- It's June! Time for an annual Giant Balloon June video. This time Gav challenges Dan to live in a balloon for a bit while a water proof lens is shoved inside. Balloon pops, 1000fps, job done.
To avoid being known as "the plum who drowned/suffocated inside a balloon", please don't try this at home unless you have a mate who can get you out.

A lot of comments giving us mad love for being “back in the back yard” as opposed to the RUclips original shows with higher production value. I think we’ll always be back yard boys at heart. We prefer shooting on our own but it is useful having a crew sometimes. For example, Dan couldn’t wear a mic for most of this video and we had no one to hold a boom. But it would have been useful. Instead I had to boost audio from the camera mic or my mic which means the background noise is constantly going up when he speaks which I don’t really like doing. There is certainly a middle ground in terms of production value that we should try and achieve. What is it that you dislike the most about the big RUclips original shows? I’d be curious to know. They are pretty useful for us to do occasionally because it gives us the funds to get better equipment for our regular videos. Let me know your thoughts. - Gav
EDIT - seems like people feel that the YTOs are more scripted even though none of the episodes have ever had a script. Maybe we need to do a better job and making it feel less scripted by being more comfortable?

The back yard gives a more authentic feel, its What most of us subbed for. I still like the originals videos aswell but they feel a bit unpersonal

There's an unmatched authenticity when you're watching two friends doing insanely silly things that end up with amazing results.
It's the authenticity in your dynamic with eachother that is so difficult to capture when the production value goes up, but I think we all love whatever you guys put up!!

I love the sudden realisation about the holes underneath that don't matter at 13:38. If you go frame by frame, you can see that when Dan starts to say "don't" he has normal expression, and 5 frames later his eyes are empty and his expression is just blank.

If you're going to dive down it's gonna get very hard to breathe due to the water pressure
You guys should half fill a balloon with water then use the leafblower to half fill it with air, so Dan can just sit in a pool inside the balloon.
Cappin one possible issue with that is that air coming out of a leaf blower is kind of unreliable for breathing. Carbon monoxide poisoning would be a risk
Free ride straight to hypoxia.

The Planet Slowmo videos were cool and i'm sure a great experience, but this two-guys-in-a-yard type of video will always be my favorite
Same. The energy and chemistry is too good to stage and over-produce. I'm fine with them having a crew and resources obviously, but it watches a bit like awkward tv instead of 2 friends joking around.
That was what got them popular, not the slow Mo but rather to mates joking about
And the fact that the video's weren't consistent
It made them more human, that's what I always liked anyway

These type of videos are what people are on youtube for. If they wanna see big producer type shows they head to Netflix or something.
I liked Planet Slow Mo a lot. Mostly because of the scientific explanations that came later and the chance to mess with some _really_ big equipment.
That said, the jankier backyard productions are my top pick.
