I don’t really use any shoes I use my legs but u don’t use them I have a keyboard without a pedal and u might wonder why I am watching this, I just wanna check out the vid :P
When I have a recital, I try to wear shoes with a very thin sole (when I wear one that is not, I feel like I'm pressing the pedal all the time!) 😂😂😂. Congratulations for all your work, your content is amazing. 🖤
My daughters both play the piano and always practice in an oxford heel. There's something very mesmerising about watching the toe of their shoe going up and down on the pedal, using their stiletto heel as a pivot.
Great tips! I'm a socks man. When I was taking lessons I wore shoes, which I didn't like, but there was so much to think about at the lesson, that I got over it. Thanks for your instruction.
Hi I'm from Belgium. Great video, I only started the piano, so using the pedal often wrong. (Push to early, stop to quick, etc), but best feeling is with my slippers feeling it through the feet.
Hello! Can you make a content about using arm weight, wrist rotation, and some basic techniques when playing a piano? I think it will be a great content. Thank you!
I noticed you were using una corda with the sustain at the beginning of the video. This is something I do very often. I feel It makes it cleaner and more smooth. I also don't always press the pedal all the way down, but sort of halfway.
Anique, people always say that using your body while playing is the key of sounding good and make piano much easier, but, how do you use your body on the piano?
The most useful pedaling technique to me was one I learned in my freshman year of college: half-pedaling and flutter-pedaling. My teacher could flutter pedal so fast it looked like his foot had a continuous nervous twitch!
When I was in school, some of the ladies would use high heels, only because when the piano is on the roller, their foot couldn't reach well. The heels gave them better anchor against the floor.
Whenever I sew I always use the pedal backwards, so pressing down with my heel - and I’m so used to it now I wish I could do the same with the piano lol 😂
Hi Anique, what a beautiful video as always! Recently i was thinking about starting again with piano lessons, that i stopped 10 year ago. Do you think that is possibile, at 25 year to start playing piano again with decent results?
@@STANIS-LA-ROCHELLE their answer is bullshit. You can totally start again at 25 and get really good results. Even more so if you actually have a prior experience playing. Go for it, or you'll regret it later in your life
If you’re committed, you could be 60 and achieve decent results. People always argue that “brain stops developing at x age, muh wife son told me,” but the truth is that the brain stops developing late into your 20’s and neural pathways can still be changed for the rest of your life. Science says yes.
@@twenktwenk9562 Not true. Many of the pedal markings, even in the Urtext scores, were actually added by the 1st edition editor/publisher. Not Chopin himself.
Depends on what kind of sound you're looking for, as in your interpretation. Can either lift it right on the 3rd beat as your fingers sink into the keys to play the chord, or you could do legato pedalling (changing the pedal on the 1st beat after you play the low bass note while your finger is still holding on to the key).
I've always wanted to hear the Chopin octave etude with the pedal down inbetween every octave. The timing is ridiculous at that speed but I think it's possible.
When you will ever play a concert, here is a tip: practice beforehand with your concert shoes on. Otherwise is feels soo weird to play with shoes especially under stress

jellybean shoes 🦍🦍🦍🦍
Formal coat shoes
The high heels in the thumbnail are nice!!
Never ask a woman, her age.
Never ask a man, his salary.
Never ask a pianist, what the first and second pedals are supposed to do.
if you press the extreme pedals, you will get a screenshot
Lmao
Generality vs. speciality

Great tutorial, thank you. Every aspiring pianist should watch your videos.

not your foot." Annique
PS you're not stupid! You're wonderful and smart.
Thanks, the pedal has been a mystery to me.
As an organist i don't really care about this topic but i came to say that your shoes are cool
Pedal to the metal!
Thank you so much for these tips! I would love to interview you.

Do you need to do finger legato when the pedal is used
Thats very helpful ngl

I prefer no shoes. And I felt validated when I attended a concert by Alice Ott and she was barefoot!

Hi Annique ,
So what kind of pedal should use when I play the Chopin Waltz in A minor ?
Always when the next chord comes
Just look for pedal symbols in the sheet or watch a performance

I wear a sturdy sandals when using pedal.
1.76 is very tall!
is the opposite for me, i love wearing heels when using the pedals, is a lot easier to use them, but it could be that i'm 1.58 haha
the thumbnail 😂
I am 178cm and also get “stuck” underneath the piano on heals ☹️
Did you ever have problems with neighbors from practicing the piano in the evening ?
I tried playing the pedal by ear but kept banging my head.
I always practise with just socks on at home. But then whenever I'm somewhere else and sit down at a piano, it sounds weird, because of my shoes!
That thumbnail makes me feel physical pain in my right foot.
may we know your name pls? 🥰 thanx, Benjie from the Philippines. 🎹🎹
And ther're me, who play barefoot when I'm at home 😅😂
