One thing many people do not realize about Frank Sinatra, was that he was a perfectionist. He didn't come by that amazing breath control, impeccable phrasing and enunciations of every word just by accident, he WORKED at it all the time, so that when he went into the studio to record, he often didn't need more than one take, was how he became known as "one-take Frank" which also extended into his acting scenes. And those who worked with him from other singers, to orchestras, to film crews, KNEW that he demanded perfection out of they also, so they worked hard too, to be their best. And YOU know, see and still hear the effects of that amazing talent! He is still popular into this century and that may well extend into the next century as well. Musical fads come and go, and so do styles of singing, but the love of the old standards will persist, and techniques used in them, will always remain. Why? Because it's simply the best music!
Here's a good idea. Don't talk over Frank......ever.
You got it
Right? And then they mentioned Tom Brokaw and it went even further down the tubes
The greatest cultural icon in music in the last century, and more. I miss you, Frank.
Actually Elvis Presley was a better singer and performer and Liberace a better piano player , showman 🎉🎉
There are CDs of Frank's last performance on eBay. I don't know the quality or if they are BL. Too bad somebody who was there didn't have the presence of mind to video his final performance. From what I hear, people were really amazed by the quality & clarity of his singing. He had previously been having problems linked to his anti-depressant & his memory. Mr. S's final performance was truly historic. He ended the mini concert by saying the opening line from The Best is Yet to Come.
it does exist video footage
@@andreab.4564 Thanks. I wish whoever has it would share it or release it for the public to see or buy. I have a great live recording & I've seen pics but no video... yet. but thank you.
Biff o'hara in meantime you could join the "Frank Sinatra: you will be my music" group un Facebook to see the performance 👍🏻
Loved listening to this o'man, smooth as silk
I was in Vegas when All of the Hotels on the Strip turned out the lights for him. they didn't do that for Tupac.
Ofc they didn't. Rap was looked at very differently back then and wasn't a legend yet but Frank was and had more years and the business too. They're incomparable.
one of or the last performance they cut him off during the end of the song..
that REALLY pissed me off. that the hollywood establishment would do that to a world renowned performer in front of fans at the show but MILLIONS on TV.
that really fucking pissed me off.
This man was a legend.
Franks tombstone needs to be better with a granite memory bench near his grave and granite flower holders ?
Went to the Sinatra, Basie, and Fitzgerald concert at Uris Theater. After there were probably 1000 people waiting to see Sinatra. My girlfriend and I went to the corner to see a limo pull up and a guy in a trench and hat ran into it. I said to my girlfriend that this is a chance of a lifetime. Went to the car, knocked on the window, it rolled down and there was Mr. S. I said you are the greatest! He tapped my cheek and said, " Thanks kid". Window went up and the car sped off. True story.
John Polkowski undoubtedly that happened
Click-bait -- what is shown isn't even the correct "last performance!"
Might have been better to actually hear the guy singing, instead of the rabbiting by the news anchor!
What a talent, what a legasy of music he left us.
Sinatra can be described by only one word: icon
How about 'bully'?
will you be attending the 'romp on sinead' festival this year? this is where we all put our frank masks on and each of us takes a turn smacking sinead o'connor. frank started the event when he was still alive and sinead still loves to be involved due to her ongoing love for frank.
Cool.
What's up, doc?
whats that make you?
um, Play this when that newscaster passes on instead. It was probably his greatest moment :P
I love him!! Hi was fantastic! Hi`s past don`t undersding mi!!
No, he is a legend.
GODDAMNIT
I never was a big Sinatra fan but I can understand the love. He was the Elvis and the Beatles of his time. and I appreciate that. He just seemed to speak his songs and not really sing them like Jerry Vale, who I thought had a fantastic voice.
You must listen to Sinatra in the 40s decade and in the 50s and come back to tell me that he only speaked his songs
Saying "he just seemed to speak his songs" only proves that you don't listen with both ears! Sinatra's range, breath control, phrasing and ability to hold notes is legendary! Few can compare on any one of those abilities, much less all of them!
true.
he had ties with the notorious bugsy bunny...
Frank was out of it in this last ''performance'' but still way ahead of what Biden is at this very moment. But Frank could only maybe screw up the words to a song. Biden, well......
Can't get away from people talking about their political bullshit ever. Not even on a video about Frank Sinatra that doesn't have anything to do with politics.
@@thomasnc Frank Sinatra was a Republican!!!
@@jonnybergens591 This comment has nothing to do with Frank Sinatra's political views. This comment brings up Biden when this video has absolutely nothing to do with him. It annoys me that people have to bring politics into everything.
Lol if Joe Biden is the first thing that comes to your mind watching this, you need to reassess your priorities
Jery Vale blows him away.He got in with the mob Jerry fif it himself.
Wrong!
and today is Tupac's 43rd b.day. Saw Frank in 1991, he should have quit with dignity.
"He should have quit with dignity". What is this BS??? At that time Sinatra still had more class as a performer than most people half his age.
filmidioten He didn't need the money. It's a case of finishing well, knowing when to get out. It applies to leaders of nations, heads of business and others. Go out when you're on top, reputation intact, not ailing, ill and a mere shadow of your former self. I say that as a devoted Sinatra fan in Australia.
Jack Stubbington When did Carey Grant make his last film? About 1966? Get out while you're on top, or you risk your legacy. Streisand kept herself scarce, kept them wanting live shows, seldom gave any, although she gave one here in Melbourne in 2000.
Jack Stubbington Barbara loved jewelry and the old man couldn't just stay in Palm Springs patting puppies and drinking Jack all day.
He did -- LOTS of dignity!
Sinatra was a very very nasty man.
ONLY to those who were nasty to him, and that wasn't often.
Just cause you’re not successful and couldn’t be like Sinatra doesn’t mean he was nasty but I’m guessing that you’re the nasty one here my friend
@@-Dark_ nawww frank was a pos to everyone who didnt agree with him
Sinatra was a very very good singer...
