Deliberate attempt to injure. Ejection for coach for calling it, catcher for seconding and pitcher for throwing
I believe there was more to the story, like the catcher told the pitcher when he was off camera that he was supposed to aim for his side, not his head.
You can tell the catcher was ready , cause if anything if he wasn’t , it would have just been a wild pitch
Umpires are on a major TRIP this year. .. College and MLB
@@jamedlock83 nah throwing a pitch at someones head intentionally should get you tossed
@@jamedlock83 Idgaf if its 1 intentional pitch at his feet, if youre throwing at someone to hit them you 100% deserve to get tossed
Yeah, probably should have missed it and scolded the pitcher. So eject the coach for poor acting direction?
Just because the catcher has a good reflex doesn’t mean it’s intentional.
“If that happens, it happens right after the pitch.”
No. Absolutely not. Cooler heads prevail when it’s discussed first. This was absolutely the right call and a great job by the umpires of getting together and having the guts to eject all 3 of them.
Yup, you can brush a guy back to send a message without throwing at his head. That's bush league ball by all 3.
The umps are never right apparently. If they eject immediately it’s “that’s too quick you gotta get the umps together” but they do the right thing and they’re still getting criticized.
Ejecting all 3 is comically stupid
I can't believe the NCAA doesn't have a rule about removing your helmet before crossing home plate. That should be an out in my opinion.
@@lorddrewski how would that rule benefit the game?
Good work from the umps here. Hurt feelings shouldn't lead to a potential head injury.
oh yikes
Go watch little league.
@@bobbymayse9926 Kinda funny that you say that since you would have to have the emotional foundation of a toddler to let that level of taunting get to you. Potentially ruining someone's life over something that minor shouldn't even be thought of.
@@ShimoKuma It is baseball and that part of the game has always been there. So I take it you are new to the game. How do you throw 3 people out of the game for something that really didn't happen. He never hit anybody and it really wasn't that close. Next pitch please.
It was actually the same guy that taunted him 2 innings earlier and not the next batter in that inning.
"It should happen right after the pitch". . . it did tho😂 the ump didn't want to get criticized and called soft or egotistical or anything and figured safety in numbers, so he called a meeting. It's not like he waited till the end of the inning. He thought about it for a few seconds and then decided to discuss it with the others. He handled it perfectly.
The wild pitch happened two innings later, though. I think that's what he was trying to say.
@@PapaVanTwee5yeah two innings later when the same batter is up to bat…
@@LvLdGhost After finding another video with more of the conversation, it seems he was thinking if the ejection was going to come, it would be "right after" the pitch, not after a huddle for discussion. He was thinking they would issue a warning. To me it looks like he wouldn't have done anything if the Liberty coach/bench hadn't said something.
May look soft, but I actually support these ejections. There should be no tolerance in baseball to throw a fastball at a guys head intentionally, I don't care what they did to you previously. Only way to get it out of the sport is to eject people when it happens. Besides if the ump doesn't eject these guys the other team is just going to retaliate next inning and do the same thing to them and before you know it you got a brawl on your hands.
Then why not eject the guy who did the taunting and made the pitcher throw high to next batter.
I had no issues with batter running how he did and celebrated with his teammates however, but there’s no need to chirp at the opposing bench, you got the HR, you won….
@@Danjr704 Having your feelings hurt from verbal taunts and possible brain damage from a fastball are two different things, only one warrants an ejection
@@Danjr704 Yeah that's a decent point. The taunting is not cool either. My issue is that the retaliation of throwing the ball at the head is out of proportion. Theoretically if the MLB really wanted to take that stuff out of the sport they could eject or fine players for taunting, but then there's the risk of making the game void of emotion and stale. It becomes a question of where you draw the line.
Baseball is a little unlucky in that regard cause their only options for in-game discipline are to eject a player or not. NFL and NBA for example can enforce penalties and fouls midgames for unsportsmanlike conduct which is more reasonable and thus they can save their ejections for only severe violations.
You dont normally see the catcher ejected for this as well so this was a first for me!!
@@RaleyCreativeTravel it might be a new rule that if umps feel it’s retaliation the three of em go.
Obviously the catcher knew what was coming or that was going to be a wild pitch. Good job by the umps, it just would have escalated until someone got hurt.

I’m not a big baseball fan but if you look at the catchers mitt it did look like he was trying to be slick about it but was ready for an out of place ball by the timing of how he reacted to the pitch.
This should happen more often. This “unwritten rule” BS is dangerous and childish to be honest. This sport NEEDS a swift makeover in more ways like this example.
Stay on the keyboard…..it’s safer 😂
❄️❄️❄️
@Kerry Todd nah, cause time a hitter runs out there with the bat it's a problem now. Cause best believe I'm walking up with bad intentions. A pitch to my head? I gotta see you right then and there
There are literally just two rules: Don't taunt, and don't intentionally try to injure. (There used to be a third: don't overly celebrate, but that one is pretty much going away. As long as you are just celebrating your achievement and not rubbing it in anyone's face.) That's it. The pitcher should have thrown at the ribs. He does that and he's most likely still in the game. I guarantee you the batter knew he was going to get hit, and he was fine with it. If you can't learn two simple rules, then this game isn't for you. There is a reason for these rules, and it goes way back to the origin of the game.
@@kerrytodd3753 Lol. Trevor's knees would probably buckle on a curveball.
There is a video of Shane Victorino having a conversation with the catcher after they threw at his head. He visibly is telling him to throw at his side or back, not at his head.
If you're going to do it, don't jeopardize a man's career or even his life.
I was going to say that. If you're going to hit someone, you go for the back, not the head or legs
Yeah I remember watching that.
That was the 2008 NLCS vs the Dodgers. Victorino was hot, but composed. He pointed to his head. Then he pointed to his ribs as if saying "hit me here. Not up here (head)." The Dodgers likely felt the Phillies were going after them. With a pitch that went behind Manny Ramirez, and then Russell Martin getting hit a few times. So that was pretty much retaliation
or we can just strike him out and nobody gets hurt
Kevin Youkilis did the same thing in Toronto years ago...the only thing he was angry about was where he got hit - he just yelled "GET IT DOWN!"
Who cares, if it was suppose to be a body shot. There is literally no reason to purposely throw a ball at someone, besides the "unwritten rule" Imagine having such a huge ego that someone looked at your bench for less than a second deserves to be hit. How about you just pitch better so the homerun doesn't happen.
Lmaoo the Mountain Dew makes sense
I always find it so funny when teams decide they need to hit batters in retaliation to taunting.
"You showed us up in the game and then humiliated us? Now my feelings are hurt and I'm going to at best give you a little bruise or at worst hit you in the head to show you how much you hurt my feelings. We are already in bad spot because you made a good play, so now instead of trying to show you I'm good at the game and beat you back, I have to put another runner on base for you just to make sure you know I'm not happy. Bet you won't make me look bad anymore, now that I've shown you I'm so good and tough by giving you an ouchie in a scenario where you can't fight back."
Quit acting like a child and compete. If you don't want people to taunt you, play better
The men that play baseball are children level mature.......it's actually part of the game to not admit your wrong and just dig your heels in and go chest to chest.
Funny?
"You humiliated us out there. Let's humiliate ourselves even more by showing the type of poor losers we are"
I’ve played baseball for over 25 years. You win some, you lose some. Just play the game. If you get beat once, try to get revenge the right way. Show some grit! 😬

Good call umps, but the 2 liter come out of no where is absolutely hilarious.
The crowd roasting them well 🤣
That guy yelling in the stands was all over it.
Wooooooooooooooo!
I think the catcher must have said something after the pitch.
Not of catcher's typical stance but he was crouching on two feet for home run pitch and on a knee for throw at head. Maybe catcher's transition like that a lot. Or that made the ump think the catcher knew.
Forget the Gatorade, just bring the Mtn Dew.
NICE HIT!!! STAYED OVER THE BALL

At what point in sports do you go to jail for assault?
The POWER of "Dew"
Barney: "You've got to nip it in the bud!" 😅🤣😂
If you look at the pitch that was hit you will see the way the catcher normally is situated. For the head shot he has his right leg ready to push out to catch the missed head shot. It came out later that the ump did not originally call the foul until the catcher looked down to his left arm and said, " we'll get you next time". That's when the ump jumped in.
Homie was livid lmfao go take your power nap at the bus 😂
Good call. Look at catcher's stance on the homer, then his stance on the "wild", then his stance as he's setting up for the 2nd pitch. Catcher was anticipating the "wild" pitch.

Looking at it when the ball is halfway in flight the catcher was actually not ready for that pitch. Pitcher aimed right at the dude's head though, so he was in the wrong. Coach is probably pissed because he knows his catcher, an could clearly see how he had to react. Cause it looks like the ball could of gotten the ump too, but that may just be the angle. Ump needed a video review.

These kind of retaliation pitches should be immediate ejections. Sont want then to celebrate a home run? Dont let them get one off of you. Dont try to concuss them afterwards.
I’m just here to verify that is in fact a 2 liter of Mountain Dew
Love the ejections. I will never understand why it is ok for pitchers to intentionally bean batters. So what if the batter celebrates a home run. Pitchers celebrate stike outs. No?
They should’ve issued warnings. This was a lazy ejection by the umpiring crew.
@@max-xn3vt When you issue a warning, that means the "victim's" team gets players ejected for retaliating on that pitch.
Warnings are dumb and pointless. You can tell when dangerous pitches are intentional, because they have to be noticeably intentional to send the desired message. If you start ejecting pitcher/catcher/manager on intentional throwing at batter, it will end the practice quickly.
@@redvenomweb an 87mph pitch is not “dangerous”. The situation was not going to escalate after that pitch.
