Ich finde die Idee gut, den zweiten Fingern zu nutzen, um mehr Bewegungsfreiheit zu haben. Damit wird wahrscheinlich auch das Legato spielen schwieriger sein. Wie löst du das Problem?
Ich denke da funktioniert nur die Sprungtechnik, aber davon haben mir bis jetzt alle Lehrer abgeraten.

That third tip was next level. In 15+ years of piano tuition I have never been taught that technique.

@@anuar1978 Regardless of how old you are, you can still learn something from others. Even though I have played all my life, I did not have the benefit of great training early on, so I am still learning. I wish you the best.

Never would have thought of shifting my thumb to play the white key with the index finger on the black. Will have to practice it to get comfortable. But a great tip. Thanks.

My 62 year-old aching wrists cannot thank you enough, Annique. I've watched hundreds of videos on piano instruction and by far this lesson was the most important for me. Last year I foolishly took on the intro to Firth of Fifth, and now have lingering pain along my thumbs because of the issue you allude to at 4:40. Now I have to retrain myself to break the bad habits I've developed. Thank you again for this incredibly helpful video.
The 3rd trick blew my mind lol... This video made me realize why sometimes I'd have a hard time playing. I honestly didn't know that the elbow was involved. I'll be using these tricks in the future, thanks Ma'am
I’m was using that technic all the time. But I always thought it was bad technic. The most important thing about fingerings is try different ways to play something. Play it slow and very fast. Your hand will naturally do the right fingerings if you played for a while. If you are a beginner you have to learn all the awkward fingerings because your hand doesn’t know what is right
Nothing much ever came of the piano lessons I took in my youth. But the look on my mothers face when my teacher told her my "fingering left a lot to be desired", was worth the money alone.
As a mostly self taught pianist fingering is one of the hardest things for me. I never knew about any of these tips before, I didn't even know about the heart of the keys. This is very useful for me so thanks for making this :)
I've been playing the piano for 10 years and I've never heard about the heart of the keys. This is eye-opening. I sometimes naturally do the third technique because it feels more comfortable but seeing how it can be used to get more control of the keys is just fascinating. Thank you for sharing the tips!!

@@armannbrar4532 Just pieces of some songs. Like Queen's "Love of my life"and a few others. I can play small sections of Fur Elise and about a 6 other songs. I just love how relaxing piano music is and fun to practice.

I’ve discovered these three fingering tips on my own over time, but I never realized the importance of elbow positioning until I watched this vid. I will make sure to be mindful of my entire body from now and on when playing piano!

The third tip about switching the thumb and second finger on chords is GOLD !! - thanks a lot - I tried it on many chords and it's super easy to do and like you said it gives you better control.

Tip 3 is mind blowing. I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years! I am just playing on an electric stage piano and even then I can hear the difference in the tone. And thanks for the tip about giving the middle notes more voice.

I found your tips very usefull and thoughtfull. My first thought was "Why didn't I think of this, it's so simple". But on second thought it seems that we' ve been trained with do's and don't's and it's often that we stick to a rule simply by habit, forgetting that rules were made to make our life easier, not harder. Thanks for the motivation.
I have tried different fingerings for sections of many pieces I have played. Of your three tips I have heard of and tried to some extent the first tip to play in the heart of the key. The other two tips were new to me.

I’ve watched a lot of videos for learning piano, this first time watching one of your videos, I was glued because you explain how simple a little change came make playing more comfortable an more confidence while playing thank you so much 🙏🏼
I have a friend who adjust the length of his 2nd by playing on the phalanx in order to shorten his 2nd to the length of his 1st. In case the thumb is on a black key it helps also reaching the bottom of the keys with the 2nd. Super handy extra solution in such chords problem, specially if you don't have the time to pass the thumb down the 2nd.

Hi Annique! Bass, Mid-range, Treble are terms used by some here in America for the 3 keyboard 'zones'.- Thank you for the tips, but also for your honesty in the disclaimers at the start. In addition our hands change with age (and use). When I was 25 and re-visited repertoire I had played at age 13-15 I had to change fingerings. Now that I am 62 I have to change them again.
To be honest with you and the audience, I am organist; playing technique is totally different on organ. But I have listened and watched pianists all my lifetime, and it calls to my attention how piano playing has changed in the last years with pianists born 1980 onward. That's why I am interested in modern knowledge and points of view.

I heard of most tips. I admit that as an avid sightreader (professionally) I tend to favor fingerings that have easily “blind location”, which does end up using the more clunky ones (that imply more cramped body position). But the last tip blew my mind as well, I’ve never seen/considered that but I feel I will probably switch to that in a jiffy precisely because it might make sideways navigation actually more efficient. We’ll see. Thanks for the tip!
I've never heard of those tips. My teachers never tought me that and I can remember one of them complaining why no student has the common sense to choose some good fingering. Keep those kind of videos coming, much appreciated!
Brand new way of looking at fingerings. I've only spent time thinking about fingerings when it comes to runs, making sure they are smooth and leave me in a spot where I'm ready for what comes next. I've never thought much about fingerings when it comes to chords, it's just whatever feels the easiest. Thanks for the tips, I would never have thought about this.

Great video! I like the practical examples. I was playing chords using the 1-2-5 order instead of 2-1-5 as you suggested and it is in fact much better. Thanks for the tips! The word I've most often heard used for different ranges within an instrument's total range is "register", like "upper register", "middle register" and "lower register". I'm wrestling with the best fingering for an ornamental melodic figure used in jazz.

I am an absolute beginner; I got my keyboard just a couple of days ago and my left hand was twisted while playing that chord, going so uncomfortable totally, and I just watched you showing the exact chord with such fingering which is so fundamental and nobody teaches it for beginners about finger choreography. Thank you so much, I will always try to put my thumb in the middle in all such chords.

It's nice to see a video on the more technical aspects of playing. I haven't heard those particular tips before, but they do make sense. Will keep them in mind when I'm working on my next piece.
If I had to split the piano keyboard into three parts, I'd probably call them the upper/middle/lower "registers".
If I were to split it into two, then treble/bass "sections" would work well to describe them.
