"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Sir I just wanna say thank you...you saved my life."
A great moment in cinema. The story of how these young men got to this point. With a connective thread through the movie of “what is your deepest fear”. Not only does this scene imply the impact that the studies could have on your life outside and beyond high school and your young years. It is also showing the viewer that; like the quote says, as we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others. This acknowledgement and giving of thanks, is a great representation of his understanding that his couch gave him the same opportunity that he can now give onto others. The opportunity to liberate you.
This has to be one of the Best Black movies ever made in our generation. Not about guns, sex, and ignorant niggas, but about pushing young people to bring out their true potential.
I feel this is what the majority of us are missing in life. A coach, a mentor to help you figure life out. Figure yourself out, your true potential. Our parents don't do this the majority of time. I give it to them that life is very difficult and providing economic security takes all their energy and time but as children (young adults) we need mentors. Older and more experienced people to help us become human. This is why the majority of my generation are like headless chickens just wandering around life, confused each day more and depressed because we are not where we thought/wished to be in life by now. I am in therapy now and I am learning so much and growing so much! I had no idea how to handle or understand some situations or feelings. Maybe it's just me, maybe other people have It harder and still manage to grow to full adults without the need for mentors, but I think the majority is more like me. And these other people that made it are more smart by natyre.
This is what I was missing in my life. I needed more than just school, teachers, parents, I needed an experienced mentor to help guide me through life and to make sure I know what I actually wanted to do.
My deepest fear is growing old and have lived a life with regrets. We have one life and people tend to forget that. You always hear old people say "time flies, make use of it while you can", I always heard this as a kid and I was like "okay". Growing to be an 18 year old young man I find it that they are telling the truth and they want us to not waste our gift of life on the stupid things that don't matter. Do with your life what you really want to do. If you have a dream, go out and try to accomplish that dream. Do not fear failure. There is no such thing as failure. Sure you may not have accomplished that goal but I'm sure you learned something along the way of trying accomplish that goal. Basically what I'm saying is live life to the fullest and enjoy it! There is nothing to fear!
@Woo same here man.. based on what if's i chose a different career path instead of singing i really wanted. Now I'm 25, wandering if it's too late to try. I joined a band and I'm going to give it my all.. hope it works. If it doesn't, at least i tried to live as deep as i know how.. no regrets
That was the realest shit I ever heard in my life. I get goosebumps everytime I hear that speech. Coach Carter is one of the greatest movies of all time because of the message it sends to young adults living in the ghetto in the struggle you can always overcome anything and everything in your way just know who you are and follow your heart
No matter how many times i watch this i still gives me watery eyes and goosebumps. Such a powerful scene with so much truth in it. Especially the part when he said “we were all meant to shine like children do” that right there is just wow…
if you cut out all the bullshit, and really think about it, this is true. people don't fear weakness, people fear power, and what comes with that power. responsibility, meaning, and consequences are too much for many people to handle in their lives, and they do indeed shrink themselves to feel more like everybody else, when truly they have greatness in them.
These kind of stuff are symptomes of Depression. So falling to Depression is your worst fear. Just a hint: Depression is no sign of weakness. Even the strongest and most strongwilled man or woman can fall to Depression.
My deepest fear is having to learn this now. I through the time I played and coached basketball, have turned down all my worries, frustration and anger. I focused today on basketball, I invested my time in education, for myself and for the children. I broke loose the chain of fear, and I’ve learnt that; with fear, performance is crippled. Thank you, all my basketball coaches. Thank you everyone, thank you
Not only is this one of the greatest movies of all time (I'd argue top 20 - 10), but Timo Cruz is my favorite character (or player). His development, his growth, and his ambition is amazing. Plus, the actors of the movie are incredible!
This is the kind of role that Samuel Jackson should have received an Oscar for. He's a critically under rated snd under appreciated actor. He had talent and range that is often overlooked.
Absolutely beautiful!! Timo delivered!! I shed a tear when I see the expressions of all the young men. They each recognized their own inner unspoken fears. In that moment I think all of them were set free.
My deepest fear is being insignificant once I leave the world. The fact that my friends and family's memories of me will soon be gone as they also leave the world haunts me every time it passes my mind. And that one person's life is just insignificant compared to the grand scheme of the universe. The hopelessness of the future is what I fear the most, even though I am aware that it's a thing beyond my (or anyone's) control so we shouldn't worry too much about it.
My deepest fear is loneliness. My deepest fear is meeting 1000's of people but never being able to actually connect with someone at a level where their is no space for pretence and lies and hidden thoughts.
Only way for that to happen, is for us to open ourselves up. It is very hard, I am aware, but that’s how we find eternal happiness, just gotta take that risk
My deepest fear is not focusing and choosing the right choices for and within life that matters in my individual self. Looking back on stuff that goes on deeply that gives my mind a negative vibe about anything that doesn't correspond to what i can learn from my mistakes, but I'll be the one that will depend on to share greateness in myself. I wouldn't care if people look at me different or something that can change my views as a human being. I wouldn't deal with the faith and hope that i have against my surroundings that life isn't what it seems as my childhood starts to fade away. I'll start to develop a man out of myself and become to what it seems to be myself standing in the mirror. People and others around me start to have doubt and certain questions about what i will do and wouldn't do, but I'll see that others would care about me and others just have it all with curiosity. It's all on them to feel that way about me, but I'll let them be. I'll say, I'm more of a person to feel humble and no regret against things in my point of view that i see. like i will always say, "Life is simply complex under the ordinary". If people say something about what you have against that people don't like, well it's their problem to feel that way. Like for example, if you're gay or any certain things that people can say mean stuff that will bring your emotions and mood down, it's just what makes you get distracted from the opportunities that will lead upon yourself . Being weird, gay, etc, is just what will makes us as human beings. It's life that they see, so don't go around saying about committing suicide or anything that can put your life in danger. As you know, anything that fears you is your choice to just let them. Every single human being will have the willing to change their point of views too. If you're reading this, just live along the chill zone or chill life as i will say. Be neutral to yourself and focus on postive thoughts that will keep your mind racing. Well, just remember to do what is best for you; Peace out.
If this is indeed true. Then I have been missing the picture. From a 19 year old with guilt of feeling like I am capable of more. But thinking I'm crazy because I see no one around me, like me. This gives me a reason to feel that powerful. To keep going. In the end I could inspire others to do the same. Just with my actions. Point is. I needed this. Its makes sense. And I hope its true.
Mine is quick sand...... and I know. I've been rich. Owned a ton of homes night clubs etc, dated the most beautiful women you ever seen. When I had a stroke all feel down. And no matter what I could not stop it. It was scary. Yet I am strong and I know the road I traveled and the mountains I had to climb. I have a path to greater things and is meant to do more then I thought I was enjoying and achieving..... I was paralyzed, had a heart attack at the same time. I crashed 3 times in the ER. My nurse that stayed with me for every hour. I won't forget how she cried thinking I was dead. As I looked at the monitor and seeing and feeling my life slip away as my BP was dropping down in to teen digits and the crash team working on me. I felt love from a stranger. Gave me my fight back. I recovered my body and now I'm recovering a life I built
Beauitful quote. My favourite "our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" meaning we hold back on beleifs that We think we cannot do ie. our limitations. When really there is none. Who says there is? What purpose does this serve? We are very much beyond measurement of what we can do.
I get it..when we excel others will also, and people fear others who can rise to the challenge..in so many words I think I follow this principle at work..I bust my hump and show other how to do what I do so we as a team can be great..a lot of people fear that in general as if they will lose what they have to others, I on the other hand think a great team no matter what it is, makes us all better.
We fear being powerful because that means that all our circumstances are of our own creation. We fear having to be the ones to correct them as well. We fear being different in any way, even if it means being above others in some ways. We’d rather be average.
My deepest fear is that one day I'll have to shine. Life is easy in the shadows. I've done great things, but now I think it's best if what was done is forgotten and we fade. Others can stand, I'm done.
My deepest fear is to reach a point in my life where i feel useless and that everything i have done in my life is a waste. To never reach my true potential and to live with uncertainty and regret. To feel that i'm a passive actor in my own life. To be overcome by my laziness and insecurity so much that i just reach nowhere. That is my deepest fear.
My deepest fear has always been dying the thought of it make me think that all I will see is black and nothing else for the rest of the life in heaven so this scene make me think about everything I have done so I always think man it’s been 14 years it feels like just yesterday I was born and now it feels like I have done so much I mean 14 years wow time flies man use what you have left of what you have in life
I must say that we he says "it is not in some of us, but in all of us" meaning the light, I must confess that it is not true. Light is given to only some of us, not all of us.
my deepeet fear is looking weak before someone and let them exploit me the way they want. i dont want to be left alone by someone and i really need to overcome this
These are characters from the movie "Coach Carter" that was great movie that gives the best inspirational speeches ever. Timo Cruz: Sir I just wanna say thank you, you saved my life. Samuel L. Jackson A.K.A. Coach Carter: Thank you sirs all of you That was a great speech from "Coach Carter the "movie". watch it on RUclips called "What is your deepest fear?" What is your deepest fear? this is like the best ,motivation ever. Just watch it, i promise it is great you will love it. i loved it and it helps me through some hard times in my life.
Out of all of the students to say it cruz made it that much more meaningful because of his situation..his cousin getting shot and him being in a gang which would have left him dead hence the " sir I just want to say thank you " I think that part hit more then the poem did even though the poem describes cruz's deepest fear.
I don’t know who casted him as the actor to play that part but he was THE PERFECT fit THAT FOR THAT LINE and said it at a perfect pace and just the right amount of emotion
My Deepest Fear Is That My Darkness Is Trying To Consume My Life & Light So It Will Never Shine. My Ablilty To Consume My Darkness To Let My Light & Life Shine Is What I'm Working At For Myself!? My Deepest Fear Is Me!? I Will Rise From My Ashes Like The Phoenix Blazing A New Start On LIFE ,I Will Be What GOD Called Me To Be His SOLDIER!? REAL TALK!?
My deepest fear is living life with out significant. Dowelling on Mediocrity or being mediocre (normal) is my deepest fear. We all have talents use them.
If you are growing, evolving, your deepest fear is subject to evolve as well. The challenges will become greater. And our deepest fear is that we will not be able to contend with what presents itself to us. It is only through a letting go and a steadfast faith that we meet the challenges which arrive along this path of Life!
When we are strong ... wether it is mentally, physically, spiritually... people see that and we unconsciously lead other to be strong and we liberated others to be strong as well ... and not showing keeps other down so we as people with the strong will to be good ... we show other people to strong as well ...
thats life right there. the powerlessness we feel once we realize that control is just an illusion. tick tock tick tock. yet we try to prove that wrong and attain control over our life. only to realize it can't be.
My heart sinks when Cruz walks out on his team in the library after his team supported him and backed him up with the suicides and pushups, but then we see what happens to his cousin, and so does he. He sees exactly what Coach Carter was trying to get him and the rest of the team away from, and what does he do, he runs back to the coach with his cousin's blood on his clothes and begs to be able to come back again, saying he'll do anything. Coach just asks the kid to come inside, asking nothing of him. We have no expectations of Cruz from that point on, let alone this, him sitting with the rest of the team, surprising the coach in the middle of the gym, let alone memorizing and reciting back this reference that the coach had asked of the team so many times, but what Cruz says at the end is so very true. If not for Coach Carter, he would almost certainly have ended up dead from street crime within a year or two, just like his cousin.
My deepest fear is me myself.. I'm feared of my family kids future my parents love in their old age, but I believe in one thing that I'll go till end of the world to keep my family safe nd secure... thank u all who supported me till now more to come....
This movie puts me in my feelings every single time especially this scene and the next scene after timo cousin got killed when he went to coach carters house to beg for him to be pit back on the team

Exactly that part should be corrected as many deny the light
my deepeet fear is looking weak before someone and let them exploit me the way they want. i dont want to be left alone by someone and i really need to overcome this
“Guys ! Coach is right, if we wanna win , it’s on us!!”
These are characters from the movie "Coach Carter" that was great movie that gives the best inspirational speeches ever.
Timo Cruz: Sir I just wanna say thank you, you saved my life.
Samuel L. Jackson A.K.A. Coach Carter: Thank you sirs all of you
That was a great speech from "Coach Carter the "movie". watch it on RUclips called "What is your deepest fear?" What is your deepest fear? this is like the best ,motivation ever.
Just watch it, i promise it is great you will love it.
i loved it and it helps me through some hard times in my life.
badass1297 .LMFAO💀
Out of all of the students to say it cruz made it that much more meaningful because of his situation..his cousin getting shot and him being in a gang which would have left him dead hence the " sir I just want to say thank you " I think that part hit more then the poem did even though the poem describes cruz's deepest fear.
Such a motivational quote.
the unstoppeable march of time slowly leading us to our extinction.
I don’t know who casted him as the actor to play that part but he was THE PERFECT fit THAT FOR THAT LINE and said it at a perfect pace and just the right amount of emotion
Such an inspirational and amazing scene.
Coach Carter - the best movie about sports
Just got this under my recommended after watching the clip where it features the classic Let the Drummer Kick
Favorite movie of all time ❗️❗️❗️
So deep stuff here I watch like 1000 times so deep
Well now its not using my full potential, my only setback was me and i let people take that from me with words and gestures. This was enlightenment
This the most powerful scene in the movie!!!!
My deepest fear is that someday people around me will finally realize that I am inadequate.
2009->2020
RUclips: Yeah let's recommend this to this viewers
If you are growing, evolving, your deepest fear is subject to evolve as well. The challenges will become greater. And our deepest fear is that we will not be able to contend with what presents itself to us. It is only through a letting go and a steadfast faith that we meet the challenges which arrive along this path of Life!
When we are strong ... wether it is mentally, physically, spiritually... people see that and we unconsciously lead other to be strong and we liberated others to be strong as well ... and not showing keeps other down so we as people with the strong will to be good ... we show other people to strong as well ...
My deepest fear is that I will not live to see 30, and by extension I will not live long enough to see my dreams become reality.
I'll pray for you so you can do so. God bless you every day!
Shelic D That's very kind.
+Salle Voznick you are valued. Dont forget that!
Shelic D Yet I act as an upstanding citzen day to day when in reality I am a sociopath. Now tell me, who would value that?
My deepest fear is dying without fulfilling my fullest potential
thats life right there. the powerlessness we feel once we realize that control is just an illusion. tick tock tick tock. yet we try to prove that wrong and attain control over our life. only to realize it can't be.
Here's another good one. The fear that one day the desire will be gone and I just won't care anymore... for anything.
This scene makes me cry every time
my deepest fear is i fear life, i fear expectation, i fear future, i fear. i am insecure
wow, awesome! I've always wondered where this quote came from. I saw it in that Spartan race trailer. Wow pretty cool!
My deepest fear is no matter what I do my life will never change
My deepest fear is Adam Sandler making a new movie.
Waterboy was a classic!
😂😂😂
Not only is he probably going to get nominated best actor but he might win. It would be a crazy timeline where he might win an oscar before DiCaprio
There is a line cut out of this scene. :(
My deepest fear is me myself.. I'm feared of my family kids future my parents love in their old age, but I believe in one thing that I'll go till end of the world to keep my family safe nd secure... thank u all who supported me till now more to come....
My biggest fear is being alone for my entire life
my deepest fear is not dying... but how death feels no one knows.
This movie puts me in my feelings every single time especially this scene and the next scene after timo cousin got killed when he went to coach carters house to beg for him to be pit back on the team
When the caption said "Is this your deepest fear?" I honestly thought there was going to be a pop out screamer
