As an Arena fan who prefers the floppy disk version over the CD version, I LOVE this revival. It feels so faithful to the original floppy disk version. It sounds like the exact instruments I imagined the floppy disk was trying to sound like.
Can I ask what you mean by that? As far as I’ve been able to find the two versions sound exactly alike, but I’ve not played them both so I could be wrong.
@@J-Cycle I could be mistaken as this was a bit before my time, but I believe the difference is actually based on the hardware within the computer rather than the disk format. I think both CD and Floppy Disk provided the option to run the audio via a Sound Blaster card, or a MIDI device, although the CD version added additional voice acting to the game. As such the two versions of the soundtrack are the Sound Blaster version and the MIDI version. If I'm not mistaken it is MIDI which more closely emulates actual instruments. Again, I could be way off on all this.
You want to get real sad? Eric Heberling stopped making video game music because he was hired to make music for slot machines and similar gambling crap.
I remember playing Arena when I was only a Child and I still love the Elder Scroll Series. I can only hope for an Elder Scrolls story that will rival the Song of Ice and Fire.
underrated game underrated soundtrack i will admit to liking daggerfall's soundtrack more but arena doesn't get the reconition it deserves in the words of mr peanut butter gamer "how could you call yourself a fan if haven't even played the first game?!"
_Ultima Forever_ is still being played today... (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsolescence) I am sure you can find a wrapper for _Ultima Online_ that gives the game modern-graphics...
Wow thanks! I just released an album “Cernunnos” back in November :) it’s on my channel and all my music is on streaming platforms. I appreciate your words a lot !
I love this version - sounds exactly like I remember that SB AWE32 version sounding. Funnily enough both Arena and the AWE32 were released in March, 1994 - coincidence? I think not!
You are a legend. Thanks for doing this, I often play Arena and Daggerfall tracks on my piano/synthesizer. Probably my favorite soundtracks of all time!
This is REALLY good! If there were to be a remake, this would have to be the soundtrack used! The sound of the anvil being hit in the equipment store is a very nice touch!
Oh, how I wish I had found this sooner! This is such a beautiful rendition of such a great and underrated soundtrack. As a huge fan of Arena, I cannot thank you enough for this beautiful and faithful recreation of such a nostalgic soundscape. Your take on Tharn's Betrayal had me awestruck! Keep doing what you're doing, it's perfect.
you have no idea how tempting it is to download all these tracks and integrate them into Morrowind for explore/dungeon/battle tracks, these tracks are sensational and youve done a killer job updating them
Oh wow this is absolutely amazing! I often hear the old elder scrolls soundtracks while developing games for the pure nostalgia of old-school games - and of course because the arena soundtrack is absolute gold - ... but this is just amazing! I know it may be a lot of work, but man would i love if you made a tribute for daggerfall as well! Awesome work, thank you for making this!
Daggerfall shares much of the OST and there is a daggerfall unity. So there it would be simple to mod, but would still leave about half the tracks untouched since this is Arena tracks only.
Do you have a download for these as individual files? I would be ever so grateful! I'd love to pop these in the music files for Oblivion. lol Replaying it again. :P
Best thing is: Eric Heberling is still alive and making music for Wayward Realms, working with a team of Daggerfall and Arena devs. Check it out! :)
I cannot wait for that game ! Amazing stuff

why? the floppy version is inferior
By the Nine Divines this is a spectacular masterpiece.
Did just you say nine divines?? Don't spew out such heretic nonsense!
@@voltharusmaximus2170 We are counting down to the fall of the Dominion soon enough!
so many good songs from the first two games. they need to be reincorporated back into the series.
Agreed
Bethesda didn't have to go as hard as they did with the blacksmith theme, but damn, it is epic. And this revival you've made has only made it more so.

I finished both Arena and Daggerfall. Both are great and underrated games, overshadowed by Skyrim and ESO..
I wish Bethesda would remake this game as a modern one. I know they said they won't, but I can wish. :)
well there is gonna be "beyond skyrim" its close enough

Snowing Day is PERFECT thank you for this
Snowing Day has always been my favorite apart of the OST
It’s great ! Love that track
Same! It's a magnificent song.
This is such a vibe! Very true to the source but with fresh depth. Great job!
Much appreciated!
Beautiful!
This is wonderful. Well done.

i'd love a remake of Arena with modern day graphics

Just updated the video description with a link to where you can download it for free! Cheers!
The files in your download link wont play in my VLC player
Not sure why, it must not align with the codec VLC requires. Which file type did you download from bandcamp? MP3? Wav?
@@chennessycomposer I realized I didn't see the option for file types. I understand my mistake now.
@@WearyWatcher No prob! Im glad it worked out for you!
The main theme for Arena sounds like it's a Conan theme. I kinda dig it.
Arena and Daggerfall both have soundtracks that remind me of the soundtrack to the live-action Conan the Adventurer series from the 90s.
Very nice work!
