      I was very surprised to find this out in such a remote village in Northamptonshire. Like I say you never know what you will find when you visit a church. Please share it helps me a lot 😁

    Looks like cement pointing around the Alter walls. A kind of rough strap pointing. Probably the church had issues with damp and was advised to seal the walls with cement. Problem is the walls should be breathable. Sealing the walls can lead to other issues. Like increasing damp and mould growth. The cement looks like it’s cracking.
    Makes me wonder if the exterior walls are pointed with cement as well.
