Rb I was also at that show.I was staying in Redwood Cty. out there frm Jersey for the Warfield shows. Very cool place the Catalyst, dosed that nght, from what I remember I wasn't the only one.Santa Cruz crowd very cool. I was hangin with an older hippie who had seen the Dead in the late 60s. Called himself Wind Dancer. I'll never forget those days. Grateful memories! I may know you RB.
I was at this performance at the capitol theater Passaic nj. Senior year of high school. This was the first satisfaction. The dead did it in Lakeland florida three weeks later
Thank You guys and ladies for taking the time and money to post this online. Imagine when you recorded this, that it would be on an International venue for all to view 40 years later ? And that Bobby Weir would be on tour with 3 bands in the year 2018 playing these songs, thank you because actually several of these songs are Jazz Midnights songs and won’t be played by DEAD and COMpany ! Who’s that on keys. ? OO it’s Brent ...ok... c mon, go to bed
Elizabeth Kempf I was at this show , a high school senior at the time. I snuck in a camera in a binoculars case and took a bunch of pictures, we were sitting pretty close !
Wow. An easy listening version of Easy To Slip. They're missing the raunch of Little Feat's original but it's still cool to hear Bobby playing some Feat.
I saw Feat play that at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC, in the early aughts. I patched out of the board (they let you do that back then) and later played that song on the radio, introducing it as "Little Feat's version of Bob Weir's cover of Little Feat's original".
@@theloniouszappa check out the Midnite's lineup with Cobham and Alphonso Johnson. There's some video of them on RUclips. Check out the Bahama Mama from '83, it's a blast!✌
This is the very next night after the last Dead show at Radio City. They must have been practicing at the Capitol Theater during the day. Not bad for first show ever. They only got better!
Not really the first show...their first show was in June...this was their first show on the east coast.. What a great week...5 shows at Radio City followed by this show

Badass supplication!!!! Easy to slip would have been even better if they would have turned Brett down a little. Nonetheless an amazing show wish I could have been there.
While one can't deny the drumming abilities of Cobham I must say his playing style simply doesn't quite gel here. He also seems to have not learned some of the songs properly.
I'm not really seeing it but did you consider Bob and Brent had just played three sets nightly for 26 out of the previous 37 days, and 8 out of the last 10? Warfield run/New Orleans gigs/Radio City and the big Halloween broadcast show, then drive over to New Jersey for this new endeavor.
Hi Bob Weir know you through the Bohemian Club Pink Onion Camp.1998 we saw the Grove Play together drinking and smoking. Wish you well. I'm watching you play on 11-01-80 .lncredible William Erickson
Big Iron....love it.
This is great the original Midnites!!! Thanks
Man there's some chops in this band.
The GREAT Bobby Cochran!!!
Great Big Iron. Those solos were amazing.
Saw this lineup at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz 9/18/80

Well, it starts off mellow, but they do a pretty cool jam at the end. Any band with Cobham in it can hit it hard and they do!
Bily Cochran and Billy Cobham. Anyone not familiar with Cobham should check out Mahavishnu Orchestra live around 72......and BRENT IS THE SHIT!!!!
Check out the George Duke band with cobham, alphonso Johnson, and john Schofield
It's Bobby Cochrane, Eddie's nephew believe it or not lol.
@@theloniouszappa check out the Midnite's lineup with Cobham and Alphonso Johnson. There's some video of them on RUclips. Check out the Bahama Mama from '83, it's a blast!✌
The only thing that SUX IS ALL THE COMMERCIALS! Music & performance absolutely immaculate!
Smokin' C.C. Rider!
BRENT!
RIP Tim Bogert
Bombs away was killer and continued to get better over the years
This is the very next night after the last Dead show at Radio City. They must have been practicing at the Capitol Theater during the day. Not bad for first show ever. They only got better!

Thanks I was listening to John Shear or however you spell his name.
Yeahhhhh Brent
kinda trippy that dead base lists BobbyW as lead guitar instaed of BobbyC. Maybe as lead slide guitar...?
Very cool. Love that "Bombs Away."

Do you have any idea where I can see the second set??
Brent was on fire!
Always
Is this date right? He went straight from Radio City to this the next day?
Yes the date is right ! I went to the 10.30.80 Radio City show and this one in Passaic.
Matt Kelly what a great night I was there and took photographs
Today is my first time hearing them, i like them, i also like the band zebra
Nice Easy to Slip
Wow, finish intros and bang, commercials! Screw that!
Love "Haze " by them
Wasn’t Alphonso Johnson the bass player?
Bigbadbob
Brent Mydland !
Badass supplication!!!! Easy to slip would have been even better if they would have turned Brett down a little. Nonetheless an amazing show wish I could have been there.
Yeah the Supplication rocks! The entire set is just cooking, wanna see the second half one day.
There’s Brent ,and Mr Bogart !
Who's playing bass, this was obviously before Alphonso Johnson?
Tim Bogert from Vanilla Fudge and Beck Bogert and Appice
While one can't deny the drumming abilities of Cobham I must say his playing style simply doesn't quite gel here. He also seems to have not learned some of the songs properly.
11/5/80, not 11/1.
its all very good but no orginal songs make it a bit of a letdown
Bombs Away and Salt Lake City are original Weir/Barlow from Heaven Help the Fool
music's fine, but bob has no interest in singing the song, it seems. he's got no energy whatsoever.
wangson hes showing more interest here then any Dead and Co. at least from what ive seen. For whatever thats worth.
Really? Check out the DC show, he seemed into LL Rain and BT Wind
What video are you watching? Bobby sounds fine to me...
