Don't think I've ever heard of a developer releasing the full soundtrack on their official channel. So awesome, especially when it's such a sweet soundtrack.
other developers do it too but not many and its ridiculous imo. For example the devs of risk of rain did it, and valve also released the portal 2 ost for free.
Quack Quack I'm 6'2 230 lb of muscle, Ashley's voice in Spine brings tears to my eyes to how incredibly beautiful it sounds, and if it doesn't do the same to you. I'll make sure you have tears in your eyes for different reasons.
Just finished this *beautiful game* on PS4, and the ending is a shocker. 10/10 Recommend. I *love it when indie developers can even smash AAA titles out of the water.*
I loved this game so much it changed my view on science fiction. I like the more surrealist types of sci fi more than I did before (not that I didn't like it before).
The thing that makes a game soundtrack truly great is that you can easily listen to it outside the game and have it hold it's own against traditional albums - to have it resonate and bring back memories of moments of the game is truly a thing of wonder. Thankyou Supergiant Games, Darren Korb, Ashley Barrett and Logan Cunningham!
It is one of the best things about video games in my opinion. Some of the best music in the last 20 years have come outta video games. That and I guess movies. Pirates of the Caribbean, that is a good sound track!
I agree with you guys. Even my mum, whom isn't interested in video games said to me that this is a good piece of music. Good in game and outside the game for me.
He lost his body, she lost her voice. He became her voice, and she became his body. Can you ask for anything else more perfect to represent love? This game is amazing.

Airborne Interesting combat system. Great artwork. Awesome story that left me with a lot to think about. I picked it up for free on PSN so obviously I can't say if it is worth buying but it probably is with a summer sale. The only issue I see is lack of replay-ability, but the reason to keep playing that I am aware of is to experiment with all the abilities you earn.
Airborne I think this game is literally my favorite 'indie' game - period. It is a sum that is greater than its parts. The production (Graphics, artistic style, inspiration, music) is fantastic, but the mechanics are equally as immersive, with so many different combat possibilities that game quite honestly allows you to play it your way and find a strategy that works for you where many options exist. Finally the story is very interesting, and thought provoking - perhaps a little esoteric, but definitely deep. After Bastion, I payed full price for entry and did not regret it. Play it if you like action RPGs and/or SciFi in the vain of Cowboy Bebop, The Matrix, Blade Runner, or The Crow
Man, everytime I listen to just the first notes of "Old Friends" I get instant shivers along with this weird mix of nostalgia and melancholy. This soundtrack really resonated with me, it seems. I can't recall the amount of times I've listened to it and feels like I'm never gonna get tired of it. The game, along with the music, really had a big impact on me. Cheers to you, Supergiant Games! I'll tag along for all your other titles too.
I've never played this game, I just stumbled across this album - but seriously I get the nostalgic bit and idk why. I think there's something about the way the beat comes in and the bass that reminds me of music I used to listen to when I was miserable teen. For some reason Katatonia jumped into my head when I started listening to this, but idk what song I'm recalling
Old Friends just feels inherently nostalgic yet unfamiliar Like coming back to your old home town after many years and seeing how it and your Old Friends have changed When listening to it I often imagine a setting where Red is sitting in a bar by herself and doing some people watching
Haven't played Transistor yet, it's one of those games for me that I know I have to play but haven't gotten around to it. TB's arbitrary awards brought me over here and I can see why he spoke so highly of it.
Was never a huge "fan" of TB's content myself, but he did some very valuable stuff for the consumer over the years. Rest in peace you relatably cynical bastard. I honestly think a hole was left in the general "gaming community" when he passed. But he has forever been immortalised as one of the most used Twitch emotes, and if getting your face spammed thousands of times a second in front of millions of people isn't a solid legacy by itself, idk what is :^)
Blank canvas will always give me chills because of that God damn ending, and the fact that red was humming paper boats during it all in the game. I am so hyped for Pyre because God damn transistor was amazing
I love how the first song is named "old friends". Seven years later, coming here to listen to the soundtrack feels exactly like that, meeting an old friend.
"We highly recommend playing through the game before listening to the soundtrack" And what a great game it is. Sis is not a games person and when she saw the humming feature couldn't help but smile :D
God man, Supergiant's games are so elevated by their music. I've been playing games since I was 5 years old, and I can say with fair certainty that the boss fight against Sybil to 'In Circles' is just locked into my brain as one of the most memorable moments I've played in a game. I think its due to how Red sounds so regretful and vengeful. The fight is sad and bitter and a moment of triumph against a selfish person who genuinely cared for Red. The way the villains of Transistor accidentally doomed Cloudbank in their hubris is just a detail I love, it colors the whole story in this very human way. I always forget how awesome and emotionally complex the stories this studio creates are, and then another game comes out....
***** So, by your logic, if a book it's written on a computer, it's not art? An ilustrator uses a digital drawing pad is not an artist? Programming it's only half what the game is. textures, character models, music and script are made by human beings with creativity and artistry. People who draw sketches on paper, write story ideas on notebooks and jam with an instrument until something beautiful comes out of it. Art is art, regardless the tool you use to make it, in this case (mainly) a computer, or the medium you choose to expose it. Ergo, games can be art.
I've just noticed that this song is the perfect length. A single Period at my school is 72 minutes (1 hour and 12 minutes) and this song goes for 1 hours and almost 13 minutes. Bless the lord.
Woah. I just figured I was taking a peek at the soundtrack from someone loading the whole thing on here, as I sit here deciding whether or not to buy it along with the game. I didn't even see that it was the studio themselves. Neat! :D
Hey If you like Tactics/RPGs, like Final Fantasy Tactics or XCom, please check out www.kickstarter.com/projects/dreamlordsdigital/graywalkers-purgatory-turn-based-post-apocalyptic ; We have a playable combat demo; please let me know if you'd like to play/record it...
Never played the game either, but this soundtrack got me through my first HTML5/CSS3 class. I couldn't have been able to focus on my work without it. Also, Mirror's Edge OST, Shadow of the Colossus OST, and the Journey OST played a big part in helping me focus.
Ashley Barrett's voice makes me weep. Tears of joy, tears of deep sorrow. The world is a marvel, and for this voice to exist gives me hope. Thank you for sharing this precious gift with us.
so i was listening to the totalbiscuit arbitrary awards, and then got interested in the soundtrack award winner, so i came here and stopped listening to the awards, and i'm not sure i'l finish the video today, this is so good
I've been coming back to this soundtrack as well as the Metal Gear Rising ost for quite a while, I'd suggest skipping forward to 49:53 for what you'd call the highlight of the soundtrack, We All become, that or Paper Boats are both amazing songs in their own right. The instrumental songs are great as well tbh, great for studying or grinding :P
Game was free on the PS4 for PS+. I got it. Love the game. Really interesting and offers various challanges, gripping storyline, and some parts that just make you weep. I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who hasn't tried it.
Same. This game is amazing, with the only soundtrack I have ever gawped in awe at. Too bad it didn't do better, can't believe destiny beat it in the game awards:(
People have their own tastes in games, and unfortunately, advertisement and marketing play a huge role in stuff like that. I personally have never even played Destiny, but I'm sure it has it's enjoyable things, like any game. My personal favorite song is The Spine.
Trust me, Destiny comes no where near to this masterpiece, but yeah it sucks that this game did worse because of advertisement and all of that kind of stuff. It saddens me that most of the gaming community don't want innovation (*Call of Duty*)
happy toe Indeed if destiny wasn't so OVERLY advertised and blown up to the point everyone created godly expectations that the game couldn't hope to live up to. People would be able to appreciate the raw experience without dissatisfaction. Fact was the promo's for destiny had more appeal than the actual game to many people.
The lore cards are more interesting than the game itself... everything about it was gutted and you can tell after the very first stage. Yeah we expected more from destiny and everyone got shafted... hopefully the sequel fixes this or there might be riots
@@lunchables5094 I agree that it's convenient, but being a primarily mobile user myself, I just don't find it *that* much more convenient. To each their own, I guess.
Man, its been five years since I played Transistor but Old Friends and The Spine still make my heart falter. That to me is the power that can come from a developer that knows how to craft experience.
It's ashame how underrated and short this game is. They really need to make a sequel to this, in the very least make another game keeping the same combat style. As that alone made the game a blast to play.
Gotohellcadz SPOILERS: But didn't she kill her self at the end to put herself in the Transistor and be with the guy?Gonna take one hell of a twist to make a sequel work.Rather they just make a new game with a similar combat system like you said.
Bought this game 6 months ago or so and finally played it after watching the Hades documentary. I can't believe the quality in every aspect of Transistor, but especially in the art and music. The writing has also been really fun! Please restock the poster for this game on your store!
this game is the start of something beautiful. whenever i search for new games to play i always look for the most unique interesting ideas that immerses and engulfs you into a whole new world.something that the creator has pored there imagination and passion into to give us the players something truly wonderful to not only play, but to feel . and such outstanding games which have the perfect combination of art style, soundtrack, and characters you can relate and share a bond with , are truly a masterpiece and the bridge for indie game designers to step forward, take inspiration, and continue the bright path forward.
Is it weird that I listen to this (and the extended version) for pretty much every situation? I listen to this in the car, on the bus, doing schoolwork, or just general background noise when I'm wandering the internet, drawing, or just chilling like I've (literally) memorized what piece comes after the other as well as the general tune for the hummed version I think I have a problem here
Not at all, that's the kind of thing good music should get out of someone, and honestly, I think the idea that video game music is somehow less valid than regular music is a load of bunk and this among other wonderful pieces we get exposed to is undeniable proof of that, but I suppose I'm not a musically gifted sort so the most I know of it is what I like, but anyway. For me this is music I like to listen to when I'm feeling particularly downbeat, either I've had one of those days at work or I'm just for whatever reason feeling kinda down. I remember one time when I was feeling particularly lonely and I got my whiskey on, I was listening to this and when Paper Boats came on I just broke down HARD, I was sobbing something fierce, it was really quite a pathetic display, can't think of any other time music has ever had such an effect on me, sure I've been choked up by music before but never like this. So honestly, if you have a problem, then I have an even bigger one, hope that reassures you =p
princessthyemis Nooooooooooo... that sucks... I've done that for some songs as well. Especially the ones that have an association with real events or a time period.
+E Lee I wouldn't consider it weird, but then I've done the same thing with the approximately 2 1/2 hour long soundtracks of both FF8 and FF9 soooo... take that with a grain of salt.
+E Lee for Fallout 4 I turned the in game background music down and played this instead, fits in really well. But ya to your point this music lets you "think" and is not overly detracting. Almost mechanical in how it is repetitive but does not repeat a chorus.
The reason I loved this game to bits was because of the overall feel of the game. Its was a strange combination of languid and hopeless (with a city in shambles and the protagonist losing her voice) yet overwhelmingly peaceful and, and... hopeful! haha I felt very immersed in the game and thats why I loved it so much. Props.
I played it during January university holidays back in 2015. This game makes me feel the winter chill and remember how the sun shone in winter mornings. So inspiring. The game is a masterpiece.
***** I do read, believe it or not. Would 67 extra damage from the overkill kill 93 new bad cells? I doubt it. I admit, I didn't take the time to calculate how much damage Bounce() + Spark() X 10 would do, but it would probably be enough.
Every time I get back here, I realize. The soundtrack itself is nothing earth shattering. The gameplay is fun, but nothing groundbreaking. The story, while not that often used is not new either. The characters are not overly deep and can be summed up in a few words. Yet the story makes the simple characters shine. The characters give meaning and emotional depth to the soundtrack. The soundtrack makes the gameplay more engaging. The gameplay paces the story just perfect. All in all, despite consisting of merely above avarage components, the way they are weaved together makes the game exceptional. While I like to refrain from making such statements openly, I do think that Transistor is masterfully put together.
TwiggyWan Kenobi It's not exclusively above avarage... The music and story can be considered above avarage. The gameplay is pretty avarage and the characters, I'd venture as far as to say were below avarage.
+OzixiThrill The story is actually *really* groundbreaking, if you take the time to "smell the roses" (aka pick up most of the little hints and bits here and there) and think about it. The main themes of the game seem to be how and if "true" change/progress can be achieved when everything recurs aka "goes in circles" - and, to a lesser extent, what it means to be "human" in a digital society/world.
Nr4747 Which is groundbreaking how exactly? It is far from the first game, (not to mention other media) to tug on the concept of what it means to be human, in any enviroment, really. The events that try to evoke these thoughts are ones that don't take insane levels of imagination to come up with. So, again, I ask - How exactly do you think that Transistor's story is groundbreaking?
This game is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!! I LOVE the storyline and the artwork is OUT OF THIS WORLD. You actually feel bad for her "Red" and the "sword". There is this lonely feeling in the world and it kind of makes me feel we're set in the future where outside is scorched by the sun or the sun doesn't exist anymore so they turned a city into a bubble and created a false sky. People tried to live like they once did but crazy shit happens. It's not a hack and slash bloody game so don't waste your time if you're looking for blood. This game is a special type. I thoroughly enjoyed this style of gaming and hope they come out with more.
People call me crazy when i say this was the best game ever, the sound track alone would demolish any triple A game. Let alone the immersion of its story can only be described as perfection. I want to play this till the end of time.
Just from a personal standpoint I prefer Bastion over Transistor, but both are absolutely amazing. Great OSTs, so beautiful, and worlds I wish I could get lost in. Love both of them.
I know this is a 6 year old comment but one of my favourite game is library of ruina it has everything greatly made The gameplay? Amazing Thz soundrack? Outsanding The story an characters ? Absolutly well worked on So yea i give it a 9/10 would recomend
Transistor's soundtrack has a lovely lounge style with techno/drum & bass hints blended into it. This attention to atmosphere makes the game ever so more enjoyable to play when the beautiful tones of Ashley Barrett's voice soothe your eardrums while you bash a whole manner of nasty little processes with your USB (c'mon, you know it looks like one) sword. All in all, this soundtrack suits the mood and architecture of the game and makes the game insanely good!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I can't really afford a new game at this time, but Transistor is on my shortlist and once I buy it it'll have to be with the soundtrack! Keep on being awesome, Supergiant!
This game is forever embedded in my brain as a sunny winter morning game.I almost feel the same chill air when I first tried the game back in 2015. Got it for Christmas and that January is forever in my soul!
This is probably my 30th time listening to this soundtrack from start to finish, I even have found myself muting certain games music in favor of letting this soundtrack play instead! :3 Darren Korb you musical genius, thank you for another piece of art!!!
Simply elegant. Ashley Barrett’s work is amazing, so glad they found each other with Darren and SG. So far, this goes to my the most favourite female voices in games along with Laura Bailey, will never get tired of hearing the voice.
Just a heads up to anyone listening to this, listening to the soundtrack online doesn't do the game justice, it gets way better in the game. The music actually changes in the game, it changes depending on a few things. Like in a battle against a boss "In Circles " changes and in the end sounds very much different to the track that began playing originally, it's pretty damn awesome.
the music ingame has 3 versions - background music (mostly what u hear here just without lyrics), combat music (in 'turn' mode, which is silent) and when Red hums the music (pressing tab while ingame) which also creates a majestic glowy effect and a projector on red. theres also some cutscenes in which u hear some of the lyrics but its usually short versions
I hear you buzzing, a fly on the wall In through the window and up through the hall Flying in circles just trying to land I see you hurting, I do what I can But I won't save you I won't save you Maybe you're looking for someone to blame Fighting for air while you circle the drain Never be sorry for your little time It's not when you get there, it's always the climb But I won't save you I won't save you I won't save you I won't save you
Transistor is their best game but that's saying a lot because every game they've made is amazing. Transistor is just such a unique little gem of a game.
I don't know man, transistor mechanis feel way too weird but i love the experimentation, I love the all the little details, the description in every person, how u need to use them in different spots to remember learn more about then, but at the same time, this people are of 0 real interest to the player (beside the camarada) and we only get a dialogue the first time we get then, the ost in both are amazing and work amazingly well whit the narrative, but bastion uses his 4 main characters so well, love, hate, xenophobia, betrayal, cold war. From a total perspective bastion is the better game for a bit.
@@zakaria653 Good list. I haven't played Hades yet but my ranking of the three I have played would be Transistor for gameplay, Pyre for story, and Bastion is a tough one. I was going to say art direction but then I remembered Pyre is drop dead gorgeous as well. I love them all though.
@@zakaria653 I'll most likely wait but I'm really looking forward to playing it. And hahaha hell yeah! She's great. Pretty sure yours is Majima? He's awesome. I love the Yakuza games.
I hadn't played Bastion to its entirety before Transistor released. I have now, and I have to say Supergiant Games are one of my favorite game developers ever. I know you guys probably don't read this channel's comments, or that it's handled by a representative or something, but I just want to say: It is a great sign of how *cool* you guys are for just making the soundtrack available to listen to here on RUclips, which pretty much assured the purchase of the soundtrack itself for me. It shows how much you want to actually share your work. Thanks, guys. Your game struck a very personal chord with me, and I'll never forget it. I hope it becomes a gigantic hit, even bigger than it already is, and that you guys get all the praise and attention you deserve.
I discovered Supergiant Games thanks to Hades, and now I'm thinking about buying and playing all their games. If a game has a beautiful soundtrack, then even without seeing any gameplay, you can be absolutly sure the game is amazing. And all Supergiant's games have beautiful soundtracks.
We all live in a sandbox, an accumulation of satisfying shocks, in our brain . we strife for happiness in vain, a struggle a fight, to fly free as a kite , free from chains . yet it flows in our veins, the struggle the fight, never seeing the light.
Thank you, dear Supergiant games for Transistor and for your other games! You are awesome! Special thanks to Ashley Barret and Darren Korb for an awesome music. With love from gamers!
My ear balls have been binging on this amazing sound track as well as the extended addition for the last two weeks now and I don't see myself stopping any time soon, LOVE humming to this, just beautiful.
what do you think of the statement art is in the eye of the beholder? Isent art something more personal, if it opens your mind, amazes you, makes you feel, is it art? and doesnt that differ from person to Person? just how I used to think about art
Art is technically what our eyes pass to our brians, since it's basically just a collection of colours, sounds etc. and we just have a habbit of connecting those to a certian feeling. So either you say art still exists for ourselfes even when we don't see it (hearing a tree fall) in which case: Art is everywhere or nowhere. Or we ourself have just as much part in making a painting, art as the artist. Placebo pills have a succes rate of about 40%. Our mind is doing some work and what we believe to be, has a good chance of actually existing.
Daily dose of internet asked what game had the best loading screen music and it reminded me of this game. Been so long since I played but the music is sooo dope. Gonna listen to it while I study tonight and keep it in my saved vids.
It's been four years now since I played Transistor. And yet it has not only helped me write a whole 10 episode podcast, but I still listen to it today.
That moment when most of the soundtrack doesn't even need Ashley Barrett's voice to be amazing. (Though she still kicks ass in The Spine and In Circles.)
Maybe because they already won so much from Bastion. Maybe the ppl deciding Game Awards don't want Supergiant to become spoiled by some superiority attitude.
Admittedly, im no musical expert plus ive never played the game more than an hour in, the music is immediately apparent, both thematic, genre blending (the string work is good, i think classical orchestration exactness). An incredible production. The vocal pieces with Ashley are "breathtaking" level of beauty. Props to Korb. He's damn good.
To Supergiant Games: Thank you so much for putting this soundtrack out here! Transistor has fantastic music, I'm so glad I bought the soundtrack with the game.
I played this game solely based on the sound track. Then ending made me cry. It was a wonderful story with an amazing soundtrack. I'm bummed that I didn't realize I could listen to red hum during the game. There are hummed versions of all of her songs. You can just press a button and listen to her, just like having her do little tricks with the transistor.
I think The Spine song would've been fantastic *during* the Spine fight. The absolute chaos of the battle would've made an interesting fit with the calm edge of the song. Even though what they used worked really well to amplify the panic, I think the emotional battle between cool, collected, and absolutely terrified would've been pretty neat.
I just finished this game after playing it in the afternoon for three days straight. I had to look up the soundtrack to listen to it again, agh it's so amazing. I'm still really upset about the ending though... Gods, I literally cried. This was an amazing game, I wish there was more than what was given.
How beautiful this game was. I finished the game a few years ago, so I stopped playing it, but when I heard all this music, I can't feel anything but nostalgia and the desire to play it again.
This is a soundtrack up there on the board with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and other amazingly composed soundtracks in my opinion. And the game it's attached to is amazing as well, and the soundtrack fits perfectly with the mood. You guys keep this up, and you're gonna be huge. Mark my word.
Human Revolution's soundtrack was good, but not THAT good. It's great ambience, but nothing as developed as this. Its songs don't even have properly developing structures, but rather just jump straight into the mood they want to create. Transistor on the other hand offers developing songs that increase the depth of the mood/s its trying to convey as the songs go on, thus adding more depth to the overall atmosphere. Plus melodically they're much deeper, especially with some interesting chord progressions and changing time signatures.
+Auxin relari Haha those are literally all my least favorites except for We All Become and Interlace xD I'm not judging, but I think it's kind of funny
The amount of diversity in this track is so impressive. The blending of classical instrumental from around the world with modern synthetic is just flawless. I imagine that the scenarios these tracks were designed for would have coincided excellently. Never played the game, even after years of listening to this soundtrack. The vocal work of Ashley Barrett also complement the instrumental well. I would prefer the soundtrack without her voice, though it is beautiful. I have high respect for the musician in this track, because I see this as what music should be. It should be capable of telling a story and painting a picture in one's imagination, without visual or vocal aid. Anyways, just magnificent, Supergiant Games. I hope whatever you make next has this same level of awesomeness and production quality. Just bliss to my ears.

Airborne And the music is *fucking* amazing... Same with Bastion, Supergiant games' music is just awesome.
G Money agreed, this game is def a masterpiece.
Once again Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett have left me feeling blown away.
Skip to 1:08:21 for my favourite...
Old friends was my jam when i was younger lol, so definitely nostalgic for me. Watching the trailer for the first time blew me away.
be sure to play pyre ;)
Old Friends just feels inherently nostalgic yet unfamiliar
Like coming back to your old home town after many years and seeing how it and your Old Friends have changed
When listening to it I often imagine a setting where Red is sitting in a bar by herself and doing some people watching
This is my favorite video game OST of all time, and I feel like that's saying a lot.
Haven't played Transistor yet, it's one of those games for me that I know I have to play but haven't gotten around to it. TB's arbitrary awards brought me over here and I can see why he spoke so highly of it.
Yo cray
If you still haven't managed to play it yet I'd say to definitely give it a go, it feels like its going to stand the test of time tbh.
This comment is 5 years ago, I assume he has already played this beautiful game
R.I.P. TB .... You are sorely missed.
I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pyre was awesome the soundtrack of transistor is still the best though
You know what's really gonna bake your noodle? The blank canvas is the paper that Red made boats out of.

The Spine sounds like it could have easily been an opening song for a Bond movie. One of my favs
Yes please, I didn't know which song it was I was looking for, but it was The Spine.]
"Games can't be art" my ass
And what moron is saying that? Video games are the ultimate artform.
play Firewatch.
Play this.
and, when it comes out in August, play No Man's Sky.
+toastman444 What makes you think that things on a computer can't be art?

Too early to say this and... who the fuck am I kidding? Supergiant Art and Music departments are the best.
well it is certainly on par with the Child of Light soundtrack
Best game of 2014!
OddANDThinking You got that fuckin right.

Supergiant is so cool. I really like that they made their soundtrack available like this. I will still give them my money for it =)
Woah. I just figured I was taking a peek at the soundtrack from someone loading the whole thing on here, as I sit here deciding whether or not to buy it along with the game. I didn't even see that it was the studio themselves. Neat! :D
Yureina Sf Buy it. It's a nobrainer, trust me. And then also buy Bastion.

I didn't even play the game but I love the soundtrack !
Play it, the game has a very good combat system and story.
...and voice acting, theme, art, just a charming game.
This soundtrack became the part of my life and I didn't even play the game.
Never played the game either, but this soundtrack got me through my first HTML5/CSS3 class. I couldn't have been able to focus on my work without it. Also, Mirror's Edge OST, Shadow of the Colossus OST, and the Journey OST played a big part in helping me focus.

Same man, this music is so chill now I gotta buy the game and OST with it for sure
It saddens me that most of the gaming community don't want innovation
(*Call of Duty*)
happy toe Indeed if destiny wasn't so OVERLY advertised and blown up to the point everyone created godly expectations that the game couldn't hope to live up to.

OMG Life is Strange!!! That game is one of my favorites, along with Transistor!!! :D :D
Happy birthday, Transistor! 10 years, still amazing memories of the game.
Man, its been five years since I played Transistor but Old Friends and The Spine still make my heart falter.
That to me is the power that can come from a developer that knows how to craft experience.
They seem the have created a new genre "Industrial Jazz"
Cyber-noir-jazz
The first track is like a blend of Radiohead and Massive Attack, and those are two of my favorite bands.
I think it's a jazzy post-rock :) But in all cases, that's really great !
It's definitely post-rock
Meh, if you listen to massiv attack and portishead, they are categorised as "Trip-Hop", and this is pretty close to what those bands do
Still such a good ost after almost 10 years insane
It's ashame how underrated and short this game is. They really need to make a sequel to this, in the very least make another game keeping the same combat style. As that alone made the game a blast to play.
Gotohellcadz
SPOILERS:
But didn't she kill her self at the end to put herself in the Transistor and be with the guy?Gonna take one hell of a twist to make a sequel work.Rather they just make a new game with a similar combat system like you said.
Gotohellcadz No need for a sequel. Bastion didn't need one either
Gotohellcadz Sequel? No. A new whole game by SG? Yes.
And that they're both FANTASTIC

this game is the start of something beautiful. whenever i search for new games to play i always look for the most unique interesting ideas that immerses and engulfs you into a whole new world.something that the creator has pored there imagination and passion into to give us the players something truly wonderful to not only play, but to feel . and such outstanding games which have the perfect combination of art style, soundtrack, and characters you can relate and share a bond with , are truly a masterpiece and the bridge for indie game designers to step forward, take inspiration, and continue the bright path forward.
Is it weird that I listen to this (and the extended version) for pretty much every situation? I listen to this in the car, on the bus, doing schoolwork, or just general background noise when I'm wandering the internet, drawing, or just chilling like I've (literally) memorized what piece comes after the other as well as the general tune for the hummed version
I think I have a problem here
Not at all, that's the kind of thing good music should get out of someone, and honestly, I think the idea that video game music is somehow less valid than regular music is a load of bunk and this among other wonderful pieces we get exposed to is undeniable proof of that, but I suppose I'm not a musically gifted sort so the most I know of it is what I like, but anyway.
+E Lee Just be careful not to overdo it to the extent where you then hate it for years to come. I've accidentally done that.
princessthyemis Nooooooooooo... that sucks...

This soundtrack is godlike. Supergiant should sell prints of some of the game art. I would kill someone for a print of the loading screen.
I think they sell some prints.
Bradley Hayes The prints they do sell are really cool, but I feel like the game backgrounds would work really well as prints.
judging from your profile pic (the cover art from Bonobo) you must have enjoyed this soundtrack a lot
Justyn Lim Yup, excellent soundtrack! Only issue I have is that I won't work on spotify. Might just be me though.
+OzixiThrill exactly, Transistor consists *only* of above average elements, and if you think about it, there isn't a lot of games like that.
TwiggyWan Kenobi It's not exclusively above avarage... The music and story can be considered above avarage. The gameplay is pretty avarage and the characters, I'd venture as far as to say were below avarage.
it's up to how you felt about both gameplay and story then. From my games experience it definitely stood apart.
Oh the nostalgic feels come rushing back
SAME
This game is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!
Just wait until you see the ending.

Actually, I think they didn't. I feel Bastion OST is superior.
Every morning I drink a cup of coffee and listen this album, it gives me life.
Yeah, the music here is pretty dang good, but it was made for the game and when you play the game with the music, it's so amazing and beautiful!
Dynamic music~? Does it work sort of the way Banjo Kazooie did?
the music ingame has 3 versions - background music (mostly what u hear here just without lyrics), combat music (in 'turn' mode, which is silent) and when Red hums the music (pressing tab while ingame) which also creates a majestic glowy effect and a projector on red. theres also some cutscenes in which u hear some of the lyrics but its usually short versions
Sandwhale Gaming I couldn't really tell you as I have no experience with Banjo Kazooie. And yes I understand that I need to go and play it ;)
As long as you have that understanding, I won't reprimand you for not having played it. ;P
I hear you buzzing, a fly on the wall
In through the window and up through the hall
Flying in circles just trying to land
I see you hurting, I do what I can
But I won't save you
I won't save you
Maybe you're looking for someone to blame
Fighting for air while you circle the drain
Never be sorry for your little time
It's not when you get there, it's always the climb
But I won't save you
I won't save you
I won't save you
I won't save you
Am i the only one who liked transistor better than bastion? both are great games but i'm leaning towards transistor.
In terms of gameplay? Bastion. I simply feel more capable and I'm far better at it. Transitor has a more interesting story

Beautifully done. Молодцы.

With love from gamers!
My ear balls have been binging on this amazing sound track as well as the extended addition for the last two weeks now and I don't see myself stopping any time soon, LOVE humming to this, just beautiful.
After listening to Ed Harrison's NeoTokyo OST, I scoured the internet for like, days to find something similar. Transistor is a unique, amazing OST.
I remember watching the trailer for this and it had Old Friends playing in the background. It was fucking magical.
Either everything is art or nothing is. So art doesn't exist, or is everywhere. Made it easy for everyone's consumptive pleasure.
Is that you Marcel Duchamp?!
But seriously I have the exakt same opinion, it surprises me that same think otherwise.
what do you think of the statement art is in the eye of the beholder?
This is so obvious it hurts to read it.
+Jackies stories Cringe
Daily dose of internet asked what game had the best loading screen music and it reminded me of this game. Been so long since I played but the music is sooo dope. Gonna listen to it while I study tonight and keep it in my saved vids.
It's been four years now since I played Transistor. And yet it has not only helped me write a whole 10 episode podcast, but I still listen to it today.
That moment when most of the soundtrack doesn't even need Ashley Barrett's voice to be amazing. (Though she still kicks ass in The Spine and In Circles.)
Spi~ne of the wor~ld
Can't stop loving.
This lost to Destiny in the recent Game Awards. Why?
Because Destiny's soundtrack is just as epic?
Matt Talsma
Nope...
Matt Talsma lol
Maybe because they already won so much from Bastion. Maybe the ppl deciding Game Awards don't want Supergiant to become spoiled by some superiority attitude.
Because one game is more popular.
This soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous, I love it so much...
Out of every Supergiant game, this one has resonated with me by far the most. The soundtrack brings me back. Thank you Supergiant and Korb
Transistor and Bastion have the best soundtracks I have ever heard, although I haven't yet played Transistor. Seems really good though.
I just bought it 1 hour ago and it is AMAZING, it's on sale on gog.com too right now
you guys also gotta check out Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori is so good, I usually take the offense path with a little bit in the defense (middle) and support.
Just thought I would ask have you played it yet and what did you think of it, also how did you feel about the ending?
Assuming that you are speaking to me, I have not played it yet seeing as I can't find any places to download it on the computer.
Vanishing Point
The Spine
Interlace
We All Become
Forecast
Paper Boats
In Circle
Auxin relari emmm old friends
+Auxin relari Haha those are literally all my least favorites except for We All Become and Interlace xD I'm not judging, but I think it's kind of funny
Imo Impossible is the best instrumental one
Thanks for uploading this, Supergiant folks. You crafted an amazing game that moved me more than any AAA title has in years.
This game was quite the experience. Thank you so much for creating it.
Wow this soundtrack is amazing. Thinking about buying the game on christmas sale.
YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS GAAAME !!!
Do it. 100% worth it.
Play it! It's an experience of a life time.
Yeah it's about 3 dollars now
i had a huge dillema but i eventually ended up buying it. main reason: ost
This game just exudes class, composure, and subtlety.
As someone who usually pirates OSTs I have to admit this soundtrack was so amazing I bought it was worth ever cent and I wish I couldve paid more
cant we get more of this? Ashley again and metal remix any one?
i used to hear this album back from work in the subway, 10y later im here
The amount of diversity in this track is so impressive.
