I remember when I played as a kid i did the same thing, pushing it there pushes the whole gloves back into the palm of your hand. Would be a bad spot to put tar anyways since its usually... you know.. where the ball ends up when you catch it. It would be obvious after a few pitches since it would eventually coat the ball.

What I think he’s doing is rubbing the sweat/moisture off his fingers. The leather will dry it faster than cloth could
I used to do the same thing but I actually just liked touching the smooth part of my glove when my hands were together
I’m guessing touching it removes any moisture but keeps any tacky gunk or dirt you get from just being outside. Also keeps that glove a lil snug. I know one ha team we played was using a glove he said he spilled some cola in and was using it

The glove touching is likely compulsive and just a tick to help him stay focused....we all have them in one way or the other. I used to adjust my glove and hat alot after pitches, its a method for coping with the stress on the mound. Also, this guys pitches are gnarly as all hell...very cool.
