    I was there in London, when Queen came on the concert had been going for almost 7 hours on a hot day. The energy was waining, but when Queen did their set it seemed like the whole place lifted off the ground. It amazes me that 36 years later people spontaneously join in. That’s presence and power. Great reaction!

    72,0000 people at Wembley, another 100,000 in Philadelphia, and 1,2 billion watching on TV globally. The Olympics have 3 satellites...Live Aid had 13. I wasn't a Queen fan at all, but after that day..I was lol! The world for Africa!
    I remember it was very hot that day in Wembley Stadium July 13th 1985 but it was worth it, best day in my life! 👏👏🇳🇱

    And he did that performance against Doctor's orders, because he had a severe throat infection, but you never would have known the pain he was going through to deliver. The only glimpse of discomfort, is just before he hits that last note "World" in we are the champions. He paused for a couple deep breaths. It was a charity concert for the starving in Africa. Until Queen came on (who were not on the original play list, so the crowd he commanded were other bands fans) the concert was making very little money. Once Queen hit the stage the phones went crazy. Queens difference from others bands...they dont push out their performance onto the crowd, they instead invited the crowd "into" their performance, so they felt somehow they were part of the group.

    I was thrilled when I saw you were reacting to this!!! Yes, the sign was Africa. The concert was at Wembley Stadium in London and also simultaneously in Philadelphia USA. It was a 16 hour concert for the famine relief in Ethiopia. Each group had 17 minutes to do their best. Queen stole the show. There was no sound checks, fancy lights etc. just pure music. Several “big” names rather fell short. Their performance is still rated the best live rock and roll performance in history.
    Crazy Little Thing called Love was his tribute to Elvis. He actually wrote it in 10 minutes while in the bathtub!!!
    The audience wasn’t a “Queen” audience, however, Freddie had them in the palm of his hand immediately.
    BTW, he had a throat infection and his Doctor advised him NOT to perform that day- and he still sounded that good!!!

Many other bands played that day, and the tickets had sold out before it was known if Queen would be there, but Freddie had every single one of them in the palm of his hand. If only they could bottle that charisma, I’d buy some.

    This was a concert festival that was put together to raise money for famine relief in Africa.
    There were 2 stages, one in London and one in Philadelphia. The concert started in the morning on the London stage and then later on, would switch back and forth between the performances on each stage. EX: While Duran Duran was playing in London, Bon Jovi was getting set up in Philly and back and forth. All of the performers had an agreement, in principle, that they would only play for 25 minutes so as not to cut into other performers time and be able to get set up for the next act.
    Thats why the QUEEN songs are shortened versions of their tunes.
    *Phil Collins actually played both stages. He performed in London and then flew to Philly and played there.

    Live Aid was a charity event to raise money for the famine in Africa!! Artists in the industry donated their time to raise the money! Queen was added to the artist list later so many in the crowd weren’t sure Queen was even performing! They practiced to get their 20 min set perfect. Each artist was given the same amount of time & if they went over the time the power would be turned off! Queen took this performance very seriously like their life depended on it! They fit six songs into 20 min whereas other artists did only 2-3 songs! Queen’s performance blew everybody away & went down in rock history as the best single live performance!! Amazing!! The Freddie Mercury planet shined brighter than the sun that day! Has anyone asked Brian to build that Time Machine yet? 😍

    Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person!
    NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience.
    NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?).
    NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him.
    SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW:
    nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves!
    LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)!
    I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports!
    (When he is waving his arm it is to tell the cameramen which way he is going bc he’s moving around so much. And, “We Will Rock You”, is actually a Prelude to “We Are The Champions”. It is actually all 1 Song!)
    LEAD GUITARIST: Brian May’s family couldn’t afford a Guitar so he & his Dad made it from an old Cabinet. Because they were making it there are a lot of extra features that he wanted. It is truly a “one of a kind”!

    Live Aid was a duel-venue concert held both at Wembley Stadium, London & JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, and broadcast worldwide to 1.5 Billion people to raise money to aid the famine in Ethiopia (1983- 1985). There were over 65 performers that were each given 20 minutes on stage to entertain and raise money. Queen's performance stole the concert!! Only Freddie Mercury could get 1.5 Billion people to respond to his "Ay-Oh".

  • @pennyanderson4330

    Your comments on Elvis are not quite accurate. You really should do some research. Elvis was an original and what he started paves the way for people like Freddie. Elvis didn’t “steal” from others. It is true that the didn’t write his own material but he paid for the use. He made a lot of money for a lot of people. He was extremely generous. Freddie was a superstar and so talented. You don’t need to diss others accomplishments to appreciate the wonder of Queen. And it is Queen-the group- not just Freddie who made and wrote the music you are enjoying. Queen as a group recognized that they were all responsible and they decided that songs would be credited to all of them.I think you should research on Elvis before you make these types of statements

    • @MarkColeman121587
      @MarkColeman121587  3 года назад

      He did steal. Hound Dog was not his song. It was Big Momma Thornton song. I don’t need to research. That’s a fact. He stole it

    • @pennyanderson4330
      @pennyanderson4330 3 года назад

      @@MarkColeman121587 Actually Big Mama Thornton did not write Hound Dog. Songwriting credit goes to Jerry Leiber and Michael Stoller. And before Elvis even got a chance to record it, ten other covers had already been recorded, including a cover by The Quarrymen who were later known as the Beatles. There were numerous covers and it was blatantly ripped off twice. The result was eerily similar songs that stole the basic song structure and melody. Accusing Elvis of song theft is not really fair considering what the music business was back in the 50s. There wasn't a one-song/one-artist relationship. Many musical artists performed different renditions/covers of the same song that was written by someone else. In fact, in the early 1950s, many renditions of the same song topped the charts at the same time. Elvis never claimed to write these songs. His manager-colonel Tom Parker ran Elvis’s life in many ways and abused that power. He actually kept Elvis from ever performing outside the US because he was in the states illegally and no one knew it.
      This is from the writers themselves.
