It’s great that I found someone with the same oil burning issues and same torn Sequoia seats!

You did a good job. I've had to do several Sequoia seats, as well as several land cruiser seats. Hog rings are good, but generally i prefer the zipties. I've never had them fail on me so I think you are good to go. Found some cloth sequoia seats last time and swapped them out after i pulled the covers and put in seat heaters. Seriously more comfortable than the leather seats in my opinion. I am no professional installer, so as a diyer i've found zipties to be better for me. Congrats!

Glad to hear that about the zipties. Thanks for the tips too!

I was thinking the same thing while editing ... I don't even remember hearing them at the time ... but I think it was someone testing out their fireworks :-)

I’ve been wanting to do this to replace the seat warmer in my drivers seat. Hopefully I can work up the courage to do it and not make things worse

Hey dave. I wanted to let you know that after completely rebuilding my 1zz engine with new everything, new pistons/rings (upgraded wiseco) new valve seals. New head, valve job, bored over .5. it still burns oil. I think its just a design of the engine is flawed. I think it runs a bit too hot and the oil mist inside the crank case gets vaporized from the fuel efficient lean burning hot 1zz. Then it gets sucked into the pvc or the breather and gets burnt in the combustion chamber. I have a theory that if we added a oil cooler than we could control this vaporied oil better.
When i slow down or do fast rev match down shifts, i can smell a very harsh almost painful smell. It makes me think the unburnt hot crank case oil is being burnt incompletely within the hot exhaust manifold. This is why i think the precats fail on the 1zz so often.
I have removed my cats for experiments so i can smell the exhaust better.

Ouch.... but I thought you couldn't rebore these engines. I hope the new pistons and rings work on mine, some others have definitely had sucess.

Well... doing some research I watched several videos of white vinegar doing the trick to free up piston rings .. specially the oil ones... when no chemical could.

:-) ... .and that relates to upholstery how? ... Just kidding. I've looked into vinegar and it only seems to work if rust is what is sticking the rings, but if you can reply with link to an article or video that supports, please do. Thanks for the comment!

It looks "ok" but the seat covers look very big for the foam and a little sloppy. Not a huge fan of those aftermarket covers. Sorry. Just doesn't look good.
