First thing I did couple years ago when buying this car was replacing stock "sound system" with custom one. Unfortunately Citroen does not offer stock upgrades even with Shine+ packages.

    • @TotallyEV

Indeed, but how did you upgrade it and where?

@@TotallyEV independent car acustic shop. 8 DLS speakers + DLS sub, new amplifier, sound insualtion in doors and panels, EQ and adapter some new holes to fit additional speakers and viring ;)

Mind sharing how much parts and labour came to? Sounds like a great setup btw!

    • @butnskala81

@@TotallyEV total cost was around 2K EUR - around 300 EUR for labour, 250 EUR for additional insulation and cables and around 1.450 EUR for components (4x DLS RC6.2 2 system speakers, DLS CCi amplifier, DLS ACW subwoofer, hi-low adapter, ESX sound processor). Works really good but if I had option to go for stock upgrade I would choose it (like I always do with new car).

That's very cheap labour tbh, sounds like a great deal! But does it sound as good you'd want it to?

The audio I get on my C5 Aircross is just “ok”, but would not compare with the ones I had on my previous cars- XC60 and A6. While I do boost the bass, it still misses subwoofer big time (no rattle in the doors, however). I would happily top up the bill for a Bose, or the likes of, if this was an available option. Luckily, I like all else in this car except its infotainment.

Think it would be hard to beat the stock systems of the XC60 and A6 to be honest. And indeed, would be nice to have had the option!

I think the quality is quite ok, but the limiter really gets my nerves. When passing the 20's the limiter cuts the volume on bass heavy music. Pass that mark, when there's a drop the volume raises and then just drops on first bass note. This bugs me a lot. No workarounds that I can find. The volume is just very quiet.

Im not an EV owner, I have the flair model which is a 2019 32k 1.5 Adblue diesel 8 speed Automatic and I have to say the audio is dissapointing, back in the 1980s I had a Mk2 vauxhaul cavalier and a factory head unit and four speakers I added a 2 channel Maplins 150watt amp to a custom parcel shelf with two 6 x 9 plastic coned 150 watt speakers with integrel tweeters and the sound was much more punchy than the drivel that comes out of the citroen c5 aircross head unit alone, you could feel the deep bass in your chest even without a subwoofer, I am considering going down a similar route with the Aircross, a rear parcelshelf costs £350 for the Aircross so that will be replaced with a custom MDF shelf and the OEM one stored. There is no real need to add a whoping great 1000 watt amp to get a serious improvement of sound you can take a feed from the rear door speakers and run a 2 channel amp adding speakers to a custom parcel shelf and really acheive good results as long as your speakers match the amplifier output, the 12volt Dc plug in the boot only live when the ignition is on is a good power supply source for a small amp. No real need for a huge sub taking up valuable boot space however I shall start by replacing the oem speakers citroen are not known for fitting good quality door speakers, come to think of it who is? @@TotallyEV

The audio system is very poor for this kind of vehicle that should be the flagship in the category . The audio is absolutely not good and it has an auto "normalizing" sound, that is when more instruments enetring in the track all of them automatically becoming flat and losing the spirit and soul of the song. Vice versa with few instruments (Like acustic song) the perception is better.
WHo is listening rock or pop music or even symphinic , this sound system is absoluteòy not enough

yes it gets to No 25 in the volume range and there is nothing more between 25 and 30 the amplifier just gives up at 25. the on screen graphic equiliser helps a little but its only 3 bars not five or even seven.

@@oojimmyflip Thanks indeed. That's really very bad for a flagship car like that. For sure I will not suggest it to anybody expecially who runs many km per days!
