Ah, the memories are coming back to me. I had so much fun with this game. This was the very first video game I ever played when I was 5 years old and It was a blast exploring new worlds, fighting different enemies...dying and falling into pits a million times. It was all just amazing. Some of you may think this game was simple and repetitive, but imagine being a 5 year old who's never played a video game before and tell me these boss battles wouldn't seem epic. This game holds sentimental value in my heart and I hope I never forget this one game that opened the door for this one person towards becoming a gamer. Spyro A Hero's Tail was awesome.

This game was so much fun, but the part with the giant spiders in the swamp terrified me so much I never even faced Gnasty.

For me It was those venus fly trap enemies because they could eat you and I had this irrational fear as a kid against anything that could eat me.

Gnasty gnorc sounded better in spyro 1 then here. He sounds like a little goblin while in ignited and original game, he sounds more like a muscular ogre.
What's up next? Perhaps remembering when Gnasty later became either first or final or semifinal or secret final boss of what would be an expansion pack for a new Spyro game? Ugh....
if you take an example of Dr. Neo Cortex from crash 1 - 3 and Wrath of cortex, he is the final boss, however in twinsanity he is the first boss.

Before the redesigns for reignited, Red was one of the only dragons that looked kind of like that in this series that I was super endeared to.
To be honest, I think Red is the best villian in the Spyro series. Ripto wasn't that intimidating, Dark Master was just one dimensional, and Kaos is just WTF for me. Eventhough Red only appeared in two games, at least they fleshed out his backstory and explained how he became evil. Also he kinda reminds me of Bowser for some reason

Oh wow, I never knew you could use firebreath to stop the ice balls. I always thought you had to use the wingshield for that.
The wing shield is easier, though, since it spares you the trouble of both dodging the ice balls, and switching to Water Breath later.
When I was younger and played this game, I called Ineptune Ursula.
You make the Red Boss Fight look easy! I can't tell you how many times I died before I found out I could melt those stupid ice attacks with my fire breath. LOL nice job not taking any hits. :)

It's a game wise guy. It's the way to defeat her. She spits poisonous water which tires her out, and Spyro gets a chance to attack her. There's always a code in the game..basically, that's what it is

Not really, just because they were both released in 2004 doesn't mean it's the Twinsanity of the Spyro series. Now if the plot was about Spyro and Ripto working together then yeah, I can see it being just like Twinsanity
I don't see how Crash Twinsanity and Spyro A Hero's Tail are similar.
I know that this was made for kids and thus a bit on the easy side but I swear that Red is the only boss that isn't disappointing. Although even he could be cheesed with wing shield spam. I also like that Red is the only one that doesn't say he was defeated three times like the others.
What this game needs: 2 more months of development time...
The bright side: Better then Enter the Dragon Fly...

Ripto wouldn't work in this game from a plot point. He hates dragons so there's no way he would be one of Red's cronies.
@BakuGod There's no proof he hates dragons, since when is it ever stated that Gnasty hates dragons on the same level as Ripto? He was just pissed off in the first game just cuz they called him ugly. He would've turned anyone into crystal dragon or not for calling him ugly. Also Gnasty is dumb in comparison to Ripto to that he would team up with anyone just to get revenge on someone not caring who or what the person he's teaming up with. Ripto wouldn't work for anyone.
I can tell you that one major thing pissed me off in this game. They swapped the run and flame buttons.
Spyro A Hero's Tail deserves a remastered version of it too it's one of my favorites and I like the boss fights and locations I like that we no longer have to use the portals too.
This game made my imagination flow... I have such really good memories, I played it for years!
Ah yes, the last classic spyro game before the big change in developer's. Right up there with Crash Twinsanity.
Only complaint, Spyro sounds drunk in this one. C'mon sony we need an HD remake of the first two!!!

I remember almost beating the first two games as a child too. Kept switching back and forth yet could never get past the final boss stage in the 2nd one. Course now I can just view those endings on youtube. :)

When I was a kid, I died a few times to him, but I never knew I could BREATHE most of his attacks away. So there. XD
A Heroes Tail is criminally underrated.
While it just Enter The Dragonfly but with an actual coat of paint, plus an extra layer and then one more just to be safe, it did take a lot of elements from the original trilogy as well as invented some new ones.
Was in Gateway To Glimmer? No. But after hooking my PS2 up and replaying the game, finally getting to the Icy Wildernesses after all these years... It might be my second favourite of the series.
enter the dragonfly had completely different areas, themes, bosses, mechanics, levels, level design as they’re more open in a hero’s tail and are interconnected as opposed to enter the dragonfly where they are accessible by a single hub, and characters. the only thing that is similar is the breaths which even then are still different and function differently and the wing sheild which has also been reworked. so may i ask what you’re smoking and where i can get it?
14:12-19:22 looking at the Red boss fight i didn't know using the flame breath attack can stop the shooting ice attacks he fires, I always use the wing sheild to defend (holding the triangle button) and the time boxes i did not know using the water breath pushes it furthur. And 17:18-17:28 you can actually use the wing sheild to defend that staff ice attack he uses to turn around and freeze u, u actually take 0/no damage from it.
Am I the only one who's noticed Mecha Red vaguely resembles a Gundam?

I love how the bosses sit there and do nothing while you kill them.

I do think this game is okay. It's not as good as the original trilogy, but it's better than Enter the Dragonfly which was too short and too glitchy.
TinyDrew5 Mine was somewhat glitchy. You know the farm realm? The tall skinny Dinos would just sit there sometimes and twitch. They required you to get close to realize that they are attacking.
TinyDrew5 The reason for that is that ETD was literally rushed to be released. It was supposed to be longer, but Universal wanted it to be released by winter or something, so they forced the game developers to hurry it along.

I actually like Spyro Enter The Dragonfly and I would love to see it get a remastered version of it.
You know here's something that needs to happen a new Spyro villain who actually succeeds in killing Spyro similar to Mephiles from Sonic 06 and this new Spyro villain would be a Hydra Dragon.
To be honest it be cool to see a Hydra Dragon Villain in The Spyro Series.

When I was 7, seeing Red turning like that into a Mecha, wow !
I was speechless and maybe scared because, you know, Red is a Dragon made of flesh and blood and *lightnings* he becomes a Dragon made of metal and stuff.
If not scary to you, you should at least have been impressed.

Fighting some orc Ogre-like in a cave
Some Mole guy
Some tiger/Cheetah guy
A penguin with a jetpack
Weird green things stealing eggs
A weird swamp place
All types of crystal things
A beach level with a mission where you had to save baby turtles in a turret
This is the very first video game I have any memory of playing

I used two boss themes from Spyro a hero’s tail for battling bosses from skylanders imaginators one for battling doomlamders, kaos and lost imaginite mines boss and another one for battling sea monster and giant guacamole monster.

Honestly I think this game was fun, tho I will say the bosses were kind of lackluster.
1) I don't like the fact that you fight Red in two worlds, I rather much perfored if that giant mammoth was a boss fight of the third world.
2) The final boss was a bit of a let down having to wait until Red returns to normal and use some weird objects is just plane stupid.
Wow, the voice acting and character motion design in this game (at least in the boss fights) is awful. I mean, in the first game, Gnasty, being a huge gnome orc hybrid, had a really deep voice. In this game, he sounds like a congested insane gnome. And Spyro sounds exhausted. These battles also look very long and repetitive.
VokunKendovJosh The strangest thing is that Gnasty Gnorc has the same voice actor he did in Spyro 1. Weird, huh? Must have been an issue with the voice direction or something.

+Magitek1112 Yeah, that is the strangest thing. In both games, the voice was done by Michael Gough, whom people may remember better as Gopher in most of the Winnie the Pooh franchise.
Meh, I thought spyro was ok.
Well keep in mind this: No matter what, spyro is always fighting evil, he doesn't get a break, that is why he is just tired and frustrated, and for Gnasty, he was chased, burned, beaten up by spyro in the first game, no wonder he returns as just a shadow of himself.

Also I always found Red's first battle harder than his robot version,

Man, I am dying to know what capture card you're using. I'm doing a playthrough of this game on my channel and, although it looks alright in 720p60, the res I upload my capture card recorded videos in (my PC recorded videos are in 1080p), it doesn't look as good as this, and because it's recorded on a PS2 it can't be HDMI (right?) so it should work with my GameCube, even if I need to buy an adapter. Thanks in advance! :)
for hdmi he's probably playing on the fat ps3 for backwards compatibility and recording it on that

At least they made Gnorc more 3 dimensional instead of Spyro 1 version of Gnorc where you just get the key, chase after him, flame his ass and then rinse and repeat until finished.
