    The 2025 NFL Draft is weaker than this one, and the Falcons will have a lower pick next year. I would not take it at all. Glad to have Olu Fashanu

      @micahwohlmorantz 18 дней назад

      Should have gone the opposite route and offered the falcons the jets 25 first rounder to go up for odunze. Also, why didn’t the jets try to go up to number 7? That was the most obvious top ten team to trade back to number 10. Suggests to me that they really didn’t want to trade up and the idea that they wanted to trade up is just to appease the media/fans.

    Great post, and fun to speculate on, but JD was right to stick with Fashanu.

    I'm very happy with what we did. Yes I would have loved the top dog receiver like nabers or o'dunze but I'm fine with Malachi. Corley, you never know he could end up being better than the top three guys. Look at tank Dell . Now we also have our franchise left tackle considering becton didn't work out.

    This is a prime example of hindsight being 20/20. Who could Atlanta want that would be worth that haul? Trader Joe could have also tried to move back into the first round if there was a player he liked.

    Trade would’ve made a ton of sense if it was last year. The Rodgers experiment was built to be 2 years at the minimum then play it by year afterwards.
    Thats why the Olu pick was perfect for the jets. Can play this year as a swing, but long term be your star left tackle for the next QB

  • @evancovello1932
    @evancovello1932 19 дней назад

    I wouldn’t have made that trade, but interesting concept. Fashanu is the real deal.
    Also-I love the aggressive approach to address the RB room. I wouldn’t have traded down and just selected Wright (I think he was there before we traded down and Dolphins got him), BUT good strategy.

    I would have taken that trade. This was not conducted as a win now draft so keep with the for the future theme and get another first rounder next year. If there was someone they liked later in the first round they could have easily treated up with the draft capital Atlanta gave them. If I was JD I and stayed at 10 I'd have taken Bowers. Just my opinion. If

  • @b0nkert0ns7
    @b0nkert0ns7 19 дней назад

    I'm always a fan of stockpiling future picks as long as the value is right. Dropping down that far though is right on the edge of not being worth it. Hindsight if you know that Johnny Newton will be there when you drop down to RD2, it makes sense. If you don't know he'll be there though, you're probably dropping down and taking Corley at 35 or another slight trade down. Overall I'm happy with how it turned out. You got Olu which is your insurance this year and long-term LT next year. Had we made this deal, I'm guessing that one of our two 1sts next year would have to be used on a LT anyway, so it's kind of a pointless move IMO....even more so when you realize Atlanta should be picking in the 20-32 range next year.
    I think it worked out for the best. Get that LT spot settled for the long term. Having extra future 1sts are nice but not really worth it IMO if you're trying to win now.

    A 2025 1st round pick doesn't help us this year. When you've seen the carnage that has happened to our OLD, we MUST have OL Insurance. Like JD said, that could derail what is a Super Bowl team

  • @kevinc8555

    Prob would of passed as well. Now if Fashanu is becton 2.0 it won’t age well tho

    • @user-gz9dv9oh9o
      @user-gz9dv9oh9o 19 дней назад

      Unlikely Fashanu will be becton 2.0 because Fashanu is lankier and far more mobile than becton. Fashanu is built for today’s NFL, which is a speed league. You will be able to put fashanu on an island at left tackle and he will be able to handle the outside speed rushers alone, which is a rare skill. Becton was the complete opposite, as he was a very heavy, lumbering player who was built for the nfl from 25 years ago. Becton probably was better suited to play guard, not tackle. Also, becton injured his knee and was never the same as it never fully recovered. Becton and fashanu play two completely different styles so there’s really no comparison between them.

  • @jakeklein9111

  • @user-gz9dv9oh9o
    @user-gz9dv9oh9o 19 дней назад

    I wouldn’t have done that deal in a million years. Fashanu is extremely mobile and will be able to handle the outside speed rushers at left tackle by himself. Does the person who made this video have any idea how difficult it is to find someone who can do that? Young players with that skill set are almost impossible to find, other than at the top of the draft. Left tackle is only the second most important position on the field. Also, Rodgers’ expiration date is fast approaching. I would have taken Fashanu over Rome odunze straight up, if both were still on the board. The sexy pick isn’t always the intelligent choice.

    Trading the 2025 1st rounder would have been GM malpractice. Offering the Chiefs 2 2nd rounders for Tyreek Hill would have been GM malpractice. I'm unsure if these were JD's calls or more about Woody pulling the strings. Clearly the insanely botched trade for Rodgers--whom the Packers desperately needed to unload for cap reasons--cost the Jets dearly. Waiting until the 1st day of the draft (Thursday) instead of panicking and dealing on Monday has Woody's dirty fingerprints all over it. He's willing to spend but unwilling to let his football people do their jobs. Awful owner! Worst owner? Perhaps.

Plus they'd have a 1st round pick next year. So if they wanted to move up that 1st round pick next year could be used to move up. Not doing the trade means they would be LESS likely to be able to move back in which is what happened of course. Terry and Raheem are self sabotaging the Falcons.
