Great to see just the core of the Rat Pack. Sammya's impressions were the center piece of the entire show. And this was the golden age of impressions; most stand-up comics did impressions.
@soapbxprod Thanks! The sharpness is astonishing, I've never seen film of Martin and Lewis live or the Rat Pack (except for the St. Louis show, of course) with such crystalline clarity. I noticed that during a Martin and Lewis appearance, the camera operator switched lenses for a close-up of Lewis singing.
+Bedeborah Thanks for tuning in! Lots more clips on our channel- we're also selling a 3 DVD set of all the 1960 and 62 Summit shows, including all the songs that we cannot upload to RUclips (due to copyright)...
Wish I was there that night. I was born in the wrong time. Wish the boys were still around in their prime. Oh wait, they would be considered, racists, woman haters and looked down on because they smoked. Forget it, just move me back to 1960.
Oh!! I didn't know who he was trying to do! Thanks for clearing that up for me. And I agree it was great when he began the Barrymore bit and Dean fell off the stool! Hysterical!!
Thanks for watching- you might enjoy this silent footage of Elvis and Liberace at the Riviera in November 1956: ruclips.net/video/nPxNnV_VMjw/видео.html
@soapbxprod I've never seen a similar close-up in any of the Vegas Rat Pack footage, perhaps because there so many of them moving around so much that the camera operator just threw up his hands and left the wide-angle lens in all the time. I'm not complaining, though. Lewis said he sat in the back and watched one of their shows once with Martin not realizing it and concluded that Martin's experience with club comedy drove their shows; Sinatra had basically only sang in live appearances.
90% of the Rat Pack show is made up of the material that Martin & Lewis brought to the stage, especially Lewis. And Sammy ALWAYS played Jerry. As if he were there with them.
***** TRUE THAT! I hate that things these years are no where near as HILLARIOUS or ROFLMAO funny as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. & Joey Bishop aka the Rat Pack
Liz Blue And they did it in tuxes- or Sy Devore suits! :) If you look on my channel page, you'll find lots more clips for Frank and the Boys from the '60 and '62 Summits, as well as a lot of other very rare clips of Sammy, Martin and Lewis, and our exclusive interviews with many legends of the era...
As a suggestion, for the upcoming theatrical film biography of Sinatra in production and to be directed by Martin Scorsese, what about Robert Downey Jr. to play Sinatra? He has the acting chops, as evidenced by his Academy nominated portrayal of Chaplin, he has a similar physical stature and he is better casting than Leonardo DiCaprio.
The purity of the act. That useless Joey Bishop and the absolute nothingness of Peter Lawford aren't there to suck up the core act's oxygen. But the impression thing is just tedious and none of them are any good. Even Samya's and he was supposed to be so great at it.
Dean Martin...great singer!!! Eternal...the best singer!!!

Dean Martin always looked like he was having the best times. Even his Roast Show he would laugh his head off... He was the best....

Wondrous! Very clear film. Magnificent!

At about 2:25, Dean's expression makes him look kind of creepy lol! LOVE these guys! Wish I could have been alive when they were in their heyday!
Trinity4h Maybe he was thinking of when Jerry did the same impression of Brando on one of their CCH shows years before....
I wonder if this was the first ever performance of Sam's Song? They certainly don't look too familiar with the material lol!
Tre fuoriclasse irripetibili
Grazie! :)
I would certaily pay no matter how much to see some 3 silly guys fooling around aimlessly
