One of my favorite cars of all time. I remember being on a field trip to Boston in the 80’s and a black one roared past the school bus on the highway - what a thrill - the look and sound is like nothing else
Great video showing off quirks and features and very nice example of 928 you have, in great shape The UK cars come with dual rear fog lights, does look better symetrical I think The suroof although small is a godsend when AC not working as lets some hot air out little hole, with it fully open the air diverter is up and makes a hell of a racket diverting air, but 1/2 open is just nice as flap is down Interesting having antenna in front windscreen, my '82 4.5lt has electric antenna on rear 1/4 panel and another behind sunroof Headlight adjuster is hydraulic, when you turn the knob it creates pressure (or releases it) and this pushes lights forward and back, some super thin (from memory) oil is used, mine must have been replaced as super new bright white hoses lead away from it As mentioned below, parking brake adjust so it comes on sooner and then won't go up as far Funny quirk with AC in glovebox, can't wait to install new AC compressor and celebrate with a cold bottle of bubbly from it Anyway keep these great video's coming
Love your video. I have an 88 S4 and had no clue about some of the quirks. BTW... i think Acura engineers copied the 928 interior for their NSX because its identical to the 928. Enjoy
The adjustable headlights were disabled when the car was federalized. They cut the tube close to the headlights on mine. I believe you can buy a new assembly from Roger at 928srus. I vaguely remember reading about a repair procedure as well.
Agree with you on the smell, mine has that leather like smell also, mine has the full leather option; even the interior roof liner, sunroof liked and pillars are leather. The smell is different than my BMW’s, which are leather also.
You have to adjust the parking brake so the handle doesn't go higher than the seat. Also you can adjust the power seats using an Allen wrench in case they get stuck. 928s with sunroofs don't have the vanity mirrors. The horn is the same on Ferraris. I'm an owner of the 1986 US version with a manual transmission since 1999.
BTW I have converted all the lights to LEDs ( for under $100) except the rear because the light monitor system gets confused and causes a dash light warning. Depending on Euro headlights. Some are smaller so it could cost more to replace.
I’ve thought about that, but I kinda like the old school incandescent look. I know they make LED’s in a warmer hue, but I don’t think it’s worth it in my case. I know they draw less current, but I have a high output alternator that seems to run all my peripherals (subwoofer, preamp, AC, etc.) pretty well. If you watch my latest video, you can see my voltage is running close to 14 Volts on the dash. Thanks for your comments btw, I appreciate it.
I noticed at 0:55 the holes of the side guard rails. Just wondering, are you putting them back on the car or do you leave the rails off and close the holes? Nice video by the way 👍🏻
@@OCDHAUS I understand. I would like to remove my side guards and both spoilers (1983 Euro S) as well. However, due all these costs thinking of swapping mine for the older (cleaner) model 928 instead. I’m ok with less horsepower, as in my country it is hard to drive fast anyway 😁
That’s too bad about not being able to drive fast without getting caught. There’s so much other crime going in California that speeding seems to be the least of law enforcement’s worries. I’ve always like the integrated rear spoilers of our models, way better than what came next in my humble opinion. Although, a clean OB, no rub strips, passenger side mirror delete, no sunroof and pasha interior would be pretty awesome.
@@OCDHAUS yeah, mine just drops down with gravity. I thought they all did but apparently not. Mine's Australian delivered but doubt that's the difference in handbrake setup
What!? That’s way better. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong, but mine just stays up. I’ll try pushing down on it after I lift/set it next time I’m in the car.
Thanks for taking the time for showing the quirkiness of our beloved 928 ! I even learned something !! Cheers
You’re welcome!

Indeed. I never had that childhood love affair with this model per se, but I'm totally enamored with my now.

Very informative
About to take delivery of my 1986 one owner 928 - only 65,000km ! From new
very good find my friend.
Thanks for another 928 video, love the car! As far as I know, the version with the 2 rear fog lights was only made for Great Britain.
You’re welcome “oh captain my captain.” Now that you mention it, that sounds familiar.
Very interesting video. Many thanks!!!!
You’re very welcome.
Really enjoyed your video. Very useful.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks. Yeah, it wouldn’t be the first time a Japanese automaker copied…

Oh, interesting. I’ll have to check mine out and see if they’re cut. I really want every quirky thing to work on my car.

I had no idea about the parking brake, that makes sense.

My theory is that the scent may be coming in part from the jute backing of the carpets.
I’ll have to get some of that jute and rub it in my body, you know, for the ladies…
@@OCDHAUS True, they do go mad for the smell of deteriorating carpet backing.
Considering their inconsistent, nonsensical, irrational, and illogical behavior, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Very observant. Yes, my plan is to get those filled and repaint the whole exterior. However, to do it right, it’s expensive, so it’ll be a while.

Handbrake should go back down
Is that how yours is? I’m familiar with what you’re referring to, but mine’s not like that. I did adjust it lower, as suggested by another commenter.
