Breathtaking this restoration !!! One off the most beautiful piece off furniture i have ever seen !!!! My compliments for this craftsmanship and this work is amazing ! Thanks for sharing !
Yes!!! Came here to say this. The piece is STUNNING and he did an amazing job... but the silver-toned lock looked absolutely awful, your eye is immediately drawn to it and how it clashes with the awesome industrial brass hardware and the gorgeous warm honey tones of the walnut.
@@GM_Design I’m currently working on an mcm walnut gentleman's chest of drawers and I was trying to film it (I cant help but want to join in on the RUclips furniture community but I'm just one of woman alone in my kitchen lol) so I was watching you and I just sank a bit because this was breathtaking. I know better than to compare my skills, methods etc to anyone else but well.....THANKS A LOT I GOT NOTHING DONE BECAUSE OF YOUR MASTER WORK!! I kid. I loved it. I subscribed and I'm devoted now. (Wow, stalker much woman?! Behave!)
nothing is beyond reach, keep working at it and you’ll get there. I only started a couple of years ago, am self taught and still learning! 6 weeks ago I had never filmed or edited a video, that sort of thing doesn’t come naturally to me, now I’ve got 5 posted. Don’t get me wrong i’ve still go a long way to go, and I hope I’m improving on every one, but we can only strive to better ourselves 😁
@@GM_Design omg really??? 6 weeks ago? You're gonna blow up. There are certain channels that you can see a gifted artist....you got it. I'm going to film today and give it a go...I mean its not like anyone will see it and I'll be over that part. How did you not keep that piece? I get too attached which I have got to get over. Yesterday I spent the day watching you and carefully removing the brass feet with little floating discs to clean them by hand and it literally took all day (and it was soul crushing because it had a level of patina rarely seen.....not sure why I didn't boil them but I was so distracted and determined to do it the hard way...this has got to stop! Lol). I commend you on the chic choice in handles. That piece is on point. I feel like I missed the top. Did you paint that as well? im going to do black to feature a carving on this piece that just needs to be showcased and I was up all night thinking of where I'm painting and I'm where I'm revealing walnut.
Love this restoration. The knobs give it an updated look, but I really love the old ones. Just my personal preference, but probably not what the customer wanted. Beautiful job!
You did a beautiful job it came up very nice Of which for me as a tradesperson I couldn't cover the beautiful veerner with paint I,m a traditional restoration tradesman in Antique and Vintage furniture McCormack and Sons Restorations Qld Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you! 😊 The veneers on the sides were quite plain, I wouldn’t have painted if they had any sort of figure. But this was a commission and the customer requested the black, I do think it makes the beautiful veneer on the front and top really pop though
Absolutely gorgeous piece! It’s breathtaking! I’m getting ready to do a couple pieces and I wanted black with the walnut but wasn’t sure if it would look good together. Thank you for clearing that up for me:) This is the first video of yours I have seen. Needless to say, I subscribed. Can’t wait to see what else u got!!!
Beautiful job! One suggestion: small damage repair wax sticks are used after finishing, either shellac, varnish or hardwax oil, as they either do not adhere to wax, or dissolve it (hardwax). Also, this way you can use the correct color wax, which is not that of the unfinished wood.
Absolutely beautiful . The grain on the wood is gorgeous. Just one thing, the men who made that beauty had no access to power tools like your rotary sander. Sanding was a block and sandpaper. Wonder how long it took them?
Beautiful work and awesome piece! Great choices!! To quote someone else: “sometimes I can believe that wood is an actual thing”. 😁 Can you share who makes the hardware?
thanks, glad you liked it 😀 That was methylated spirits/denatured alcohol, the paper towels keep it on the surface longer and from evaporating too quickly
Don't let it go. Keep it. It's just too pretty to sell. Unless you have cats - then you might have to let it go 😉 That's why I don't have really beautiful things like this in my house lol 😻 I wasn't sure about the hardware but it really works ❤❤❤❤
Thanks glad you liked it 😀 Here is a link to the hardware - ironmongeryexperts.co.uk/hoxton-antique-brass-wenlock-30mm-knurled-knob-on-stepped-backplate-hox130-6090ab.html
WO W ! ! ! Look at that grain! What a lucky find! This is good work, congrats! I'm sure you've managed, to keep the customer satisfied! I'm not sure, if I wouldn't have used the old hardware as well, but his is, as always, a matter of individual taste. The new hardware is nice as well anyway. Looks like you need some subbing - so the sub button with the bell is pushed now. Lookin' forward to more! Greetings from Germany from the silver fox, David 😉🦊
Really nice. However, if I had commissioned this piece, I wouldn’t have been happy with a silver lock. It would have to have been brass for me to match the rest of the hardware. But of course, just my opinion.
👏🤩💕 I love the old brass handles more...
Breathtaking this restoration !!! One off the most beautiful piece off furniture i have ever seen !!!! My compliments for this craftsmanship and this work is amazing ! Thanks for sharing !
Wow, thank you!
U did a great job, but I would’ve preferred the original hardware 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fair enough! Glad you like it 😀
The industrial feel of the hardware really sets off the lush figure of that glorious wood.
thanks glad you like it 😀
Lovely Art Deco piece, beautiful veneer - and an elegant save.
Thank you very much!
Stunning result...they don't make furniture like that so much now...thank you!!
Thank you! 😊, no unfortunately they don’t, I get excited when I find old pieces like this as they are stunning once finished
Amazing work!! I’m a huge fan of a paint and stain combo. Paint always makes the grain stand out! And that hardware? Love it! 🙌🏻
Thank you so much 😀
It came out nice!
Top looks like a butterfly ❤
Love the patterns in the veneer.
Incredible veneer stunning finish great work
Thank you so much 😀
Yeah, you knocked that one out of the park. Going to have to look in to that finish…..great work.
Thanks 👍
Preciosa restauración, preciosa madera, una gran recuperación
Stunning 👍🏾🇬🇧💙
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful, beautiful wood, beautiful piece and beautiful restoration!
Thank you very much!
I couldn’t let it go either. It’s beautiful.
Looks totally gorgeous ❤ One question though, why put a silver lock when the handles were brassy colour? Stood out like a sore thumb 😮
agree, i noticed this also.
rest of piece is beautiful.
Yes!!! Came here to say this. The piece is STUNNING and he did an amazing job... but the silver-toned lock looked absolutely awful, your eye is immediately drawn to it and how it clashes with the awesome industrial brass hardware and the gorgeous warm honey tones of the walnut.
This is the way to update art deco with respect! Love this!
Glad you like it!

thank you for the kind words 😀 The top was walnut veneer as well, and quite stunning, mustn’t of shown it off properly in the video
Love this restoration. The knobs give it an updated look, but I really love the old ones. Just my personal preference, but probably not what the customer wanted. Beautiful job!

Well done. It's stunning

Exquisite
thank you 😀
That veneer repair triangle was a shame, but the rest was superb
Absolutely beautiful . The grain on the wood is gorgeous. Just one thing, the men who made that beauty had no access to power tools like your rotary sander. Sanding was a block and sandpaper. Wonder how long it took them?
Thanks, so pleased you liked it 😀 I am very thankful for modern technology 👍
Beautiful work and awesome piece! Great choices!! To quote someone else: “sometimes I can believe that wood is an actual thing”. 😁 Can you share who makes the hardware?
thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The hardware is Hoxton Antique Brass Wenlock 30mm Knurled Knob on Stepped Backplate, hope that helps 😀
Stunning veneer. Original hardware preferred.
thanks 😀
Wow...lovely outcome. So, California here....what is your technique? Paper towels and, what, water? Alcohol? (@3:57)
thanks, glad you liked it 😀 That was methylated spirits/denatured alcohol, the paper towels keep it on the surface longer and from evaporating too quickly
Loved this. One question though, why did you choose to paint the sides black? Was the veneer not as nice or something else?
thanks, glad you liked it 😀 Yes the veneer was quite plain, nothing special, and this was commissioned by a customer and that’s how he wanted it.
what is the stick that you keep melting and applying? I'm new to this and think they looks like a very useful fix....
they are burn-in sticks, you can get them in wax or shellac, they are very useful for small defects etc. hope that helps 👍
Don't let it go. Keep it. It's just too pretty to sell. Unless you have cats - then you might have to let it go 😉 That's why I don't have really beautiful things like this in my house lol 😻 I wasn't sure about the hardware but it really works ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😀 Unfortunately it’s already got a new home waiting for it
Where can I get the hardware you used?
The unit is stunning!
Thanks glad you liked it 😀

glad you liked it 😀 thanks so much for the comments, sub & like it’s very much appreciated 👍
Is that called tiger woods?
no, it’s beautiful figured walnut 😁
Really nice. However, if I had commissioned this piece, I wouldn’t have been happy with a silver lock. It would have to have been brass for me to match the rest of the hardware. But of course, just my opinion.
Great point! Glad you liked the rest 😀
👏👏👏👏
No to the industrial hardware on an elegant piece.
Tats can be removed with lasers.
Looks like a place the green globulin would hide his mask
❤❤❤🇦🇺
Nice.. would have been more beautiful. If you HAD NOT painted the sides black.!!! 🤔🤔😭😭
I love the veneer and the job don on it. I don't like the 50s/60s hardware on what is an quit esentaly art deco peace
Всё хорошо. Но не надо натирать петли или надо ставит блестящие ручки.
The handles are wrong.
Why take the Time to clean the top and sides just to paint them. The only thing that looks good are the doors and drawers.
Brilliant work friend really pop's to say the least, have a nice day !!!. Brian UK !!!. 😀😀👍👍🪚🪚📐.
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing restoration!!! Congrats!!!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
