Box office was over $400 million--just remember this film was a giant success in terms of tickets sold, but it cost a lot to make. That is the reason some may not see it as a sequel success, but it definitely sold tickets. In a year where a whole lot of blockbusters were on schedule, this came out in middle of winter. All considered, it did well. At this point, I would like a sequel, but also, or otherwise, a streaming series.

I just watched it. I don't think I have ever cried so much in a movie before. It's has all my favorite genres mixed together: action, post-apocalyptic, drama and love taken place in a beautiful setting with great visual effects. This has just became my favorite movie ever. Maybe a movie one day might change my mind, but this movie will always stick to my mind and I will never forget about it. I wished there was were sequels to this. I have absolutely no regret watching this; in fact it made me feel like a better person.

idk anything about the critics. It has 7.3 in imdb from 2.9k people. For a movie (because almost every tv show has 7+ rating for some reasons -.-) it's great. I never disliked a single movie with 7+ rating from IMDB so far. Besides, it's one of those movies which you watch the trailer and you just know it will be good :)

About the plot... well, basically, Alita is the plot. Everything is around her and for her. It's about her mental and physical growth. Love it or not, the movie achieved its goal.

This film is a breath of fresh air. Ridiculous critics question the plot when they love cut and paste templated and convoluted Marvel films. Finally an original, fun fantasy sci-fi film. Best since Avatar, Matrix. Classic.

I have no idea nor heard before ALITA , not a fan of manga. But after walked out from the cinema, I couldn't describe my feelings & love the movie instantly. I don't know why the critics gave bad rating. This is easily one of the best movie and great movie like this doesn't come often.This movie deserves more!!! If you haven't watch or undecided to watch it or not. JUST GO & WATCH!! You won't regret, give yourself a chance, it is worth it. Do not let the critics "decide" which movie is good for you to watch. It's not that this movie isn't better than all the other Hollywood movies around it. It is. It is so much better! But it has so much untaped potential... Critics are negative because they had seen movies, series, novels that can live up to their potential, but risking waters outside of Hollywood conventions. Alita dares to take a step away from Hollywood foundations, but ultimately does not risk to cross certain thresholds and because of that, doesn't reach the emotional hights it could have. If you enjoyed Alita I recommend watching Psycho-Pass. It's a utopian / post-cyberpunk anime series. It starts out conventionally, using well known tropes and beautiful visuals, but immediately shows a darker side. It let's you catch your breath in the first couple of episodes, slowly building up the world and running several thought experiments with you, building up beautiful connections between you and the characters. After half of the first season all heall breaks lose and close to nothing that follows is bound by Hollywood connections. It's not too far, but definitely not a story that you could ever see in mainstream western cinema. Stories like that don't just engage you emotionally on a much deeper level, they make you think, and the ideas introduced in the fiction stay with you in the real world. They make you learn and grow. But they also require much more effort on the viewers part, and thus, are not inviting for such diverse demographic groups and tend to go unnoticed for the wider audiences. Alita is lovable, enjoyable, it is beautiful, and not what you'd expect from a western scifi (because, duh, it is Japanese scifi), but ultimately it's a light movie that is designed to excite and entertain you, nothing more and nothing less.

I watched Avengers: Infinity War twice in the cinema. But Alita Battle Angel is the first film that I watched 3 times on the big screen. It is that great.

A shout-out to the film makers. Not only in this an incredibly well done movie, it's also a fantastic film that works by itself. This film has it all. Kickass action, next level CGI, a great set of characters, heart and depth. I've watched it 5 times by now and each time I notice more and more details that make this movie so rich and Alita such an awesome, rounded and lovable character. And the fight scenes just don't get old. It's extremely rewatchable not just for moments when the **** starts hitting the fan, but I also love the slower, more character focused moments. I'll keep watching it in the cinema for as long as I still have the chance to, and I can't wait to pick up the bluray whenever it comes out. And we NEED a sequel!!!
To all those who lament that it may not have made enough to satisfy requirements for a sequel, do not forget that despite starting in middle of February, this film brought in over $400 million at the box office. In a year full of big budget films, also. Only because the budget for this film was relatively high was a sequel considered uncertain. By box office, this film has been a major success. Do not let the studios forget that! Sequel is justified, and a streaming series is as well!

A regular main character is the type that overcome challenges while being bound by the same rules everyone is. A Mary sue character is a character the does not fellow the rules of the world and instead bend it their liking. For example, when characters in a show have to go through a specific training to unlock a certain power, a Mary sue character we'll unlock that certain power without going through the training every other character had to go through just because "she/he must" simply putting it: it's a really thick plot armor
As a Chinese viewer, I don't understand why "Alita" is so popular in China, but so bad in America!In China, there are a lot of audiences who like this movie and this character very much. Some of them have even seen it more than 30 times in the cinema, and I have seen it three times (just to see Alita). The special effects make Alita come to life. I've been making 3d graphics for almost 2 years now. If anything, it's let me better understand the amount of work that goes into cgi. The character graphics team made miracles here. This is a step above Tarkin in Rogue One, and the artists deserve all the credit they can get. Great job guys!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO OUT AND SUPPORT THIS FILM!!! After watching it, I am just going everywhere on you-tube and spreading the word to give this movie the recognition it most truly it deserves!!! I may be 20 yo but that doesn't mean i know nothing about movies. I have seen almost every movie ever made (including the old timer ones). This film gives romance, action, adventure, mystery, everything!! So I am begging everyone to spread the word to go and support this film! The fight scene flashback on the moon was so freaking epic! This movie has some much more depth than meets the eye because it's based on a manga. There's so much potential for sequels and prequels in the future.

Some things change, but the main story is there, needs lots of sequels for it to be complete. It's not as dark as it should be, but Alita, even with those eyes, gets you into the story and when you get out you only want to see more. Saw it this sunday, gonna go watch it again on wednesday.
This movie is simply the best I've ever seen in my whole life and it would be a disaster if no sequel was planned. I've seen it 7 times at theaters and i intend to buy blu-ray at its release. It's the contrast between gentleness and phenomenal violence of which she's capable that makes the character so fascinating and endearing.

In February of 2019 (which is when this movie was released) I was at the movie theatre's I remember passing the movie poster and thinking without having any knowledge of the movie or manga "This looks like the most boring and dumb movie ever" fast forward to 2021 where I still knew absolutely nothing about this movie because it still is CRIMINALLY underrated I saw the movie when it came out on netflix and decided to give it a shot. I have watched a lot of films in my lifetime, and I have to say that I was not at the edge of my seat and into a movie more than I was than Alita : Battle angel. I remember when the movie ended I couldn't believe it. I was so into the movie and everything about it that I completely lost track of time. I need a sequel this movie was absolutely incredible.

This movie will go down as an absolute classic.
It's the first actually good anime/manga cinematic adaptation. So, definitely deserves a place in memory for that alone.

It's not that this movie isn't better than all the other Hollywood movies around it. It is. It is so much better! But it has so much untaped potential... Critics are negative because they had seen movies, series, novels that can live up to their potential, but risking waters outside of Hollywood conventions. Alita dares to take a step away from Hollywood foundations, but ultimately does not risk to cross certain thresholds and because of that, doesn't reach the emotional hights it could have.
If you enjoyed Alita I recommend watching Psycho-Pass. It's a utopian / post-cyberpunk anime series. It starts out conventionally, using well known tropes and beautiful visuals, but immediately shows a darker side. It let's you catch your breath in the first couple of episodes, slowly building up the world and running several thought experiments with you, building up beautiful connections between you and the characters. After half of the first season all heall breaks lose and close to nothing that follows is bound by Hollywood connections. It's not too far, but definitely not a story that you could ever see in mainstream western cinema. Stories like that don't just engage you emotionally on a much deeper level, they make you think, and the ideas introduced in the fiction stay with you in the real world. They make you learn and grow. But they also require much more effort on the viewers part, and thus, are not inviting for such diverse demographic groups and tend to go unnoticed for the wider audiences.
Alita is lovable, enjoyable, it is beautiful, and not what you'd expect from a western scifi (because, duh, it is Japanese scifi), but ultimately it's a light movie that is designed to excite and entertain you, nothing more and nothing less.
Why did I took so long to watch this movie!!? Is freaking great.

I watched Avengers: Infinity War twice in the cinema. But Alita Battle Angel is the first film that I watched 3 times on the big screen. It is that great.
I watched Alita once, it made me want to watch Infinity Wars 10 times just to forget how bad this movie was.

A shout-out to the film makers. Not only in this an incredibly well done movie, it's also a fantastic film that works by itself. This film has it all. Kickass action, next level CGI, a great set of characters, heart and depth. I've watched it 5 times by now and each time I notice more and more details that make this movie so rich and Alita such an awesome, rounded and lovable character. And the fight scenes just don't get old. It's extremely rewatchable not just for moments when the **** starts hitting the fan, but I also love the slower, more character focused moments.
I'll keep watching it in the cinema for as long as I still have the chance to, and I can't wait to pick up the bluray whenever it comes out.
And we NEED a sequel!!!

A regular main character is the type that overcome challenges while being bound by the same rules everyone is. A Mary sue character is a character the does not fellow the rules of the world and instead bend it their liking. For example, when characters in a show have to go through a specific training to unlock a certain power, a Mary sue character we'll unlock that certain power without going through the training every other character had to go through just because "she/he must"

As a Chinese viewer, I don't understand why "Alita" is so popular in China, but so bad in America!In China, there are a lot of audiences who like this movie and this character very much. I've been making 3d graphics for almost 2 years now. If anything, it's let me better understand the amount of work that goes into cgi. The character graphics team made miracles here. This is a step above Tarkin in Rogue One, and the artists deserve all the credit they can get. Great job guys!

Saw Alita: Battle Angel the first time, was so impressed and couldn’t stop talking about it. Saw it a second time tonight and WOW!!! It was even better!! The fight scene flashback on the moon was so freaking epic! This movie has some much more depth than meets the eye because it's based on a manga. There's so much potential for sequels and prequels in the future.

@@Gum.K I did, years ago, but loved it. So i didn't expect too much since i didn't remember all details. It's a movie, they can't fit all of the books in 2 hours. Some things change, but the main story is there, needs lots of sequels for it to be complete. It's not as dark as it should be, but Alita, even with those eyes, gets you into the story and when you get out you only want to see more.
Saw it this sunday, gonna go watch it again on wednesday.

In February of 2019 (which is when this movie was released) I was at the movie theatre's I remember passing the movie poster and thinking without having any knowledge of the movie or manga "This looks like the most boring and dumb movie ever" fast forward to 2021 where I still knew absolutely nothing about this movie because it still is CRIMINALLY underrated I saw the movie when it came out on netflix and decided to give it a shot. I have watched a lot of films in my lifetime, and I have to say that I was not at the edge of my seat and into a movie more than I was than Alita : Battle angel. I remember when the movie ended I couldn't believe it. I was so into the movie and everything about it that I completely lost track of time. I need a sequel this movie was absolutely incredible.

Alita Battle Angel 2 is already confirmed to be in the work for James Cameroon, so it is all now up to the outcome of the box office to determine whether or not Robert Rodriguez will return as the producer for the sequel.

Viomaliha Alita: Battle Angel.... All I gotta say is “what a movie”. The greatest Decision I ever made in my 20 years of living on planet Earth. I can give hundreds of reasons to see this masterpiece, but the main one is EVERYTHING about this movie is perfect! Since Brie Larson opened her mouth, I won’t be seeing captain marvel, but instead seeing Alita again! When captain flatass comes out March 8. Alita touched my heart deep within and is now my favorite movie of all time. Please boycott captain LoudMouth and GO SUPPORT ALITA!!!
There are many comments talking about her eyes already. Idk what to talk about.
The thing is, in original manga, almost every girl has this kind of eyes. It's just Yukito Kishiro's style. Singling Alita out and giving only her anime eyes just means that whoever read the manga couldn't even get this one simple thing right.
And if they can't get this one single thing right, what does it mean for the rest of the movie?
