Jets adopting a physical downhill, punishing running attack designed to close out games, protect a 40 year old QB, and win playoffs games in December & January in the Northeast.
Great point 👍👍👍
I think it’s a real possibility and a great point even if JD and company hadn’t drafted that way because of the rule change.
Jeez Is everyone blind. Last year the jets STUNK in short yardage, they couldn't punch the ball into the end zone, they were terrible converting third downs. THEY DRAFTED these guys to fix that problem. The double dip is simply two chances to fix that problem.
Yes but that was also a problem because of the oline injuries and teams knowing the Jets couldnt throw so they had to run
Definitely a change in philosophy from the type of players. How much rules, how much no more Rex Hogan, hot seat Saleh? But good points made by commenter and modified by u
The double dip at Runningback is easier to understand if you accept the fact that Izzy a fifth round draft choice, failed miserably as a pass blocker , as a pass catcher, and had poor yardage after contact. Protecting the QB is the priority.
Its not about the double dip its about the double dip in styles of player
@@TalkingJetsWithTigo Think of Davis as a Bilal Powell with Power
The double dip was curious.. But consider the Jets are making a major commitment to a downhill physical running attack, Davis has a TBD role on Special Teams, and provides a hedge on a 20 year old , who was injured last year and had difficulty picking up a new offense.
He definitely drafted a “type”.
Double dipping at any position generally yields good results. Rules may have had an impact here but I believe Jets are trying to capitalize on the LB's getting smaller ✈️
Thats another great point about the LBs
Thanks for the cred. Imo, tough YAC players are most likely to be hip tackled. That's why the sudden change to new scheme. I just hope Hackett doesn't revert back to neglecting the run game when we're down or in the Red zone.
Of course my guy it was your comment that opened my eyes!!!
I think they anticipate to play with a lead more often and investing in the run game is their way to run the clock and keep the lead while also protecting the QB problem is if your behind by 2 or more scores you cant afford to run the ball
Interesting
