The front triangle looks... dated. We have kinda got used to those new frames where the top tube and the chainstay form one line (which means the top tube is visually connecting the head tube with the rear hub) - because it gives a really low standover and allows super-long dropper posts. Otherwise a pretty decent bike!
Any modern geometry bike you can just hold on and the bike can do all the work. Its all about how good you are with the bike and how far you can push it.
Great review but forget DH tyres and lighten up a little if you want to get to those hills you want to go down. The tyres are the grippiest I’ve ever ridden but have decided to go continental and save 450g in rolling weight alone. Transformed the bike completely. Lighten this bad boy and it’ll become all the bike you’ll ever need. Stick stupid 2.5” tyres on and you need to buy another bike!!
My status broke after 1 week of use. The headtube is weak on the frame and bent out of spec after a few descents at Ucsc. Specialized only wanted to grant crash replacement warranty. Complete bullshit that they claim to provide lifetime warranty. 1 week long bike frame lifespan

if you have really long arms and upper body, goes S4, if you have long legs and normal or short upper body/arms go s3, im 173cm with very short arms and riding S2
Hi, how tall is Robin?
Not in Mexico...€3750.00, but I still love mine
Anyone know the price of Status 140 in Canada?
What are the fellas glasses?
Fielmann
Please, how tall are you? Im 182 cm and not sure if i want S3 or S4. I want it to be more tricky (i jump a lot and doing some tricks and other stuff), but it will be my universal bike and im worry about S3 will be to small for normal riding for me :(
Did you get a s3 or 4 ? We’re the same height and I went s4 and been riding it for the 6 months and I maybe could’ve gone s3. But I’m happy and it smashes descents and is hella playful still. Best bike I’ve owned
How tall is the rider in this video riding the Status?
Butcher is a great tire imo.
Az Lean there is also wider versions.
I am 184cm tall. what size should i choose? s3 like you? I like to go to the bike park for big jumps but also for local trails
im 178cm Im riding an s3. It feels perfect for me but I believe I would feel fine on a larger s4. considering that your a fair bit taller than me I think an s4 would fit you better
@@donovanhendrix9857 thank you
whats the diffrance between s2, s4 and s5 sizes?
bigger number means bigger bike
basicaly on the status S1=Small S2=Medium S3=Medium/Large S4=Large S5=XL S6=XXL
@@LucasGoncalves-sp5nh tanks man
@@LucasGoncalves-sp5nh I'm next to purchase this wonderful bike. In the bike shop the just have one left in s2. i'm 173cm aprox 5'8. It would fit to me or its too small?
@@Bigcargo77 i have exactly 173cm and using S2, Fits wonderfuly except in case of very long arms...
Hey does anyone know if the hub body/driver on this can be changed to an XD driver and therefore allow me to put on a Sram GX 10-50 in place of the NX 11-50 cassette?
Yes I believe it can, at least according to my bike shop
Or try e*thirteen
my new bike
its a commencal meta am 4.2
No way!!!!!
The front triangle looks... dated. We have kinda got used to those new frames where the top tube and the chainstay form one line (which means the top tube is visually connecting the head tube with the rear hub) - because it gives a really low standover and allows super-long dropper posts.
Otherwise a pretty decent bike!
Why do I get a road bike advert when I am watching an MTB video???
I have this bike as long u can hang on to the bars u should smash those trail like a rockstar
What do you mean by hold on to the bars
@@nikishabrokh3986 wow do u even ride mountain bike
Any modern geometry bike you can just hold on and the bike can do all the work. Its all about how good you are with the bike and how far you can push it.
Just saying since i personaly owned one👍
@@Jan07362 i own one too dawg smd
Great review but forget DH tyres and lighten up a little if you want to get to those hills you want to go down. The tyres are the grippiest I’ve ever ridden but have decided to go continental and save 450g in rolling weight alone. Transformed the bike completely. Lighten this bad boy and it’ll become all the bike you’ll ever need. Stick stupid 2.5” tyres on and you need to buy another bike!!
next bike
How about the wheels!?!? Kinda annoying that there wasn’t anything about them
I cant find this bike on any Specialized website. Someone help me out please!
It’s not out yet. Should begin to see it in specialized concept stores in a few weeks.
OpC SrL it’s been out for months. Just not on there website. In store only
My status broke after 1 week of use. The headtube is weak on the frame and bent out of spec after a few descents at Ucsc. Specialized only wanted to grant crash replacement warranty. Complete bullshit that they claim to provide lifetime warranty. 1 week long bike frame lifespan
certainly your frame had a problem in his fabrication process, its the only case i heard of a broken status, im 110kg riding very agressive, 4x times a week, racing, jumping e doing downhill laps, and my bike didnt even gets loose on the links (4 months of use)
I can’t even find one for sale lol I’ve been looking for one
Some bike shops will have them. The bike shop I work at predominantly sells specialized (and are also the only bikes we have right now) so that also may be a factor. We have been getting some the last week and a half
Hmm, propain spindrift is better and pedals also better and is more value
Buy a spectral 6! Its less expensive and has some better components
But I can't get Canyon in my country haha
Its a totally different kind of bike
jo. spnd not really, the spectral only has 27.5
@@moritza6970 pls go on the canyon website and then look at the angles of this bike. and also read about which purpose this bike has in the mind of canyon. then come back and tell me again that the main diffrence is the wheelsize. :)
jo. spnd sry, I didn‘t look at the angles...
Wow 16.3 kg sounds like a bike just for bike Parks, for long rides. Is a big. Nono
16.3kg is okay.
Do you seriously think one kg less would make you significantly faster?
This is a no bullshit robust workhorse of a bike. We need more of those.
You realise once you ad decent tyres to carbon enduro bikes they are still over 15kg. They are light from factory because they are all speced with super weak tyres
Steven Jalopnik , exactly! My 2020 enduro comp with the swat box full with spare tube, co2 canisters, another multi tool, dh and exo plus casing tyres and nukeproof pedals, tips the scale at 17kgs! Some ppl don’t get how quickly you can add weight 😅
"reliable as a tank"
20th century Germans: so its trash?
It woukd be greatnif it had the correct wheelsize
It looks like a yt jeffsey
It does actually
Don't insult yt
Matthieu Merlin I would have said it the other way around. I’m not a fan of any bike that can’t fit a bottle in the frame.
it looks like a polygon siskiu N series
@@chiefsosa7809 I'm not a fan of specialized and for me the design of this bike is wasted
Id rather spend a few hours more maintaining my bike than having ugly looking cables that are terrible to keep clean.
Its affordable*
*Has fox suspension
$2,600 is very affordable considering it has fox suspension, code brakes, and nx drivetrain
You got the rear wheel size wrong in the vid description "A rough and ready big hitter, the Specialized Status 160 comes set up standard in a mullet build: 29in front wheel and 29in rear wheel.". Can you send me a bike as a thank you for spotting this mistake please?!
R u okay mate?
Hi Martyn, thanks for spotting our mistake! it is actually a 29in front wheel and 650b rear wheel. Thanks for watching, from all at BikeRadar.
I was in a specialised shop yesterday looking for a bike pump and a guy was complaining is new 9k$ AUD specialised was making clicking noises.
Skiiiiip lol

Amazing review!! Im thinking on a giveaway;)
over 12 minutes and no mention of the price??? wtf is that, is br contractually not to mention the price??? by mentioning 'affordable repeatedly youre just part of the industry marketing machine
He mentioned it
Cool bike, but it looks a bit mainstream and boring
thats why its cheap. They propably saved some money in the design department
