You need to pay attention to the full range of sounds. Most people only listen to the melody, but there's also the chord progression that the song/melody is based on. So the singing parts could sound wildly different but have the exact same chord progression.

I feel like this series just shows how different a musician's ear is. Cause to my untrained ear, that new song sounded exactly like "Pour Some Sugar on Me" because the vocals and rhythm are the same. And the wedding-like songs at 12-minutes didn't sound any more similar than ballads in general.

@@LauraCroftxxx Yes. They used reference tracks to produce something slightly different & from what I can tell that's pretty much all their producers know how to do. Every song they produced has clear elements of an older song in it. I think the purpose is for the nostalgia factor it brings in but I wish they didn't do it on every single song ever. I don't know how I feel about producers who do that. It's still their work, they still came up with something themselves but it all starts with someone else's work. Sometimes it bugs me & sometimes I enjoy it, a lot of producers do it especially in today's music. Even Niall's solo albums where he used a few of One Directions producers, every song they worked on with him has an element of another old song in it. If I wasn't in my 40s & if I didn't remember all those old songs I might not notice it as much. Sometimes I like it but sometimes all I hear is the other song playing in my head.

@@LauraCroftxxx Yes. They used reference tracks to produce something slightly different & from what I can tell that's pretty much all their producers know how to do. Every song they produced has clear elements of an older song in it. I think the purpose is for the nostalgia factor it brings in but I wish they didn't do it on every single song ever. I don't know how I feel about producers who do that. It's still their work, they still came up with something themselves but it all starts with someone else's work. Sometimes it bugs me & sometimes I enjoy it, a lot of producers do it especially in today's music. Even Niall's solo albums where he used a few of One Directions producers, every song they worked on with him has an element of another old song in it. If I wasn't in my 40s & if I didn't remember all those old songs I might not notice it as much. Sometimes I like it but sometimes all I hear is the other song playing in my head.
I think that was kinda the point 😂 idk
