Pen, pen, it’s a Penix. The Pen is pronounced like pen 🖊️
Problem with drafting Penix, besides the $100 or $180 million contract with Cousins, is they are planning, hoping he is the future QB in 2-4 years from now. Instead of drafting, signing players now to help Cousins get to the playoffs and win in the playoffs. Maybe 4-6-8 years from now Penix will lead them to the Super Bowl. But they are guaranteeing not to even compete for a Super Bowl until at least then.
Exactly my point it’s not a terrible decision it’s just not a right now decision and therefore is very questionable to plan for years from now when he’s already a more injury prone player yet they undoubtedly told Kirk cousins that their looking for a Super Bowl now
This take is always so stupid, just.. no.
They are guaranteeing to not even compete for a Super Bowl because they didn't draft Dallas Turner or Latu. First off, an edge rusher usually takes a couple seasons anyway to hit decent production levels and that's when Pennix will likely see the field. One player is not the difference between making the play offs much less the Super Bowl, with the exception of the QB position.
Are people forgetting all the draft capital the Niners gave up to draft Trey Lance while still paying Jimmy only for neither to be on the team 2 seasons later and them making the Super Bowl. They also made the NFC championship game the season Trey was supposed to start and was injured all year. I know the Niners were a more complete team in that moment than the Falcons but my point isn't even just the Lance pick, they gave up a ton of draft capital and still made the Super Bowl. The point is, to say one pick is going to decide the Falcon's future is asinine. The only position that can do that is QB, which is why they made it.
For me it's just the timing of Kirk signing the contract and not even playing yet combined with Pennix's age that makes the pick more questionable but Pennix is going to be a stud and learning from Kirk is only going to help him hit the ground running in a few years.
taylor threw 3 int, ridder cam in the game and got us game winning touchdown then defense blew it.
sorry to tell you this but ridder is better than taylor. we traded him bc of the relationship with drake london and pitts. kirk and ridder on same team would cause team leader problems. they knew ridder was better than taylor
Ridder blows taylor just hit or miss I’d much rather have Taylor
Ridder was the 🚮
Taylor over shidder all day
@@LuvZander taylor cant even throw a spiral lol trash
This could be an AI. They always mess up names.
I’m human, I just struggle with certain names particularly Allgeier.
@@footballtimes22 his name is hard. But that’s what the AI masters want us to think
@@footballtimes22 I’m just trolling I subbed to you today loved the video
It's not pronounced Peenix. He was injured in Indiana, hence smaller numbers. Low effort video.
Small numbers is small numbers regardless, he played 3 games in 2018, 7 in 2019, 6 in 2020, and 5 in 2021. There is plenty of time during that span to have put up better numbers than he did especially in 2019 when he threw for 10 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
I didn’t want to just dig into how bad he was in Indiana, because he made a 180 after being in Washington. On top of that it was at Indiana who doesn’t have high expectations to begin with. The team did show a significant bump in wins during the 2019 and 2020 seasons when he played more games though.
So I didn’t wanna focus on the years when talking about his what could have been production at Indiana it is all speculation.
@@footballtimes22 "Penix put together two solid seasons at Indiana in 2019 and 2020. He threw for 3,039 yards and 24 touchdowns with just eight interceptions in that two-year span. But both years were cut short because of injury.
After appearing in just five games for the Hoosiers in 2021, Penix transferred to Washington. He put up huge numbers over the next two years.
In Seattle, Penix threw for 9,544 yards and 67 touchdowns with a 65.4% completion rate. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2023 and is now trying to take his game to the NFL.
It doesn’t make sense to expect someone to put in three games the total numbers a top player puts in 12 games.
The biggest problem with the Falcons is the weak ass coaching staff. Morris is an awful hire and Robinson and Lake are in way over their heads. We needed defense not a guy who will be pacing the sidelines for years. Once again it's going to be another long losing season.
Not much… wont be relevant any time soon.
I gave them a C- at Super Bowl contention grade in the video
