Great comment! But, Rafa at his best the last few years has been 70-80% of his prime. His foot speed and venom on his forehand has drastically reduced. Unfortunately we will never get to see prime Rafa vs. prime Alcaraz.

Of course there is much talk of Carlos being the next best thing and this may be justified but we don't know how things will pan out. People will expect him to win everything but of course, he won't. He has a good team and they should steer him as he continues to develop. He is a long way from his best years but this is true for several other players on the tour. We can be happy there are so many great young players all fighting for titles. Better still, Novak, Rafa and Roger are still around to test them...
Stunning! We thought we saw it all with the big 3 and now in comes this talent who may be just as good, if not better. A long long way to go in terms of records but Carlos is surely on the right trajectory.
i dont think he is near roger or rafa in terms of talent, counter punching is not talent! and he is great on clay, let him make that journey like rafa where he dominated all surfaces
Absolutely unbelievable level of tennis here. So happy for Alcaraz, an absolute MONSTER of a player at 19 years of age! He's also got a good head on his shoulders, something that can't be said for a fair few other players, *cough* Zverev, Kyrgios *cough*
He’s got an awesome forehand, a beautiful drop shot and the intelligence to mix power and placement to keep opponents on their heels. He’s also starting to show mental toughness to win the crucial points against the best. His only weakness is his susceptibility to injury when he’s supposed to be at his physical peak. That’s obviously something he can work to rectify with his trainers
@@aguude1711 I think he ment his playstyle making him susceptible to injury, and possibility of doing career affecting damage at a young age (I mean the kid is already faster and bigger hitting than Nadal, Djokovic were at their primes, and he hasn't even reached his)
Djokovic reaction when he won the first set is everything you need to know about Alcaraz. These guys play mental games all the time so for Djokovic to display such relief after winning the first set says it all. Alcaraz is nothing to play with.
Djokovic reaction after winning the first set sounded a bit overreacted to me. He also celebrated while looking at Carlos, which I have never seen it before while doing such a huge celebration. I'm sure he was just trying to intimidate him. Didn't work lol.
Djokovic reaction doesnt have anything with Carlos. It has with audience. In first set Novak was better player, after losing first set he composed and outplayed Alcaraz. But audience was not showing any respect, as usally.

@@zencosuzuki8496 I agree ,he just keep improving over the last few months ,I have to say when he won the first 2 titles I thought it was a fluke ,since the players he beat wasn’t that impressive .But after the first round lost against Korda in Montecarlo,he just unlocked another level ,and he is beating the tour right now. Although I can still see some flaws in his game ,it’s really not much you can ask for a guy just turned 19,he already had a mix of power and touch, and his instinct is great ,high tennis IQ .He might as well dominate the tour if he stays injury free, unless the “Old Next Gen “ can still improve . Also Rune is coming around as a super star potential, although he might not be as early matured as Alcaraz ,I can definitely see him go on the top as well.
Nah what was insane about the match was Novak COULD play him, but Alcaraz's resilience in every moment Novak had a chance to come back was just on another level, it was his mental fortitude in the 3rd set that won him the match, as well as his play obviously
Not sure, I watched the whole match and I think Carlos made a lot of unforced errors today and although Djokovic was playing well, wouldn't say he was at his very best. A great match don't get me wrong and Carlos is definitely a future number 1, however plenty to work on for him.
Carlos has it all, a huge forehand, insane speed around the court, so much touch, great ability to volley, can play magnificent drop shots with his forehand/backhand, beautiful topspin lobs, and he’s young! The world of Grand Slams is awaiting!
He reads Djokovic's game well. Really rise to the occasion with more more composed shots. Legend in the making if he keeps on improving. Congrats to Alcaraz!
What can I say ? I'm lost for words ! Djokovic played really well, but Alcaraz won anyway. That's just insane ! How can you be that good at that age !?
Great game! Carlos never ceases to amaze me, not only with the way he plays but also with his mentality and game intelligence - he almost always has an answer. In moments when the "nxtgen" players mostly fail mentally, he usually brings his best tennis. How many times have we seen "nxtgen" players play insanely well against the Big 3 only to end up mentally falling apart? I'm careful with the comparisons to the Big 3 - it's a very long way from a 19-year-old super talent to such a successful career as Roger, Rafa and Novak had. He must not have bad luck with injuries and must have the necessary motivation and hunger for success for almost 2 decades. At the same time, success must not get into his head. At this moment he seems to combine the qualities of the Big 3: he has Roger's aggressiveness and touch, Novak's backhand and defense, Rafa's heart and humility. He's also an all-court player, which I think sets him apart from 19-year-old Rafa. Novak played better than expected but is not quite at 100% yet. In a 5-set game he will have a mental advantage over Carlos, but it remains questionable whether he can physically endure 5 sets at this top level.
We haven't seen the title match at the US Open yet, which he's playing against Ruud tomorrow, but so far he's shown he's capable of 5 set matches after playing three 5-setters back to back and winning them all!
This has been one of most significant match of tennis history . Reign of master Djokovic is in transition to this spanish guy, Alcatraz was in beast mode and what a delightful match it was.
This will definitely go down as one of, if not the best match of the year. The level near the end was insane. Djokovic became really aggressive at 4-5 down in the third and threw everything at Alcaraz but the youngster still came out on top! He really stepped up a level in his defensive skills. Incredible. Hope he wins the final. He deserves it simply because he beat Nadal and Djokovic back to back.
Agree with everything you said but he shouldn’t win the final just because he beat two greats back to back( who we all know aren’t 100 percent atm). Alcaraz vs Tsitsipas will be exciting to watch.
That's exactly what everybody has been saying. 5 setter, totally different. No too long ago, Dominic Thiem was named hier to the Clay and Nadal beat him twice at the RG Finals. Then Dominc lost to others on RG whilke Nadal was collecting number 13.
Dude there’s a 16 year age difference lol, they may have a rivalry for a year or 2, but Sinner will be Alcaraz’s rival as he’s only 2 years older. Anyways, Alcaraz is a joy to watch and easily the most promising player since the big 3, but we need to see Alcaraz face Nole at a slam next tho as slams are always different beasts.
I am a big Novak fan..and I am always very sad when he looses, but big congrats. to Alcaraz. I had a feeling that Novak is playing with young version of himself :) Proud of the game from the both players.
@@zhichaohong2968 I don't see anyone really talking about it. There were several instances in the match where Novak was dictating the point, but then when the time was necessary to be confident and finish the point, he lets Alcaraz get back in the point with a mediocre finishing shot. Alcaraz has shown that he is a different breed of player already, and that he will absolutely punish any unconfident finishing shot. As the world number one, Novak knows this, and I think it's something Ivanisevic will surely work on with him to beat Alcaraz especially. The biggest example of this was when Novak had break point in the second set (4-4 I think?), where he was dictating the rally and should have been much more confident with that backhand crosscourt. He has such a good backhand, so why isn't he? Novak would have almost definitely won the point if he went for it right there, and most likely would have won the match. Of course, habituation must have played a big role in his inadequate finishing shots since he has been winning slams (2021 especially) playing the same way - since no one else on tour was comparable to Alcaraz now. I'm not saying Novak should start going for winners all over the pace, because it isn't his style - Alcaraz is simply a better shotmaker. What I am saying is that he should be 100% confident when attempting to finish points after dictating.

Without sounding hyperbolic, only a prime Big 3 or Wawrinka playing lights out, can match or exceed the level of Alcaraz at his best. With the BIG 3 gone, it's going to be open season for the young Spaniard. There's no stopping him...Let's pray for some worthy opponent/s.

Alcaraz will have an easier time vs Novak in Paris. Novak's serve will be less effective and at age 35 playing 5 Sets is too tiring.
Nadal and Nole will likely beat the kid in 5 sets. Experience and guile will matter more at Roland Garros.

Djokovic was playing at his top level here and Alcaraz managed to come out on top. Upcoming rivalries with them will be something to watch.
Top level Djokovic is only on GS now, he's too old to be always on high level.

Alcaraz is not like the young version of Novak. He is an attacking player. Novak is more defense than attacking.
@@zhichaohong2968 You are right, but they are very look alike

Alcaraz is unreal. This finally feels like watching the next World #1 instead of just hoping that the next gen can win 1 match.
We're watching the rise of a generational talent, like Federer or LeBron. Let's enjoy it.
The kid struggled. If he wins in straight set, then you guys can stream. He nearlyt got a bagel from Nadal on the second set (6-1). Come one, it is good he won, but don't call what it is not. Too premature. Let's see if he can win 5 Madrid titles like Nadal, the only record.
@@mosessimon2687 He fell down in the set that he "nearly got a bagel" in.
I'm savouring every moment of the incredible talent and longevity of excellence provided by Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, which may never come our way again. Never have I wished for next gen to win a match- I have wished for superb tennis. All three are incredible and I wish Carlos the best in his career. But for me, it is the incomparable Rafael Nadal who plays the most thrilling and breathtaking tennis on this planet. Ever. That's what I will be enjoying the most for every minute I am fortunate enough to witness.
why u insult those legends with a baby ? what if tomorrow tsitsipas will beat this baby in his home ?
Where u will go hide next ?
@@mosessimon2687 My brudda he beat Nadal and Djokovic in a row. Nuff said
Crazy skills! This kid is going the distance. Really talented player. Great for tennis!
Level of the game... no words just insane !
Nole-carlos rivalry is awesome... hope for yet another chapter in flushing meadows ❤
Incredible. Nobody beats Djokovich in close matches. Superb!
Thiem does
Federer at RG 2011 beat Djokovic at a close semi-final. Federer lost to Nadal at final as usual.
Yeah Novak has lost plenty of close matches. However not many have beaten Nadal and Djokovic back to back in close matches
@@dpa71999 And wheres Thiem?
@@Mr-Yo Rome🤌
Reminds me when Novak beat Roger and Rafa in Toronto 2007, same age... For this young man only left is mental build up and try to be ready for 5 sets or 5+hours of hard play.. He is going to be number 1 for many years for sure. Congrats..
DJOKOVID WAS WINNING SINCE LAST 5 YEARS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PROPER COMPETITION FOR HIM. ONCE HE GOT COMPETITION HE IS NOT ABLE TO WIN AGAINST A 18 YEAR OLD KID.
HIS ONLY LUCK WAS HE HAD ADVANTAGE AGAINST RAFA PLAYING STYLE. .
@@pintoacr3800 dude, last 11 years he won 19 Grand Slams, are you serious. What a ignorant and dumb comment LOL.
Novak is Goat

@@stosto1071 HE JUST LOST TO A KID . nADAL ALREADY WON AGAINST ALCARAZ TWICE.

Well it's about time that Djokodal have to contend with a young ATG who is improving with every passing tournament.
Now it gets interesting.
To be honest he has elements in his game that the the big 3 specializes at and some more. Truly incredible.
We really need an extended highlights video from this match!
It's not miracle that beating two of Big 3 consecutively in yesterday and today watching his highly tactical construction of play, extraordinal technics of dropshot, strong mentality and physical strength. Hoping to see him win finals. He is a real player will dominate tour after Big 3.
A voir l’attitude de djoko après le 1er set j’ai été pour alcaraz…. On aurai cru qu’il avait gagné le match. Rien que pour cela j’ai soutenu alcaraz qui pour son jeune âge reste humble.
A new star is born,
This incredible talent Alcaraz showed up at the right time for his career, when tennis was getting stale from the big 3 era and now the spots in the top 10 will start rearranging favourably for him
I think we’re finally starting to see the next great young contender now we need to see it in a GS but he seems to have the fire that I don’t see from the other young guys
Consistency, Tenacity and Patience with non-stop hard and soft ball returns from Alcaraz is what made this game beautiful! 😱😊♥️🎾💪
And just 4 months later, he's a grandslam champion and the youngest world no 1.
Alcaraz is here to make a statement. ❤️
He is only 19, but his tennis is so mature. Together with the strong mentality, he has a very bright future ahead
That smile at the end made me cry. It's bittersweet to see someone like this come up while the greats are slowly fading.
What a match!
An Alcaraz vs Djokovic in the latter stages of Aus Open would be something to savour for the ages...
