    • @drunkbunny94
      @drunkbunny94 7 лет назад +9

      +Angery Its not all about the speed. Personally its about the feed back that you get, i garuantee that I can type at about the same speed on every keyboard that has the same layout because that is what im used to, but if its linear its harder to feel when it activates, same with some rubber domes. Also i notice some fatigue when i use my keyboard at work that I have not encountered at home. Granted at home in not typing numbers and emails for hours at a time.

    • @95thRiflesOCI
      @95thRiflesOCI 7 лет назад +3

      You don't really need a mechanical keyboard to have the same performance. I use Logitech Silence professional lineup of wireless keyboards and they offer the same or even better gaming performance and daily tasks. Only thing is the larger foot print. Same goes with their MX revolution / performance mices vs something like their g700.

    I feel like at $200 you should get so much more from this keyboard. The way it looks now, it seems like it shouldnt go passed $100. Maybe if tbey add more functions (possibly an extra dial or other dedicated media controls), improved battery, adjustable inclination, and a more premium build, only after things like that ill consider it to be justified at $200

  • @acruzp
    @acruzp 7 лет назад +7

    It's cool for web browsing and volume control... but those Office "productivity" shortcuts are really just gimmicks.
    Also, everyone flipping out over the price: it's wireless, it's beautiful, it has many features. Yes it's suspiciously Apple-like but many people like me would pay the premium simply for the color matching with an MX mouse, and the minimalism it adds to a desktop.

  • @mingyech
    @mingyech 7 лет назад +83

    I wish the dial have used windows wheels API instead of Logitech's own software. And at this price I'd get a machenical keyboard and a surface dial.

    • @kornkernel2232
      @kornkernel2232 7 лет назад +5

      Yeah, Logitech should just use the built-in Windows Dial API which makes Logitech job easier and have more apps compatible with it, actually any app that will use Windows Dial API. There is really no need to have proprietary solution on Windows anyways, on Macs yeah since there seems to be no built-in feature on macOS for dial-type peripherals.
      Also even better to have fingerprint scanner too for Windows Hello authentication. There is so much space they can add stuff without making it ugly.
      Like you've said, I rather get a mechanical and Surface Dial instead of this. I like the look of this keyboard, but the price with its limited proprietary functionality is a bummer. It doesn't even come with detachable palmers.

    • @PtrkHrnk

    • @estidi
      @estidi 7 лет назад +3

      I think they have to include that anyway for Windows version that doesn't have the dial API (8.1 and below). But still, they should make use of native dial API whenever available. Hope they include it in later firmware updates, it would make it much more worthwhile.

    For 200 dollars this is retarded it is a 30 dollar keyboard with a dial that should be seperate if you think about it. Most creators are already accustomed to the hardware and dont have the time or just don't want to change their keyboard cause the paid a lot of money for it. What I think Logitech should have done is take the knob like they have in the z333 and put the features that they have in the dial on the keyboard in there priced at around 50 dollars because there is nothing really like this on the market. This would give people the flexibility they would want and make it a great product. Sorry for the rant but I had to say this. 😰

    Hard to believe more people aren't complaining about the week-long battery life. Seriously?? I have a logitech keyboard that is not backlit... wireless... and it uses 2 AA batteries - and lasts over a year. Are you kidding me??? It will spend most of its time being charged since it has an internal battery that only lasts about a week. It's a good-looking and apparently ergonomic-friendly keyboard with crisp keystrokes... but dang - pass on a week of battery life. I just can't do it.

    Just got this keyboard today. Didn't even know all the options and typing on it is fantastic. As for the dial in Premiere, it's hella better than zooming and moving the mouse to get to that EXACT moment in the video you want to make a cut or insert text, so it's a total win for me just for that alone. And it's precise.

    I bought the Craft keyboard some time ago. I'm a programmer. There are several things I really hate about this keyboard
    1. The switch between the several connections (1,2,3 keys over the home button) are very annoying. I sometimes press them accidentally and then nothing works anymore. Very confusing in the beginning and now very annoying.
    2. I really hate the top right button for locking your Windows session. I use the numerical keyboard very often including the + and - signs. The lock is so close to the minus sign that on a daily basis my system is locked several times because I tapped 1 key too high. I wish I could disable that.
    3. The backlight is just not working very well. From time to time it just stops working at all. Have to pull the cable and turn the keyboard off and on for it to start working again. Also very often when my hands get near it does not turn on. Have to tap the crown to turn it on. Very annoying when lights are dim.
    4. I use it mostly with the dongle and from time to time it just looses connection or keys get stuck in the down position and this causes the key last pressed just to go on forever messing up my code.
    5. The software looks pretty but from time to time just really sucks. It gives me errors, gets stuck. One time had to reboot my system just to get it working again.
    6. I hate the layout of the function keys. On many of the other keyboard I used, the function keys are grouped into 3 groups of 4 keys each. I knew the layout by hart and was able to find them blindly (f.i. F5 is used to build a solution is Visual Studio and was always easily spotted as the first key to the right of the first space between groups). The keys are no longer grouped and aligned evenly on the top row. That looks nice but it's a nightmare for me since I can no longer feel where the keys are and have to look every time. Stupid change if you ask me.
    I do agree with you it is a quality build keyboard and it has a very nice touch to it. But the firmware and software really need to be looked at. And you programmers out there. It may look tempting but keep away from this keyboard if you are used to and familiar with standard layouts.
    All in all. It's a pretty expensive keyboard but it has a lot of cons at the moment.

    Very nice review.
    I already have the keyboard and love it. It may be that it suites my typing style.
    As for the dial, It has limited functionality for me as only use it for the Microsoft Office Applications.
    The functionality within these applications are limited.
    I will suggest prospective purchases go into a store and have a feel for the keyboard.
    Before the purchase of this keyboard, I went through 3 brands in two weeks
    In my opinion, it is money well spent.

    The Logitech website has this keyboard listed at $199.00 U.S.D.
    For nearly the same cost as this Logitech Craft keyboard, I am doing the same as this using a Matias wireless Bluetooth backlit keyboard with a Griffin Powermate USB dial.
    So, $199 for this all-in-one Logitech Craft keyboard version is at a comparable price.
    My Matias keyboard, though can be used between both my Mac and my iPads/iPad Pro.
    My Mac setup with Matias Bluetooth backlit aluminum keyboard and Griffin Powermate Dial works with older Mac systems with older Mac OS versions all the way back to OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
    You need Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitán or later Mac OS to use this keyboard.

    If you think about this and its closest competitors, the Apple Magic Keyboard (129.99) or the Microsoft Surface Keyboard with Fingerprint ID (129.99), you really have to think is the extra knob, being able to connect multiple devices, and backlight worth $70 to you. For me i'd just get a Corsair K70 and some change.

    This keyboard looks great. I personally hate the big mechanical keyboards everyone has to use these days. It's a little too pricey for me though, it would be nice if they could have the same thing only without the dial if that would make it cheaper.

      You don't need to have a big keyboard to have a mechanical keyboard. These do not go hand-in-hand. If you were to say that "gaming" keyboards are big, than yes - I would agree that they are in fact generally larger but this is only due to their added features(Volume/Macro keys for example which take up more real estate) My G413, and Vara keyboards both have a an identical footprint as a standard membrane keyboard.

      I just meant the big, loud keys that sound (and feel) like they were made in 1980 to me. I just prefer the feel of a thin keyboard, like this one or even the Apple's keyboards. I've been using a big and clunky rgb Razer keyboard lately and I just can't get used to it, so I'm in the market for something more like this.. but this is just too expensive for what you get.

      There are lots of cheap 20-30 logitech and other brand keyboards at local electronic stores that have shallow Chiclets keys similar to a laptop/mac keyboard which correct me if i'm wrong - is what you seem to be aiming for. Even dell has shallow keyboards.

    This keyboard is a big disappointment - 200 USD one may think, would bring you the swiss army knife of keyboards. But why can you only connect it to 3 devices? 1 Desktop + 1 work Laptop + 1 private laptop + 1 iPhone + 1 IPad .... makes 5 and should not be to unusual to have that number of devices, escpecially those who are willing to spend this amount of money. The knob is nice - but there were keyboards 10 years ago, which provided similar knobs ... and they cost probably 10 or 20 USB more then regular keyboards .... but this functionality did not lead to twice the price of the current top logitech. Where are USB Hubs in case it is connected via cable? ... the sd-card reader? .... it is just a lame keyboard. As an ambitious media specialist - I would get one of the "old game pads" - e.g. Logitech, which offers 20+ programmable buttons, a joystick and more ... for - WAIT FOR IT" ~ 30 USD.

    I personally think that 200$ is a waste if it's not one of the best rated mechanical keyboard out there.
    If professionals/developers/inventors want a keyboard that makes their lifes slightly easy, almost most cheap Microsoft/Logitech keyboards with special keys or dedicated hot-keys (G1/G2/G3/G4/G5) will do the job.
    I bought a very cheap "Microsoft Wireless 800 Keyboard+Mouse" combo and tho i'm just a gamer, I know that this keyboard looks very nice compared to most regular keyboards, it has a built-in hand rest (whatever it's called), buttons are easy to register, and it has 4 dedicated media buttons, a calculator button, and a "Fn" button that provides you with additional 4 shortcuts located on the F5, F6, F7, F8 buttons, and the location where the windows button should be located in the right side near the arrow keys, is replaced with a new button that mimics the action of the right mouse click button (mostly displaying the options for a document or so).
    I bought this wireless keyboard+mouse for personal use, mainly i do gaming, but hell this keyboard is so flexible and fits for all kinds of tasks, whether it's for gaming, office works, or even coding for program developers.
    Cost me around 30-37$with a mouse (i use now Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury FPS mouse)
    I'm so satisfied with this keyboard that i'm barely sure that some day i'll consider buying mechanical keyboard. If i'll do, it'll probably be the Logitech G810.

    I would have seriously considered buying this keyboard if they 1. made it 70%-sized without the numpad and 2. made it cheaper. My desk space is just too small, and with my recently-added Wacom Intuos Pro, there really isn't any more space for a full-sized keyboard left on my desk (am using their K810 keyboard right now, by the way). And in fact, the Touch Ring on my Intuos Pro, while not as versatile or integrated, can provide similar functionality anyway.
    You know what would be the best? If they made just the Crown, without the keyboard. I would gun for that almost immediately.

    It's not $200. I saw it at Best Buy for $159, and I purchased two keyboards off eBay for $129 each with free shipping. You can easily adjust the automatic backlight setting or turn it off completely The keyboard works great and is very easy to use and type on! I mostly use the dial to adjust volume or pause videos, but I also use it to switch between tabs.

    Well, I guess you really need to enjoy that dial to justify this keyboard.
    I personally don't think I would. Battery life and build quality of the Apple Magic Keyboard or Surface Keyboard is better. (And a lot cheaper)
    1 week with this. 1 month with the Apple keyboard and 1 year with the Surface Keyboard. It's like the less you pay the more battery you get. Backlighting just isn't worth it.

    I'm tempted, but do consider it excessively expensive.
    An improved version with a somewhat larger, ribbed tactile, well-damped metal dial (ideally, with a touchscreen LCD / LED / AmoLED top that shows the app / system, the in-app mode it's in and the current function), no number pad, a vastly improved battery life, an integrated fingerprint reader to log onto the computer, to lock / unlock it, as well as individual apps or functions within the app, well-damped, somewhat more tactile keys with extremely tight tolerances between the keys and the main body, and a price tag of €150, I'd buy it in an instant. Of course, functions such as key illumination and a touch interface for the crown are indispensable as well. But that is not enough. An addition of an LCD/LED/AmoLED strip extending along the length of the keyboard next to the crown would be very enticing, too.
    I hope, Logitech is listening...

    Nope... just gimmick. Still, I prefer my gaming keyboard for all these macro keys that I can assign various shortcuts. After all these years working in Photoshop&co every couple of years, I'm still upgrading to mmo mouse and gaming keyboard. Corsair metal stylistic remains unbeaten for my taste. Besides, changing brush size is much faster with rebinding that to mouse scroll with a modifier. Why would i invest 200$ to have a dial. And that's only if I'm not working with Intuos.

    I'm considering buying this, deciding between this and the Razer Ornata Chroma. I'm hoping you can clarify something for me: How do the Photoshop adjustments work? And if so, how does the dial handle multi-layered documents with more than one adjustment layer? Thx in advance for your advice!

    Why is this wheel a selling point? We have had multimedia keyboards forever... The MAJORITY of which have more functionality, durability, and accessibility than this overpriced joke of a keyboard. I was thinking this might really be something I could put to use. But, honestly, I'm totally underwhelmed; especially at that price point. The keyboard itself is ..... well, a freaking keyboard. It's rather nice looking. But, really, who cares? It's just a freaking keyboard with some assignable buttons. And the dial seems like maybe $75 useful. Honestly, like I'm sure you can deduce from what I said about it's looks; I couldn't really care less about that aspect of a product; not as far as it might relate to the price. So, for the functionality alone, I don't think I would pay more than fifty bucks, at most.
    Really I wouldn't buy it at all, now that I think about it a bit more.
    Too bad. I could really use some good new input devices to help speed up my work.

    3:18 Two "alt" buttons really confusing, have to agree there.
    The Win key called "start"? Why not logo? Licensing issues?
    4:39 they could encode there 8 profiles as binary toggles (010, 101 etc)
    6:40 They also could easily add multitap and longtap there. Also the trigger duration of the taps.
    IMO - not worth it for that price.

    Funny thing is that you get that exact same software with their lesser expensive keyboards. I'd never go too low on the spectrum, but I personally have the k830... Same exact software suite, same options, same remapping, but it offers a windows precision touchpad as well. Oh, same nice backlight, same nice switches... only thing it doesn't have is the dial. Far better option in my opinion... Based entirely on the fact that the asking price for the Craft Keyboard is a joke.... a bad one.

    I don't get it. A $200 keyboard should perform functions flawlessly. Yet, this reviewer admits that certain things, e.g., the overly sensitive knob, aren't quite right. I've used a quality mechanical keyboard for the past few years, and honestly, it just hasn't disappointed me yet. I use a high-end gaming mouse which offers a lot of customization options even if you don't use it for games. Also, I'm left wondering if the switches on this keyboard are even mechanical switches. Are they rubber dome switches with a tighter mechanism? If so, the thing is overpriced. Further, one of the things that you should expect from a high-end keyboard is durability, and this keyboard does not seem very robust.

    I am amazed!
    I am amazed, how you can reinvent a resell inefficient design just with few colors and stupid gadgets.
    Keyboard is nowadays your primary input for computer. So it makes sense it to be good and efficient, ergonomic. And this has none or it. Bad ergonomics (good ergonomics is more expensive), bad keys, not enough of programmable keys. Instead you get backlighting, which is pointless for someone who does not look at keyboard (which everyone who uses keyboard should learn), and knob is distant from fingers home position and it's uses are really limited.
    So yes. This is excellent product for someone who do not use keyboard that much and want to brag about his keyboard based on its looks despite of flawed functionality.

    I have the Griffin Powermate bluetooth, and frankly, it sucks for my purpose (although being perfect in theory). I bought it to get a tactile control over the Q-value when doing live EQ parameter sweeps in Logic with the mouse. Does the Logitech dial have high resolution? And this is probably the most important question for me: Does it have a deadzone? That's what really killed the Powermate for me. (no pun intended) I had to turn it at least one or two millimeters before it responded. Totally out of the question.
