    I might have your hard start solution. Saw a tip that worked on my YTS 4000. The choke cable housing is adjusted wrong from the factory such that you never have full choke. TRY THIS: Push your throttle/choke lever to full choke. Then loosen the choke cable clamp located under the carb to the right with a Torx bit (20 size i think). Push the cable housing as far to the left under the clamp as you can (will probably go about an quarter to half inch more). Retighten the clamp. You should now have full choke when you push the throttle leaver all the way forward. Mine starts right away now. Good luck with yours!

      Best guess is “Standard” because mine came with no attachments.
      The GT is Garden Tractor.
      The LT is Lawn tractor.
      It’s all about how beefy the frame is. Garden Tractors are the heaviest.
      Lawn tractors(or possibly “light”) are just for grass.
      My Yts can handle snow plowing and light pulling big old Buiks out of the Garage with brakes rusted shut.
      😂 had the drag marks to show for it.

    THE ULTIMATE SECRET...install a shut-off valve into the 1/4" fuel line, either before or after the fuel filter. OPERATION: When shutting down the mower after each use, do not turn off the ignition key. Leave the key on. Instead, to shut the mower off, turn off the shut-off valve on the fuel line. The engine will run until ALL of the gas has been used up within the carburator - and the engine will die. Now turn off the ignition key. EXPLANATION: Relying on the anti backfire/fuel solenoid on the carburator is the big problem. Gunked up gas always causes the solenoid to stick in the open or closed position. Gas that is left within the carburator will clog it up in just a few days. I have an old 1952 8n Ford Tractor. It originally came a gas shut-off valve. This is the old and superior design that works without causing problems. I struggled for years with these stupid problems. Each year, in October, I turn off my Craftsman & Cub Cadet mowers using this shut-off valve on the fuel line. Then, in March of the next year -- I turn-on the Shut-off valve -- and all the mowers start right up on the same gas used previously in the tank. The old farm tractors hold the secret. Today's engineers have bad ideas that cause stupid problems. Install fuel shut-off valves on every small engine that you have. They only cost a few dollars.

    • @AverageJoes4u
      @AverageJoes4u  2 года назад +1

      I agree. I've started spending the extra money to buy the non ethanol fuel in a can for the smaller stuff that doesn't get run as often. Add 1/4 + more water than the amount of gas (into the can). Shake the can to get the gas in contact with the ethanol in the gas and the water will "grab" all the ethanol and 'tie it up'. Let it settle for, oh, say, an hour or so and the water-ethanol will clearly settle to the bottom ** and the pure Gas will float on top.** Siphon off the all the water / Ethanol from the bottom and just the Non-Ethanol gas is left and ready to go.

    I bought my YT4000 with the 24HP Briggs & Stratton new back in about 2013 and I have not had any problems with it; always starts as long as the battery is good & strong. I never had any problems with the choke situation. I keep the oil changed every couple of years and of course keep the oil level good.... replace plugs if I think they need changing...keep air filter cleaned off after just about every mow on my about 2+ acres yard. I put on a new in-line gas filter a couple of years ago. Ya know...just the common sense maintenance stuff. After every mowing I blow off the blade deck, open the hood and blow off any built up dust & leaves & dirt. And of course keep blades sharp and replaced as necessary.
    One thing that I wish it had was a cutting depth setting half way between the numbers. Three is rather too close for my needs and four is almost a little too high. I'm not looking to have a "yard of the month" out here in rural America, so I just live with #4.
