Nice...I have never seen this technique before.
I hope you do a one month six month and a year later update.
Wow! I really appreciate you sharing this. I'm looking for options to cover my dated shower tiles and this seems doable. Thank you!
Holy shit Amber this is amazing! In Australia the microcement products are often only sold to professional trades or the kits you can buy are $1400 for 10m2... I wanted a softer colour but for the price difference I might be able to compromise.
Great video! Extremely helpful, and what a beautiful result :)
Thats simply brilliant!!!
Grwat video. Thanks. Awesome way to explain
THIS IS SO KILLER!!!!!
Great job Amber,I like to try it in the kitchen .
KUDOS. Glad i found this video. You did a great job!!! I'll probably remove the shower head and shower knob plate cover first.
Great video
Here from LRN2DIY. Looking forward to viewing your content.
Thank you for this video! Exactly what i want to do in my bathroom but wasn't sure if it was possible or if it would last!!! Can't wait to do the same!!!!
Thanks so much!
this deserves so much more recognition - thank you soooo much for sharing :)!! this is an idea I had for my bathroom as well but I want to do the entire bathroom, does the concrete mix absorb water well? we have a problem with moldy / moist spots so I want it to be good for cleaning & drying
The trick to masking with tape is to pull it while it’s still wet. You only had an issue because you waited til it dried
Very interesting. It looks clean/industrial. I think I’d have to see one first hand to be sold on it. A lot of work ! Good job, nice vid 👍
Thank you!
I just finished a shower in my rental unit! Thank you for this video! ❤ I want to do another shower, but was wondering if you had any tips on clean up in between mixing. I found that to be the most annoying. Also which trowel was easiest to use.
I was looking for a video just like this found you from another account love it
Awesome! Thank you!
I love this
Did you get any cracking
congratulations on your channel. I found out about your channel from LRN2DIY. You seem very comfortable and natural on camera. Keep the videos coming. FYI, I personally don't watch shorts. My old mind doesn't work that fast. :)
Thanks so much! That means a lot to me! I'm grateful for the support! & We're big fans of LRN2DIY.
Could you then tile over one wall of it if you wanted to?
Truly amazing. I wonder if it would adhere to a ceramic tub with a finish on it. Previous owner did the epoxy over tile thing in my house and I'm trying to think of a quick reno solution that doesn't require stripping or demo.
I wish I had an answer for you on that. I’ve been asked that a lot and I’m not sure. I do know that on the Henry Feather Finish box it claims it bonds to just about every surface. So it might work - but I worry with the water not running off right away, like it does in the shower, it might cause issues. So I would look into a better sealer/ top coat
How long did everything take to dry?
Is it slippery at all when wet?
hi. learning from you. do you think filling in the grout lines with more grout and blending it out so that the tile and grout become more flush with one another would help with this process?
Any Canadian products that are similar for my Canadian friends watching this video?
Are there any options for color besides the grey you used in the video? Great job btw
❤❤I know Ardex sells a white feather finish cement but I’ve never used it. I’ve seen people on Pinterest use it for their countertops and it looks beautiful
How long did this last?
What did you end up doing with the floor? I have such a similar tiled shower and floor and I want to do this but I don't know what to do about the floor. Cement floor and shower seems like too much maybe? I'm not sure. Also would love if you could post what sanders you used! I have an orbital, but wondering if need others for this project.
I cemented the floor too 😅 although this is where all the water just sits so I’m start to see a few trouble spots. I’ll be posting a video about that soon.
The sander I’m using is a dewalt orbit sander but really any sander would work. You could even sand it by hand if you wanted 😊
I love it you’re such brilliant. I have a question for you I want to do it white do you think Arden Feather Finish will give same result?
Thanks so much 🩷🩷 I haven’t worked with Ardex feather finish but everything I’ve researched has said that Henry’s & Ardex are the same thing. So I would think it would give the same result!! The white would be gorgeous 😍
Wow wow. Amazing ❤❤❤. Can we use any type of cement instead? Do you have any idea? Tnx
Good question. I don’t think you can. Regular cement won’t stick but this feather finish cement is created different and it bonds to just about any surface- at least that’s what the box says 😊
Love your diys! Have you ever tried adding paint to the heather finish?
Thanks so much!!
Yes! I tried mixing paint in the cement and it caused it to crack 😞 but painted over it with 1•2•3 zinsser primer and that has worked!
Would you paint over the seal & seal again or have to paint it before sealing ? @amber-uponaladder
Do you know if this can be done on countertops? If so, any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks! I love your TokTok channel!!
Yeah, I've seen people do this on Pinterest! The only thing people seemed to have trouble with was oil splatters. But all the countertops looked really pretty.
Thank you 🙏🏻
how long did the sealer take to dry when you did 8 to 10 layers? how slippery is it?
The first two layers took about an hour and a half to dry and then each layer after that dried faster and faster. It’s surprising not slippery! It feels about the same as tile- smooth but enough texture to not slip. If that makes sense ☺️
Is there a way to have white cement?
Ardex has a white feather finish. I’ve never worked with it but from what I’ve researched Henry’s & Ardex are the same thing. So I would think the white feather finish would work. I’ve just never tested it out. The white would be so beautiful. I wish I had more experience with it
How many packs you used to cover the shower wall? It says it covers up to 150sqf. But it seems like that too good to be true. Great video👍
I only had to use one box! It goes a long way if you mix it in small batches. 🤗 It dries really fast so if you mix too much at once it will dry up before you can get it on the wall.
I had to use 2 boxes but that's due to the grout in 1-inch tiles on the shower pan lost majority of the grout & needed more filling
Just wondering, does the cement texture feel rough, scratchy, or uncomfortable to the bottom of your feet?
It feels a lot like tile actually. There's just enough texture that it doesn't feel slippery & the sealer helps it feel smooth, not scratchy.
@@amber-uponaladder Thank you so much for your quick response! Also, I want to thank you for including the one-year update about how well the products you used have held up, no cracking, no mildew issues, etc.
How much of tje cement do u need?
I only had to use one box! It goes a long way if you mix in smaller batches. Otherwise it dries to fast before you can’t use it all
How long did the project take you? Thanks! LOVE IT!
It took me 2 maybe 3 weeks to finish but that’s because I worked on it here and there. There is a lot of waiting for layers to dry but if you’re working consistently on it I would think it could be done in a few days
You are my hero 🦸♀️ can you please advise if there is a white option?
I literally just watched a video where a guy used white... I'll post if I can find it again
I know Ardex sells a white feather finish cement but I’ve never used it. I’ve seen people use it on the countertops though and it looks beautiful
Is the floor slippery?
I am curious about this too
Can you shower if you don’t finish the sealer in a day.
I gave it 3 coats of sealer yesterday & it seems to be fine but im giving it 2-3 more today just to be safe. I'm waiting on the 4th coat to dry then will do a water test 🤞🏼
Thank you JESUS there is an easy fix to a crappy make over job 🙌🏾💪🏾❤️
can this be painted?
Not sure but I'm thinking with concrete paint it would work 🤔
If you don't deglaze your tiles that skim coat will start to flake within a year. You didn't deglaze.
Can you tell me how many boxes of Henry cement you used for the 5 coats? Looking to do this to my kids shower
Btw, your shower looks amazing
Reminds me of the bathrooms we had in crackhouses.
it looks like my shower while I was in prison
😂 Design is funny like that. And very subjective. I like this type of simple wabi-sabi look.
@@nazikiwe8259absolutely!
We put stainless shower inserts so you boys don’t get frisky in there anymore.
I think it looks cool
