No, I'm pretty sure that's roughly how good it gets. Don't piss the stevedores of, either, or the process slows to an absolutely glacial pace. And they have to measure the effect of the cargo on the ship on a regular basis. Plus machinery breaks down. And people get hurt. The thing is that each of those heaves weighs a hell of a lot more than it appears. And, sometimes, union rules. It's so easy to get in trouble doing this type of work, so the focus is on preventing deadness of the participants.
@@andysaunders3708 Absolutely, it is called a "ramp" where trucks can dump their loads directly into the ship cargo hold. It would be 80% faster and 100% safer. You can have a ramp over each cargo hold so you can load evenly and trucks are not sitting, waiting. They load barges with all types of materials like sand, dirt or rock using the ramp over the ship method. You could also do belly dumps directly over the ship, even faster yet, it would take a bit more structure then just the ramp method. I have no idea who thinks this is the right way to load a ship of this size, but this is border line idiotic!
