 4 125? I've had it 20 months and want to derestrict it, I've read the're usually a washer in the exhaust/variator but I'm certain there's a restriction in the ecu as it wants to go past 71mph but its always pulling back down hills? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!👍 subbed
to be honest the 4t sp3 and 4s are cdi restricted and 71 is a god speed but after that they become unstable on the road so id be happy with it as is the old sp2 100cc 2t really did go and i had 81 mph out of and thought i was going to die on the first bend and bad road so 70 mph id be happy with lol if you can find a sports exhaust and change the rollers and clean up it will be a lot happier even a small up jet like in my videos just by 4
Liam Stephenson this mainly works on the speedfights but worth a go on any moped as no damage will be done if removed and if it’s doesn’t increase any speed you can just pop it back in Sometimes just can make the kick start slip so I’ve popped it back on behind the variator if poss Have you changed the rollers bud as I would change them if you have the variator off Please like and sub and watch my other videos may help too Mark
hi mark very interesting videos would this mode work on any scooter. I usually riding a big bike vfr and cbr but got my self a commuter now . though the bike rides smooth the lack of power is killing me I got a piaggio x7 300 . would this help me get some more power and speed .or should I get a malossi multiva.im new to this scooter world. I've been told get a malossi air filter and change the exhaust but I'm not a fan of loudexhaust on scooters. I've been told about the polini variate vits as well .not sure which is better between its and malossi . maybe getting rid of washer might be enough ? . looking foward to your advice .
hi bud. what are you after better pull away or speed, I'm sure the 300cc will do well over the speed limit lol, I have had a few burgmans maybe check out my other videos on them. no don't mess with the set up but you can change the rollers and belt if needed which will help, also if you can find a replacement sports variator do that as well. not all end cans are loud and do let your bike breath better by letting the gases out faster then add another sport air filter in which you may of may not need to upjet, me I'd just change rollers and belt if needed then if you want an end can all should be much better with just them. hope that helps please like share and subscribe , mark
@mark savage hi I have a sym symply 50 4 stroke wanted to de restrict but do you think it’s best getting rid of the washer or there’s counter ? Where the batter is connected to the cdi?
Hey mark , I disassembled mine and I found what I think is that middle washer behind the variator ! Is there one behind it from factory or Did the previous owner f** it up ? 😅 if I understand correctly I can remove the washer in the middle and just keep the one that stays on front of the variator right ? Thank you again 🙏🏼
@@marksavage ok just to be sure , I’ve removed everything and give it a clean new rollers and belt and the order to put it back on is the variator and the slider then the belt then the plate and a washer and nut on front right ? Cause that what I’ve done on mine but I think that in the manual it says that it takes a washer on the crank before fitting the variator is that right ? Or am I right ? 😅 sorry and thanks again , best moped mechanic and content creator ever I’ve learned a lot on your videos thanks again 🙏🏼
Hi mate need ur help i have a speedfight 2 100 and wont start it ran went threw mot then used to bog out n now just wont start ive changed spark plug coil reeds air filter put a bipass cdi ive got compression and spark dont have a clue what to do with it it goes to start for a second but thats it its getting fuel aswell any ideas
Hi Mark, I started on my variator removal today and found that it has a cover with 3 screws, now the issue is, I can get the f*** screws off lol, so my question is do you need that cover as I can see in the video 3 screw holes but no cover! Thanks
hi bud yes they work but with a little play, use the bolts from the cover and use washer to fill them out so the line up with the outer part of the variator then push your foot up against it too then like in my variator videos un do it or like I use a claw hammerit does take a little playing it and I do have 3 other videos on how to do it hope that help please like share and subscribe and entre my free t shirt comp mark
Hi mark, just a quick one. I'm having trouble getting my transmission cover back on after building the engine. Are the 100 and 50xx Bendix the same length also are the covers the same? Cheers pal
hi bud thanks for watching and no they are both different the 100c Bendix is bigger and the teeth are different to the starter so will not work on each other engines the cover you can use a 100cc cover on a 50 but not a 50cc on a 100cc as the clutch housing part is bigger to add getting a 100cc Bendix is very hard as no sellers seem to have them, 50cc parts are easy to get but not 100cc hope that helps please like and sub mark
My chinese scooter factory belt broke today with only about 950 miles . is there a problem that i should look for ? It was a quality gates powergrip belt . thankful for a brother in law with a truck .
hi bud, if you have had it from new then that's not long and just could of been a defective one, before fitting the new one get some wet & dry and rub the VARIATOR and clutch part that the belt goes round and you can get rust on them that could tear the belt so this may of happened hope that helps mark
mark savage ,thanks . will do . friend says he has belts. Ill install one of them to get me going and order a kelvar belt . I need to keep a check on em' very couple of hundred miles to i guess. Getting stranded in the cold far from home is a bummer. Just because something is new dont mean its reliable i guess. Thanks again . I'm hoping a Honda CTX 700 will be a future upgrade by spring . thanks again
Hi Mark, just a quick question today. On a Piaggio Zip is it normal for the washer to be behind the variator as in the first thing that goes on the shaft? I hear a rattle in that area and it’s not my rollers, may it be that?? Thanks Mark
on this moped yes bud , the rattle maybe the Bendix as they do that sometime due to wear but its not a problem not much else but do go over the whole ped and check other bolts and exhaust
Hi ive got a Peugeot elyseo100cc1998 model and its really crappy starting off and very slow going up hills is there enything I can do to improve it thanks
Hey there Master! Thanks for the video and effort. Need help about 2 cases, first I've bought Speedfight 4 around 2 months ago and after 500 km visit my service then they remove the variator washer. İt was limited as 45kmh top speed now it stucks at 48 kmh top speed even I'm not even giving gas %80. Do there's a CDI limitor i think, something stops my bike to go faster than 48 kmh. Cuts the gas and it's like brararara :))) i wanna know if any solution for disable the speed limitor or not Master. Thank you anyway, best regards!
Sp4 are cdi restricted like the sp3 This is why the sp1 and 2s are still so good The garage can destrict them but rollers , variator , upjet and sports exhaust and air filter will just make it pull away fast and little top end bud sorry to say
What is the actual name of the rod that you put the variator on? After I’ve tightened the bolt at the end looked fine then it broke off. So I will need to get a new “rod” could someone help me out with the name of the component or a link?
Hi mark I need you help . If I remove the washer from my 2016 Yamaha Aerox NS R model will it increase the speed and do you have any vids of this ? Thanks
I do have a few videos on the older aerox and well worth a view just type in mark savage aerox, as for the washer it really is for the speedfight range of 2t bikes on one of my videos I took it off a aerox and it made it slower lol, they are normally fast bikes any way but the newer the moped / bike the more restricted they are and this is why people love the older ones sports exhaust and cdi is a better way to go
hi mark, i noticed you dont have the piece off the back that bolts on to the variator with 3 little bolts, does that have to go back on or is it okay to leave off?
Hi , you can leave it off it's only the rear cage and has no real use, it only add weight and could slow the bike down really so chuck it bud, just make sure you clean the variator like in my other videos and replace the rollers if the are damaged . hope that helps please like share and subscribe . mark
hi bud you can use the tool as in this video ruclips.net/video/M54gfbIDKrk/видео.html or with a hammer as in this video ruclips.net/video/hdfk_Z9z__M/видео.html hope these help please like and sub mark
Hi, guys I'm about to do a swap on the rollers for the speedfight. Problem is that it sets of at very high rpm and I want to lower it a bit. My understanding is that I need heavier rollers. So could you guys tell me what size rollers go in the speedfight 2 50cc?
Hi mark need some advice please I've got a standard speedfight 2 100 52 plate I want to change rollers and belt but not sure if it's pre cat or not can you recommend what to get and where from as sites are not very helpful thanks in advance
+Joel Ridler .. it don't matter mate the variator systems are all the same bar them being 50cc or 100cc cat or not water cooled or not . but if you changed the exhaust you would gain 5 / 10 mph easy and the rollers will make a difference as well pull away and top end mate . hope that helps and sure I've got other videos on here that should help
NOOOOOOOoooooooooohave you not watched my DO NOT CUT THE PINK WIRE VIDEOS lolplease do not cut any wires on your speedfight you will only stop the oil pump from working for have no sparkwatch my tuning videos and I have a load of other video on speedfight's that will help too please like share and sub mark
Hi Mark Gy6 crankshaft locks? Will have slight play then locks any ideas why it wont rotate fully or is that normal. Ive ordered a new belt bcoz to loose. Cheers M8
check VARIATOR system, take it off and clean change rollers and check belt and clutch as it maybe this, if not check other side - fan side also check rear brakes are jamming it otherwise could be piston head damage
@@marksavage i checked stator wheel turned nut and it turns then locks as does driveshaft. Could it be timing chain thats off. Or as you said could be damaged piston head? Thanks.
@@marksavage i took engine apart. Damaged piston and cylinder head. Had a massive hole in piston knackered cylinder head. Why would this happen? I upgraded from 125cc to 150cc new engine time to buy a brand new bike not 2nd hand lol
@@jasonsmith1714 like I say big bore kits ! Don't do it !! They are iften not good quality made and fail They get hot and fail bud Go back to a 125 cc head and piston bud
Hello I been watching your videos about speedfights I got speedfight 2 I think my rear bearings are gonna i I'm not sure where they are (think there behind my clutch but need some advice thanks
hi like in many of my variator videos, I combi them so 3x 3g and 3x6g, but 5g to 7g are fine, otherwise you will get quick pull away but no top end or the other way no pull away but when you get there lots of top end lol, thanks for watching hope this helps, please like share and subscribe . mark
hello mark me again got cover off with the mallet warmed it up 1st,but when I tried to take nut off variator the whole thing turned around with the nut.tried a block of wood pressed against teeth, tried wedging a screw driver between teeth and starter cog no luck still spun around, any ideas part from buying a special tool.
hi i do have videos on how to get the nut of most of the time with a claw hammer give it a watch as it does work in the way i show you , otherwise there is a tool you can buy from e bay, mark
+Andrew Gallacher it's something you never normally need to touch, I have done a few video's on the gear box on here have a look as I show you where it is and how to do it . check out Speedfight inside a gearbox mark savage
Hey mark I got a belt on my scooter that doesn’t go all the way up the variator my rollers are 5 and 7g apart from each other obviously and I don’t know what to do anymore and ideas
the belt should fit ,put it around the clutch first and pull it open a little then around the variator and then put the outer part on it is really really tight then its the wrong belt bud , check out my variator and clutch videos for more help
On speedfights I take the washer off as it is a restrictor Take care bud and remember to clean the variator and reseat the rollers , plus check and replace them in needed
@@marksavage Hi Mark thanks for answer i am thnkis on this type of shims www.maxiscoot.com/stage6-variator-spacers-d-13mm-yamaha-aerox-bw-s-s6-5155013-3.html I have Malossi multivar variator.
i have speedfight 1 100cc it was going 60mph but now it goes 47mph do you know whats problem? And when im turning on it aleays shows red oil lamp and it takes several minutes to turn on scooter but it has oil?
How does removing that washer add speed? Us guys with gy6 swaps tend to run them to space the variator away from the belt so the belt sits as low as possible in there. Thanks for the response
hi bud watch this video ruclips.net/video/gRHOsTmd-2w/видео.html the washer stops the belt from closing and from top speed, hope that helps and thanks for watching bud there are many more helpful videos to watch but most on 2t and some on 4t mopeds please like share and sub mark
mark savage that's so weird so is the belt I'm running to thick then? Because without that washer the belt sits too high up in the variator pulleys and it feels like I'm starting off in second gear.
this doesn't work on all mopeds bud so if your bike runs better with it bud leave it in as I have had this on a NRG so left it in but does work on the speedfights mark
thats odd to have so much slap, however it is a gy6 engine and they run as long as you keep them topped up with 4 t engine oil and service them, otherwise they just go bang lol tbh they really are only made to do 30mph so any extra it great, I do have a few videos on these mopeds but only to chat about them mark
these little mopeds are restricted by cdi, you can change the rollers and exhaust and with a little upjet you will get more out of them but they are built for mpg not mph you will get better pull away with the rollers and a clean the variator while you there mark
hi bud I do have a few video's on how to do it, check out my other channel- it's the one with the blue speedfight on it - have a look on my channel and go down to my subscribe and you will find it, on there I have a link to all my speedfight videos and may that will help you , hope that helps bud and please like and share, thanks mark
Hi bud I have over 70 videos on speedfights and 150 on mopeds that will help you with all you moped problems, as for the rollers as in my many videos on the variator after cleaning the variator if the rollers are old or square then you need to change then for new ones. best look at 6g's for low and top end performance hope that helps , please like and sub mark
Wiktor Banasiak bot really bud , I have done it on some and it seem too but others no so best leave it Better of sports exhaust Sports variator and 6g rollers And an up jet by 4 Also I know I don’t love them but a sports air filter as they are tucked up so don’t get water on them I have many aerox videos give them a watch on my channel as lots of good videos to watch Please like and sub Mark
+Ellesse Smith hi, if you have not changed the piston then it must be that as they do go a lot and sometimes you can not see the damage till you take off the head which is really easy to do , best change the whole piston and not just the rings and they are cheap to buy
hey mark i cant for the life of me remove the variator nut! so far i used a two man team to man-handle it, a 1500 lbs impact driver, and the hold and hammer a way method...but still nothing! wats next??
I've had this !! , ok you may need to buy the variator tool it's on e bay and the hammer lol, or 1 soak in wd40 , 2 heat it up, 3 take off the stator coil cover and use a 14mm on the side and try also on the variator side it should give you a bit more turn but be careful for to munch the nut, on one of my video's I show the new nut removal tool if you do if that happens and it does . hope my videos help bud there are 50 of them and please like the ones that help. mark
hi bud are you talking about the VARIATOR nut? you have put it back on tight and not it keeps turning? it it turning and the whole thing it or just the nut? if it the whole thing then that really bad, if it just the nut check the thread on the nut and try another nut. if its the thread on the crank that also bad bud so check it bud and see whats up mark
Thanks for answering! Okay, I’ll check if its just the nut. The scooter is working like normal tho. Could there still be something serious even if everything seems ok?
Fredrik Bernitz Gravning if it’s working then leave it but I guess if it kept tuning it may come undone or loosen so you have no drive Otherwise it maybe fine bud ride local give it some and if all ok then good leave it If it slips then your not too far away from home to push it back I have drilled through the nut before and put a pin through it to keep it tight but not the best idea otherwise it’s a change of crank Bugger ! Mark
Hello mark Matey ... I’m currently 14 and I’m 15 in a week or so ... and for my 16th me and my dad have agreed to get me a speed fighter 4 and everything else I need for my bike etc for my 16th ... so obviosuly he needs to save up etc ... but I’d really prefer to unrestrict it when I get it .... probably have to do t by myself as being 16 I doubt the dealer would do it or a garage ... could you spare any help ? Do you know what would be restricted on her ? Or what I’d need to do .... I’m getting the Peugeot speed fighter 4 50cc liquid cooled total sport version .... any help would be greatly appreciated ... thanks again buddy ... or if anyone can help me
JustLetMe Explain hi bud the speedfight 3&4 are very hard to derestricted , a garage will do it as it's not illegal for them to do it Most know that 30 mph is not safe on the roads It come down to you do 30 in a 30 that's what the police don't like Take care bud and enjoy your bike when you get it Thanks for watching please like share and subscribe , mark
Would they do it even though I’m 16 ? I’ve heard is pretty hard to do ... any guidance on how much I should be looking to pay ? I also think 30 isn’t too safe and want more performance safety and lifespan on my bike .. I’m only 16 in another year thought but better start making my decisions now haha ... have done mate
as said bud it's the bike not the person, it's down to you, they may advise you that as your 16 it's not really legal but yes much safer on the roads today. bet you can't wait to get on the road lol, oh to be 16 again!!, I used to ride my old fizzy and I had an old Suzuki b120 when I was 12 off rode well down east beach .no police in them days well ones that cared that a little lad was riding off road, the good old days . mark
Hi I have 450 video 70 of them all on speedfight and in total over 150 on moped Sit down bud and go through them they will help Here's one on jetting ruclips.net/video/wkYW5SkQ1bc/видео.html
Oh wow looks like you have done it all , ok it could be your oil seals ! Try taking of your air filter and put your hand over the open end of your carb and turn over the engine , your hand should get wet with petrol if not it sounds like your oil seals have gone , have a go and let's know but could just be your carb as it's the only thing u haven't changed lol
@@payback6954 oh 100cc needed that info 9g to 10g rollers Check the cover is a 100cc and not the smaller 50cc Parts for yours are very hard to get Try 2nd hand or rub down clean up and put in new rollers and make sure its the right belt
I just did this with my 1999 sp1 I followed the instructions 100% and it did absolutely nothing to my top speed removing the washer..maybe abit to the acceleration though not sure..anyway i went ahead and removed the plate behind the rollers with the 3 little screws and that did something..went from 51 to 70km/h. I havent got much knowledge about scooters but i guess my speedfight just wanna be special huh
Most of the time that restricter is already off As in my other videos bid While that was on it wouldn't have been able to open fully New rollers 6g All good bud
emilio the washer removal is mainly for the speedfight as a restrictor this sometimes ca work on other bikes but not all the time as in your case Pop it back and look into changing the roller and cleaning the variator Sports exhaust and maybe up jetting with a sports air filter Mark
Wade Barnes to be honest is not mess around with it Upgrade the variator by changing the rollers as in my videos Sports exhaust and maybe even a up jet All these will help but it is a 4t but should she 10 mph if not cdi restricted I have 150 moped videos that will help in some way Please like and sub Mark
there are four types as in my cdi / ecu video. I have found any other than the speedfight cdi's don't last long so stick to the Peugeot ones and upgrade the other items like exhaust, air filter insert, variator / rollers and so on andHI .... thanks for watching Mark
This is a common problem as the thread wears, so you have a few things you can do I do have a video of this happening to me and have over 70 speedfight videos that will help and another channel with all them on a play list worth a watch lock tight and put it on as hard as you can lock tight and take off the exhaust so you can take off the fan cover ,take off the fan and get a socket on that bolt and use two sockets so you can get more push so to tighten as in one of my videos if that fails ive seen people drill through but that's very hard last change crank which I have had to do many times!!!
Casey Painter so you have a jog not speedfight , this really is for the speedfight not other makes so this can happen , not sure about 9 n ? In my videos I also talk about the weight of the rollers so I combo them but really I stay around a total weight of 30g This gives you good pull away and top end For you bud I'd put it back if it worse and maybe if you are getting poor pull away I would replace / change my rollers , check belt , maybe a sports exhaust , air filter or re jetting , hope that helps but I do have some aerox videos that may help , please like share and subscribe , mark
Friend put belt on said and i saw it myself 3 of the variator weights were in sideways . New belt, cleaning the belt dust and debris , putting weights in right the scooter id quieter, pulls out smoother but its slower now . only thing before going down hill it never went over 40mph engine whinned bad. Now its almost 50mph down hill and engine doesnt whine . wth?
hi sounds like its down to the weight of the rollers, so what weight did you use? use 6 g's and make sure you clean the variator and they go in right ,this should help mark
@@marksavage i used factory rollers dont know weight. I will order some of weight you recommend . it will haul ass down hill I must say . im also going to check belt every 2 or 3 weeks from now on . Untill i hope i can upgrade to a Honda CTX 700. They're dual clutch i hope they're trouble free . thanks
just a note, if the belt snaps the variator will open up and the rollers will come out of there normal seating position I find 6g just a good all round weight , the ctx is a nice easy bike to ride so enjoy
@@marksavage one more thing , some things I've read belt has to be broke in . I remember that after buying it new I noticed after 200 miles it started going faster .
George Jennings umm NO never heard that ever !! There is no running in or the variator belt not cam belt nor fan belt Once seated that’s it all ready to go The rollers may Seat in and free up , clutch may settle down but the only running in is the piston bud But the may wear a little allowing the variator to open and close more which will help with the speed so I guess a little wearing in not running in lol Away way bud good to hear your back on the road Mark
I have problem that my speedfight 2 trows out oil from the back of carb into airfilter housing ..after i put on new carb not original ..i changed membrane but still same problem...help
zeeaars hi Really need to stick to the original carb bud a lot of off the market carbs mess around The engine suck the fuel into the engine along with the 2t oil So if you are getting oil back in to the air filter you mix is wrong Watch my carb videos and on the air petrol mix where they start from If you oil was ok before and wasn’t doing this then it could be your now not getting the 2t oil into your engine and it could seize !! If it’s running ok then check your oil pump or start adding it to your petrol tank ! Hope that helps watch some more of my other carb and bike videos they should help and please like share and subscribe Mark
Aliyah henderson you know the hate 70cc kits bud as in my no 70cc kit video Ok variator time bud Watch my video on them That will sort it from roller to belt and clutch Then service and plug and it will have you moving again Trust me Mark

dust sp3 oh dear I have only a few videos on sp3 as they are hard to work on They are restricted but Exhaust Carb Roller/ variator And Cdi!!!! You will need to get it unrestricted by a garage or Unrestricted cdi Hars to get !!
Caroline Field normally the starter relay then on the frame the power regulator and if inmob that will be there too Thanks for watching Please like and sub Mark
hi bud not sure what you are asking? , but as before if you are asking about the washer the sp3's are a bit different but worth taking the variator off to check and clean or change the rollers/ belt and clutch ,mark
A simple 7 year old tutorial, use a newer camera now plus use a impact drill now than the hammer But the basics are the same 6g rollers , clean and no washer
This washer should go first on the shaft. Put on the washer, the bush with the variator cap and the wheel and you will see that there is no play. Without the washer, there will be a gap.
8 years later and this is still the best peugeot specific variator video ive found. thanks mark, saving this in a playlist for when i next get to work on the scoot
@TTOnkeys that's amazing to hear and thank you , I have many other videos on my channel in a play list that may help too, and now you can use a rachet gun which I didn't have back then
Take care bud
So many questions haha and what bloody weight do I get (speed flight 2 pug) thanks anyway for all vids
hi mark
thanks for he video very helpful. just one ? if the thickness of the washer was made thinner would it make the bike just a little bit faster?
simple answer bud . Yes
thanks for watching
Hi, Mark
I love all the videos and have been very helpful. can I suggest that maybe you redo your old videos now you have an HD camera?
I have thought about that for a while and have a bike I could them with as my old videos were not the best lol thanks for the advice bud . mark
@mark savage is there anyway you could contact me could use your help atm
There is a clear hose that runs from the air filter box to the ground which it plugged off , any idea what this is for? i still need to do the below
intake silencer drain ( the could be inlet silencer...)
Drive pulley bearings and guides. inspect
Transmission belt. change
Driven pulley caged needle bearing inspect
.Kick starter inspect/lub
mechanism.Valve clearances. inspect/adjust
oh and the bloody spark plug lol
darkprince30 hi that's the drain from the air box take out the dung if any water in it let it out and replug , simple lol if there is any thing in the pipe best clean or change the airfilter , really it's plug, airfilter , then check belt and rollers , brake pads and all light bulbs , sorted job done as I say lol , mark
🤬🤬 cheers mark!🤙
oh that's not good bet they didn't tighten it up lol, so guessing you took it back and asked them to fix it or did you do it your self
I have 70 speedfight videos on here so hopefully they will help you next time for a bit of diy
mark
@@marksavage I've come across something is there a way I can send you a picture , I dont have a clue what it is or where it goes 😂
Pyey95 upload it on you channel for me and let me know and I’ll give it a look
Hi can I just start by saying excellent video! Will this apply to the Speedfight 4 125? I've had it 20 months and want to derestrict it, I've read the're usually a washer in the exhaust/variator but I'm certain there's a restriction in the ecu as it wants to go past 71mph but its always pulling back down hills? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!👍 subbed
Also if I get said Washers off and Cdi change if needed will I need new components to handle the extra ooohmh? Sorry for the newbie question 😄
to be honest the 4t sp3 and 4s are cdi restricted and 71 is a god speed but after that they become unstable on the road so id be happy with it as is
the old sp2 100cc 2t really did go and i had 81 mph out of and thought i was going to die on the first bend and bad road so 70 mph id be happy with lol
if you can find a sports exhaust and change the rollers and clean up it will be a lot happier even a small up jet like in my videos just by 4
Hi mark, love the videos! I have a honda nsc50. If I remove the restrictor washer in the variator will it make my moped go faster? Thanks.
Liam Stephenson this mainly works on the speedfights but worth a go on any moped as no damage will be done if removed and if it’s doesn’t increase any speed you can just pop it back in
Sometimes just can make the kick start slip so I’ve popped it back on behind the variator if poss
Have you changed the rollers bud as I would change them if you have the variator off
Please like and sub and watch my other videos may help too
Mark
Alright thanks. I haven’t added anything, the moped is still stock. If I do deristrict my moped, will it break it or cause damage at all?
hi mark very interesting videos would this mode work on any scooter. I've been told about the polini variate vits as well .not sure which is better between its and malossi . maybe getting rid of washer might be enough ? . looking foward to your advice .
hi bud. what are you after better pull away or speed, I'm sure the 300cc will do well over the speed limit lol, I have had a few burgmans maybe check out my other videos on them. no don't mess with the set up but you can change the rollers and belt if needed which will help, also if you can find a replacement sports variator do that as well. not all end cans are loud and do let your bike breath better by letting the gases out faster then add another sport air filter in which you may of may not need to upjet, me I'd just change rollers and belt if needed then if you want an end can all should be much better with just them. hope that helps please like share and subscribe , mark
mark savage a bit of both to be honest . piggin gets up to 83mph .
Thank you again 🙏🏼
yes bud and yes mate think your right there
@@marksavage ok just to be sure , I’ve removed everything and give it a clean new rollers and belt and the order to put it back on is the variator and the slider then the belt then the plate and a washer and nut on front right ?
Do the groves where the rollers sit ever wear out?. Cheers
Hi Mark,
I started on my variator removal today and found that it has a cover with 3 screws, now the issue is, I can get the f*** screws off lol, so my question is do you need that cover as I can see in the video 3 screw holes but no cover!
Thanks
hi bud yes they work but with a little play, use the bolts from the cover and use washer to fill them out so the line up with the outer part of the variator then push your foot up against it too then like in my variator videos un do it or like I use a claw hammerit does take a little playing it and I do have 3 other videos on how to do it hope that help please like share and subscribe and entre my free t shirt comp mark
Hi mark, just a quick one. I'm having trouble getting my transmission cover back on after building the engine. Are the 100 and 50xx Bendix the same length also are the covers the same? Cheers pal
hi bud thanks for watching
and no they are both different the 100c Bendix is bigger and the teeth are different to the starter so will not work on each other engines
the cover you can use a 100cc cover on a 50 but not a 50cc on a 100cc as the clutch housing part is bigger
to add getting a 100cc Bendix is very hard as no sellers seem to have them, 50cc parts are easy to get but not 100cc
hope that helps please like and sub
mark
Thanks mate do u have spars and repair
I had one behind the case with the rollers in that I took out. It didn’t affect speed but it did make me accelerate faster. Was I right in doing that
My chinese scooter factory belt broke today with only about 950 miles . is there a problem that i should look for ? It was a quality gates powergrip belt . thankful for a brother in law with a truck .
hi bud, if you have had it from new then that's not long and just could of been a defective one, before fitting the new one get some wet & dry and rub the VARIATOR and clutch part that the belt goes round and you can get rust on them that could tear the belt so this may of happened
hope that helps
mark
mark savage ,thanks . will do . friend says he has belts.
That's why I use slider weights they don't melt and get flat spots..
Hi Mark, just a quick question today. On a Piaggio Zip is it normal for the washer to be behind the variator as in the first thing that goes on the shaft? I hear a rattle in that area and it’s not my rollers, may it be that??
Thanks Mark
on this moped yes bud , the rattle maybe the Bendix as they do that sometime due to wear but its not a problem
not much else but do go over the whole ped and check other bolts and exhaust
mark savage Can I remove the washer on my piaggio zip or is this not a good idea?
@@jaydenplaysguitar3896 on the zip no not really as it puts the belt out of line
Btw I'm about +2000 km now, still using it like i said 48 kmh. Just note :)
Sp4 are cdi restricted like the sp3
This is why the sp1 and 2s are still so good
The garage can destrict them but rollers , variator , upjet and sports exhaust and air filter will just make it pull away fast and little top end bud sorry to say
Thanks
I do have a few videos on the older aerox and well worth a view just type in mark savage aerox, as for the washer it really is for the speedfight range of 2t bikes
on one of my videos I took it off a aerox and it made it slower lol, they are normally fast bikes any way but the newer the moped / bike the more restricted they are and this is why people love the older ones
sports exhaust and cdi is a better way to go
mark savage cheers
hi mark, i noticed you dont have the piece off the back that bolts on to the variator with 3 little bolts, does that have to go back on or is it okay to leave off?
Hi , you can leave it off it's only the rear cage and has no real use, it only add weight and could slow the bike down really so chuck it bud, just make sure you clean the variator like in my other videos and replace the rollers if the are damaged . hope that helps please like share and subscribe . mark
yeah clean them and keep a eye on them, managed to bring the ped alive with the help of your videos
Big thanks from Ireland Mark, great vid and really helpfull.

Hi, guys I'm about to do a swap on the rollers for the speedfight. Problem is that it sets of at very high rpm and I want to lower it a bit. My understanding is that I need heavier rollers. So could you guys tell me what size rollers go in the speedfight 2 50cc?

+Joel Ridler .. it don't matter mate the variator systems are all the same bar them being 50cc or 100cc cat or not water cooled or not . but if you changed the exhaust you would gain 5 / 10 mph easy and the rollers will make a difference as well pull away and top end mate . hope that helps and sure I've got other videos on here that should help

Gy6 crankshaft locks?
Will have slight play then locks any ideas why it wont rotate fully or is that normal.
Ive ordered a new belt bcoz to loose.

check VARIATOR system, take it off and clean change rollers and check belt and clutch as it maybe this, if not check other side - fan side also check rear brakes are jamming it
otherwise could be piston head damage

mark savage that's so weird so is the belt I'm running to thick then? Because without that washer the belt sits too high up in the variator pulleys and it feels like I'm starting off in second gear.
The weird thing is that the belt is a direct factory replacment but also has a good amount of slap...any help is appreciated thanks
this doesn't work on all mopeds bud so if your bike runs better with it bud leave it in as I have had this on a NRG so left it in but does work on the speedfights
mark
thats odd to have so much slap, however it is a gy6 engine and they run as long as you keep them topped up with 4 t engine oil and service them, otherwise they just go bang lol
tbh they really are only made to do 30mph so any extra it great, I do have a few videos on these mopeds but only to chat about them

Hi mate i need your help. I have a Sim Simply 50cc 2016 and its restricted to 30mhp. What can be done to make it go faster. Thank you.
these little mopeds are restricted by cdi, you can change the rollers and exhaust and with a little upjet you will get more out of them but they are built for mpg not mph
you will get better pull away with the rollers and a clean the variator while you there

I've had this !! , ok you may need to buy the variator tool it's on e bay and the hammer lol, or 1 soak in wd40 , 2 heat it up, 3 take off the stator coil cover and use a 14mm on the side and try also on the variator side it should give you a bit more turn but be careful for to munch the nut, on one of my video's I show the new nut removal tool if you do if that happens and it does . hope my videos help bud there are 50 of them and please like the ones that help. mark
I tightened it like you said and suddenly I could tighten even more :s Could I have broken something?
hi bud
are you talking about the VARIATOR nut? you have put it back on tight and not it keeps turning? it it turning and the whole thing it or just the nut?
if it the whole thing then that really bad, if it just the nut check the thread on the nut and try another nut.
if its the thread on the crank that also bad bud
so check it bud and see whats up
mark
Thanks for answering!
Okay, I’ll check if its just the nut. The scooter is working like normal tho. Could there still be something serious even if everything seems ok?
Fredrik Bernitz Gravning if it’s working then leave it but I guess if it kept tuning it may come undone or loosen so you have no drive
Otherwise it maybe fine bud ride local give it some and if all ok then good leave it
If it slips then your not too far away from home to push it back
I have drilled through the nut before and put a pin through it to keep it tight but not the best idea otherwise it’s a change of crank
Bugger !
Mark
Okey! I’ve driven it two days now and it seem fine. Is it deffenetly the nut then? Or could it still be something serious further in there?
Would it not run then?
When I remove washer From variator, did i take off speed limit on my 50cc speedfight 2?

JustLetMe Explain hi bud the speedfight 3&4 are very hard to derestricted , a garage will do it as it's not illegal for them to do it
Most know that 30 mph is not safe on the roads

Take care bud and enjoy your bike when you get it

as said bud it's the bike not the person, it's down to you, they may advise you that as your 16 it's not really legal but yes much safer on the roads today.

@@payback6954 oh 100cc needed that info 9g to 10g rollers
Check the cover is a 100cc and not the smaller 50cc
Parts for yours are very hard to get
Try 2nd hand or rub down clean up and put in new rollers and make sure its the right belt
Do u no what’s the best thing to clean it up better thanks
And if that doesn’t work I have found a Peugeot Speedfight 2 100 Malossi Multivar 2000 Variator Kit for £40 brand new
hi mark, I just took the variator off and there's a thin washer there, is that meant to be there or not.....
Imogen Tarrant it is to slow the bike down , as the n the the video bud take it off and the bike will go faster bud
Most of the time that restricter is already off
As in my other videos bid
While that was on it wouldn't have been able to open fully
New rollers 6g
All good bud
@@marksavage Yep all good..also learned how to change the rollers so thank u very much sir!
i took the variator washer out of my yamaha jogr but i didnt notice any difference, what could the reason be?
emilio the washer removal is mainly for the speedfight as a restrictor this sometimes ca work on other bikes but not all the time as in your case
Pop it back and look into changing the roller and cleaning the variator
Sports exhaust and maybe up jetting with a sports air filter
Mark
What's the best gear to put in a GY6 for top speed in the transmission
Wade Barnes to be honest is not mess around with it
Upgrade the variator by changing the rollers as in my videos
Sports exhaust and maybe even a up jet
All these will help but it is a 4t but should she 10 mph if not cdi restricted
I have 150 moped videos that will help in some way
Please like and sub
Mark
What ecu do you recommend for speed fight 2
there are four types as in my cdi / ecu video. I have found any other than the speedfight cdi's don't last long so stick to the Peugeot ones and upgrade the other items like exhaust, air filter insert, variator / rollers and so on andHI .... thanks for watching Mark
NEED HELP! keeps throwing the variator bolt straight off and won’t start might start but bolt will come off eventually
This is a common problem as the thread wears, so you have a few things you can do
I do have a video of this happening to me and have over 70 speedfight videos that will help and another channel with all them on a play list worth a watch
lock tight and put it on as hard as you can
lock tight and take off the exhaust so you can take off the fan cover ,take off the fan and get a socket on that bolt and use two sockets so you can get more push so to tighten as in one of my videos
if that fails ive seen people drill through but that's very hard
last change crank which I have had to do many times!!!
I removed the washer 9n my jog and now it has slower take offs. is this the norm?
Casey Painter so you have a jog not speedfight , this really is for the speedfight not other makes so this can happen , not sure about 9 n ? In my videos I also talk about the weight of the rollers so I combo them but really I stay around a total weight of 30g
This gives you good pull away and top end
For you bud I'd put it back if it worse and maybe if you are getting poor pull away I would replace / change my rollers , check belt , maybe a sports exhaust , air filter or re jetting , hope that helps but I do have some aerox videos that may help , please like share and subscribe , mark
late reply but yes it's normal to have slower take offs because the belt is sitting higher than normal on the variator
hi mark orderd 3.6gram and 6gram are these ok for scooter
yes they should be fine and as in my video put them in 2 then 6 then 3 and so on , this should work well/ mark
I THINK THE WASHER GIVE LOWER GEAR OF TAKE OFF?
yes it restricts you on pull away so taking it off it will give you better pull away
I have another video on how it works on my channel
Thanks for sharing !
thanks for watching ,there's another 70 speedfight videos on my channel that may also help bud plus lots of there's
Now its almost 50mph down hill and engine doesnt whine . wth?
hi
sounds like its down to the weight of the rollers, so what weight did you use?
use 6 g's and make sure you clean the variator and they go in right ,this should help
mark
@@marksavage i used factory rollers dont know weight. I will order some of weight you recommend . it will haul ass down hill I must say . im also going to check belt every 2 or 3 weeks from now on . Untill i hope i can upgrade to a Honda CTX 700. They're dual clutch i hope they're trouble free . thanks
just a note, if the belt snaps the variator will open up and the rollers will come out of there normal seating position
I find 6g just a good all round weight , the ctx is a nice easy bike to ride so enjoy
@@marksavage one more thing , some things I've read belt has to be broke in . I remember that after buying it new I noticed after 200 miles it started going faster .
George Jennings umm NO never heard that ever !!
There is no running in or the variator belt not cam belt nor fan belt
Once seated that’s it all ready to go
The rollers may Seat in and free up , clutch may settle down but the only running in is the piston bud
But the may wear a little allowing the variator to open and close more which will help with the speed so I guess a little wearing in not running in lol
Away way bud good to hear your back on the road
Mark
I have problem that my speedfight 2 trows out oil from the back of carb into airfilter housing ..after i put on new carb not original ..i changed membrane but still same problem...help
zeeaars hi
Really need to stick to the original carb bud a lot of off the market carbs mess around
The engine suck the fuel into the engine along with the 2t oil
So if you are getting oil back in to the air filter you mix is wrong
Watch my carb videos and on the air petrol mix where they start from
If you oil was ok before and wasn’t doing this then it could be your now not getting the 2t oil into your engine and it could seize !!
If it’s running ok then check your oil pump or start adding it to your petrol tank !
Hope that helps watch some more of my other carb and bike videos they should help and please like share and subscribe
Mark
mark savage thanks mate i will check youre carb video
Hi Would you be interested in doing some work on my piaggio typhoon ped.
Aliyah henderson I have played with a few
What’s up with yours bud
Mark
mark savage It pulls away slowly and slowly builds up, which takes around 10 seconds to get to full power. I would like a 70s kit put on it
Aliyah henderson you know the hate 70cc kits bud as in my no 70cc kit video
Ok variator time bud
Watch my video on them
That will sort it from roller to belt and clutch
Then service and plug and it will have you moving again
Trust me
Mark
mark savage I’ve changed the rollers from 5.5g to 7g, but it’s still doing exactly the same. Could it be something else. Do I have to change the whole variater. Thanks for your reply

Still 32mph flat very slow uphill!
Anybtjng else to try cheers
dust sp3 oh dear
I have only a few videos on sp3 as they are hard to work on
They are restricted but
Exhaust
Carb
Roller/ variator
And
Cdi!!!!
You will need to get it unrestricted by a garage or
Unrestricted cdi
Hars to get !!
mark savage ok cheers top guy
Would you chose a speedfight 2 over 3?
dust every time bud
Fast ,easy to work on ,parts easier to get hold off , look better , all round more fun
can you give the size of the variator parts please
for the speedfights 50cc there is only one size as none really sell the 100cc one
What goes in front of the battery compartment
Caroline Field normally the starter relay then on the frame the power regulator and if inmob that will be there too
Thanks for watching

Mark
what would fit in my speedfight 3 ....
hi bud not sure what you are asking? , but as before if you are asking about the washer the sp3's are a bit different but worth taking the variator off to check and clean or change the rollers/ belt and clutch ,mark
Would a speedfight 2 engine fit my speedfight 3 2010 model
no mate very different and the loom set is also not the same , mark
Is it the same on a 100cc
yes bud it is , thanks for watching
Thank you
Thx mark
My Speedfight runs great but when you pull off it goes very slow for abought 4 seconds before it boosts and pull properly
If anyone had advice would be greatly appreciated
Speaker boss 12 could be worn rings bud , you could upjet or change the rollers like in my videos , mark
Wicked cheers For the fast reply mate
will this work on a scout 49?
changing the rollers on any moped will help but yours in 4 t so it's restricted in different ways but go for it bud. mark
mark savage thanks for advice great video
thats ok bud ,all i ask is to like share and subsrcibe . mark
Hi does my speedfight 3 have that washer on
+Gareth James all speedfight's have this washer from new
+mark “marky bike” savage thanks it's on a 61 plate I don't have if it has it on or not it does 41
+Gareth James you will have to check so take the side cover off like in my other videos 2 & 3s are basically the same
Gareth James
Hi could you do mine if I was yo bring it to you
SHAFT CLEAN IT
My speedfight 3 got only 3km/h faster ☹️
They are cdi restricted bud
240p thanks mark...haha
A simple 7 year old tutorial, use a newer camera now plus use a impact drill now than the hammer
But the basics are the same 6g rollers , clean and no washer
@@marksavage hehe i was only kidding mate...
Love your accent. "chuck it" haha
This washer should go first on the shaft. Put on the washer, the bush with the variator cap and the wheel and you will see that there is no play. Without the washer, there will be a gap.
