Me too! This song is so emotional... In due time, you wil deliver this lyrics to Orpheus and he wil play in the room (near the contractor). It's even more beautiful!
I remember listening to ancient Greek music, a long time ago. And I remember reading mythology avidly. And then 15 years later I stumbled on Hades. Everything was so accurately Greek, but just a bit distorted, finely put together in the form of a game. But then, I remember thinking a game cannot reach the same levels as the mythological lore they get inspired from. I was so wrong. The game is so deep, so beautiful, it has so much content. The graphics and the music are so amazing... The roguelite mechanics make the narration so great... I never thought the true spirit of mythology would sprout out again in a video game! But it's still so fresh and modern! You guys have really done the greatest job imaginable, I haven't been impressed like that in quite a while... Thank you, Supergiant, you guys are legends.
I agree, it's a wonderfully human re-telling of a lot of the mythos, they really knocked it out of the park in marrying gameplay and narrative. I still get a rush of adolescent "yeah up yours, Dad" whenever I clear a run. As much as he's a little shit, Zagreus is a fun character to relate to.
When I first heard Eurydice I think I just sat there in awe of how beautiful the song was. Hearing Orpheus in the court made me a a believer as to why he was chosen to perform for the gods themselves. The music that plays with Zagreus mother brought me tears. This game is not really a game to me, but rather an interactive novel nothing short of a masterpiece.
Not only is this a masterpiece of a game but the music is so emotive as well Also I loved that the first time I heard Orpheus sing in the court I was able to immediately think "the two-part of this song when they're together is gonna be a masterpiece" Also the beginning of "God of the Dead" always sends a chill running up my spine as I get ready to face off with [redacted]
it's still very much a game to me, it's been quite difficult the first few runs after starting out though I've beaten meg nearly half of my 11 runs so I feel like I'm making good progress, that stupid bone hydra woulda died too if I had remembered to switch my keepsakes
- Your start Hades and really don't know if you want to play it now... - "No Escape" sountrack starts... - GUITAR BASS joing the chat at 0:08 - Yep, now you want to play it.
Honestly I held of on buying it for years because I don't have that much money income but I bought it a couple of days ago and I really really regret waiting holy shit
At this point, I'm convinced Supergiant Games doesn't know how to release a bad game. Every single one of your games has been full of so much love and care. Wonderful art design, spectacular sound design and music, great narratives, and addictive gameplay. Not to mention you actually used the pre-alpha stage for its intended purpose: to improve your game and make sure its released as a quality product. God bless you, we are so lucky to have a developer studio that knows its consumer base so well.
Its really like that. Its hard to explain, but i feel like they know exactly what they can deliver and they dont underestimate themselves but also dont overhype/overshoot the games. Ost is always fire
huuuge agreement with this comment. i never played their games prior to hades but i'd always wanted to. and with how fucking amazing this game is, i'm really excited to!! ik bastion especially is fairly adored
@@Ashe_Forester They have four games actually.: Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and Hades. Now you can go play one of their games that you don't know about. I love all their games as well. I think I've downloaded/bought bastion on three different consoles, and have bought their previous three soundtracks. I love everything about their games. I just bought Hades this past weekend and already put 20 hours into it. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a rogue-like so much.
a warm congrats on finishing Hades. the road has been long, arduous, and filled with hell and death, the latter thanks to Zagreus. see you in the next one, Supergiant Games.
well I think I beat Hades (The boss not the game) on my 23th run (maybe) and now I am on the 33th (or 34th idk) run of the game and than I beat the game for real
Hades is wonderful in many aspects, but I only needed to hear its music to get me to play and eventually fall in love with it. Thank you for uploading this!
Yeah same I listened to the sound track many times until I said to myself that i can't be listening to it all this time without playing it. I am having an absolute blast.
2:06:55 was the wildest moment ever, finally bringing down Hades for the first time just for him to get back up and this track starts playing- just fear and adrenaline surging through you.
I've been hit with the "final form phase" trope in a million games but I gotta say, I had no idea it was the case in this one. The first time I beat Hades' first stage I was so f**king hyped that when the second stage started I almost cried. If I had to use a situation as an example of an emotional rollercoaster, this would be it.
As a Greek myself I adore the way Greek /sounding/ instruments have been added, it gives it such a distinct sound, different from our traditional music and yet so beautiful. It helps that this is my favourite genre of music too😆

It is such a rare blessing to have a studio be so across the board spectacular, in not only their team but their library. Also to write 2.5 hours of music that doesn't get old after 70 hours is a mind boggling feat.
The fact that I can endlessly listen to these pieces while I play, and still come and want to listen to them when I'm not, is a testament to the amazing quality of music composition in this game.
@@benx3951 I think if you mail supergiant with proof of purchase they provide you with a bandcamp code/link where you can download the high quality stuff. Haven't tried it with Hades yet, but they did that with the Transistor ost.
This is the game that got me back into gaming after a severe depressive episode where I felt so miserable all the time I couldn't even play games or do anything else I used to enjoy. Forced myself to try this and I'm hooked. First thing to hold my attention in a long while. So thanks. This game is amazing.
Ironically, I am doing worse than ever since my emotional support dog died this week after a small surgery. Turns out it can just... Happen. For no reason. Feels so surreal and unfair. She was healthy and had just torn a tendon while being rowdy in the yard. Dropped her toy and twisted on her back leg to grab it injuring herself. A routine operation for the orthopedics specialist I took her to. Heartbroken. Guess all I can do is game.

This is one of the very few games I consider to be perfect. Perfect design, production, execution, totally optimized, zero loading times, zero bugs, perfect art, perfect lore and dialogue, perfect voice actors and a perfect adaptive soundtrack. We can always expect the very best from Supergiant Games.
Literally had to google the story of Orpheus after listening to Lament of Orpheus because it nearly brought me to tears and I had to know why. I've always had goosebumps listening to Darren Korb's music but man this took the cake.
The credits absolutely took my breath away, In The Blood is incredible. Darren and Ashley nailed it. Supergiant been making my favorite games for almost a decade now; I eagerly anticipate all your future work. You are an inspiration to me as a game developer.
The entire soundtrack is amazing, but "In the Blood" just hit differently after playing through the section of the game it appears in. Almost made me cry both the first and second time I heard it. Thank you Supergiant for this masterpiece of a game!
I have bad ADHD. I played a few rounds of a game that normally holds my focus really well but, it just wasn't cutting it tonight. My skin felt off, I was fidgeting terribly, and just could not settle. I flicked through about half my playlists on Spotify that normally work well enough. It helped, but I was still tense and just uncomfortable. So I turned to youtube and stumbled upon this in my recommended. Immediate relief. I can't tell you why but it works like a charm. I can relax and my thoughts are no longer buzzing painfully. Thank you so much.
From time to time, I think to myself, "Okay, we've done everything we really feel like we need to do in this game, don't really feel like I *need* to do another run". Then this music starts running through my head, and I'm off to remind Theseus of his place in the pecking order. :D
I was so torn apart between Hades and FF7R winning the GOTY, unfortunately neither of them did. But it pleases me so much that this game was up there competing against the giants of the industry. Like their bio states, this game brought joy and creativity into my life. Just like when I sat in front of my CCTV and PS1 back in the mid 90's and played games I truly loved as a kid. You, supergiant games, gave me so much hope for the future of the industry. Thank you.
I definitely took the time to sit down and listen to every song I came across. The two lovers in the game singing their unique songs was something I just couldn't pass up. What a master piece man
Still listening to this soundtrack regularly even after years. It has basically become the soundtrack of my university studies, as I work towards a degree in art history. I have a particular love for greco-roman mythological depictions in art, so this music fits extremely well cause it fits the theme while also keeping me pumped during the all-nighters spent on research. Really, really appreciate this soundtrack and the game!
Just beat this game with my son and it is an absolute masterpiece.... great job Supergiant! Was not expecting such an amazing soundtrack on top of a solid game.
I've played a few games in my 39 years on this planet and I will guarantee you I have never spent a fleeting moment listening to a video game soundtrack outside of said environment. Darren Korb, you are a mad-fucking-scientist. These songs haunt my dreams. I am in awe of the effort all of you have put into this game.
Congrats on getting the game to 1.0! Don't know if Darren Korb will ever see this, but I'm a huge fan of all your music. Can't wait to hear what you're working on next!

But I love that people enjoy it, and I loved the game, so...
This soundtrack is such a masterpiece, so impressive. I strongly believe Hades is the closest we ever had to a "perfect" game, if there's such a thing.
You guys are the real mvp's for uploading the whole thing here with no ads, so we can just have it play and never be paused. Hades is the game of the year for me.
A sincere congrats on the 1.0 release! My wife and I were just watching Noclip's most recent episode of Developing Hell last night, so waking up to the news and being able to download the game to our Switch was a nice surprise.
I absolutely adore this game, this sound track, these characters, the combat, the content, the conversations, the art and the atmosphere. Absolutely my game of the year, beyond any measure. Supergiant games, your work has touched me like a game hasn't for a long ass time, THANK YOU!
Someone did their music history homework. Making Orpheus a high tenor voice is such a great nod to Gluck, and such an obscure reference, but it makes the game so much richer. I adore this team! Darren Korb is a genius.
Only played for about 6 hours so far but its incredible, the ost, the visuals, the gameplay. Supergiant are such an incredible group of developers, consistent masterpieces

Never before had this kind of music integrate this masterfully in a video game. I don't think any amount of words can do justice to this masterpiece of a soundtrack. Been listening to this since it came out. Simply speechless.
This game is the only game I’ve ever played in my whole life where I kept the sound on the entire time, and this kickass soundtrack is a huge part of why.
Just finished the game a few days ago. I can't believe they put their whole soundtrack on RUclips. These Supergiant folks really know what people want. You've earned yourself a committed fan -- I'm buying your next game the moment it comes out.
I really want an animated series for this game. It could literally be the same exact story as it’s written in the game and I would watch the shit out of it.
I would absolutely watch it too - and yet I can't help but think that it's the repetition of the game, doing the same thing over and over and experiencing it differently each time to finally get to the "end," that makes the story meaningful. That feeling would be tough to get across in an anime. (But I'd still totally watch it.)
I've put over a hundred hours into Hades, and I loved the experience. Going back and listening to the music more intentionally is really letting me appreciate how well crafted the songs are. The building intensity really propels you through the stages. Amazing work!
we all know hades is an awesome game but there is more than that. when i first played hades, i was like wait i havent seen any bug in this game?! i still think the same after 75 hours of play. thank you for this bug-free masterpiece, i thought i would never see a "complete" game anymore :) hope you guys the best, the best is what you deserve

Much like another commenter, I don't have too much cash to spare and I rarely ever buy games. I bought myself Hades for my birthday and it's been one of the most pleasant /things/ I've ever bought. I have thousands of escape attempts and I'm not tired of it in the slightest. I wear through controllers from sheer playtime. I don't just play it, though. I sometimes stop after battle to wander around the rooms and listen to the different stems of music. I leave Zagreus in the lounge for ambience when I'm eating so I don't feel so lonely in quarantine. I can't count the hours I've just left Zagreus standing around in the hall while Hades passes endless judgment on the claims of mortal shades. It's better than lofi for me. I'm listening to Good Riddance right now and it's so touching and perfect for the day. I've just passed through a very dark time and things are looking way up. When things turn around, I'll be gifting friends copies of this game. Thank you SG. Please wait for my job application one day :D

Do you have any ancient greek music recommend?
I remember listening to Ancient Greek music in Ancient Greece...
Not only is this a masterpiece of a game but the music is so emotive as well
Also I loved that the first time I heard Orpheus sing in the court I was able to immediately think "the two-part of this song when they're together is gonna be a masterpiece"
Also the beginning of "God of the Dead" always sends a chill running up my spine as I get ready to face off with [redacted]
@@JoeyBonzo99 You know, when it's "God of the Dead"......you kinda figure out who it is. Because of the name. Of the game.
And that is exactly why it won the inaugural Hugo Award for best video game. I don't think any game deserved it more. Absolute masterpiece.
it's still very much a game to me, it's been quite difficult the first few runs after starting out though I've beaten meg nearly half of my 11 runs so I feel like I'm making good progress, that stupid bone hydra woulda died too if I had remembered to switch my keepsakes
It really is though. Crazy how they managed to combine so many good elements of typically different gaming genres together to make this masterpiece.
- Your start Hades and really don't know if you want to play it now...
- "No Escape" sountrack starts...
- GUITAR BASS joing the chat at 0:08
- Yep, now you want to play it.
DISTORTED Bass at that
Honestly I held of on buying it for years because I don't have that much money income but I bought it a couple of days ago and I really really regret waiting holy shit
I know I have all three games on my switch and I play them often. often being almost every day
@@Ashe_Forester They have four games actually.: Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and Hades.

How many runs did it take you?
@@davidraspberry9331 lost count?
well I think I beat Hades (The boss not the game) on my 23th run (maybe) and now I am on the 33th (or 34th idk) run of the game and than I beat the game for real
And then you try it with Extreme Measures and you get that feeling all over again.
And then you die >_
@@johncameron1935 the FEAR i had when i did my first Hades Extreme Measures. I screamed in terror
i knew it was gonna be hard so i used an op build so i can buy it
I've been hit with the "final form phase" trope in a million games but I gotta say, I had no idea it was the case in this one.

After playing it for over 100 runs to get to the ending (including the epilogue) - it totally is.
As everyone who's listening to this while working, note to self:
- Complete Cerberus affinity;
- Learn to play the lyre;
- Buy all the songs;
- Beat the game with Aspect of Guan Yu.

What lyre?
@@antoniusdaivap7759 you can buy a lyre :>
Some of those words mean things to me. I'm not far enough to get the Aspect(?) stuff, but I'm really excited.
Oh screw the Aspect of Guan Yu.
It is such a rare blessing to have a studio be so across the board spectacular, in not only their team but their library. Also to write 2.5 hours of music that doesn't get old after 70 hours is a mind boggling feat.
The fact that I can endlessly listen to these pieces while I play, and still come and want to listen to them when I'm not, is a testament to the amazing quality of music composition in this game.
this. If you can listen to the in game music for hundred of hours, and STILL come back to listen the whole ost, its truly good :D
The music for primordial chaos really captures the essence of “the land of the creator” and “beyond our mental grasp” and I love it
I’m 2 years late but yes its so cool ! 🔥
You don't buy Supergiant's game without purchasing the OST, that's a rule.
you had me worried there in the first half
Sadly, it's not even a FLAC version on Steam. Music deserves better.
@@benx3951 I think if you mail supergiant with proof of purchase they provide you with a bandcamp code/link where you can download the high quality stuff. Haven't tried it with Hades yet, but they did that with the Transistor ost.
although with so many soundtracks not sure if that'll happen again...
@@야옹이내놔 Well, I ended buying it anyway. And oh joy, FLAC were also included ! I'm so happy and pleased ^^
Darren Korb is literally a ONE MAN ARSENAL! Supergiant is so lucky to have him onboard their projects!
Hades Devs being the real ones by posting the whole soundtrack to RUclips AND not having ads
Literally had to google the story of Orpheus after listening to Lament of Orpheus because it nearly brought me to tears and I had to know why. I've always had goosebumps listening to Darren Korb's music but man this took the cake.
Check out Hadestown for a musical rendition of that story.
The credits absolutely took my breath away, In The Blood is incredible. Darren and Ashley nailed it. Supergiant been making my favorite games for almost a decade now; I eagerly anticipate all your future work. You are an inspiration to me as a game developer.
When I first bought the game, I already knew i was gonna be hooked, but when "No Escape" played, Hades became my life
The entire soundtrack is amazing, but "In the Blood" just hit differently after playing through the section of the game it appears in. Almost made me cry both the first and second time I heard it. Thank you Supergiant for this masterpiece of a game!
you hear it twice?

Theseus is a peckneck.
The boss fight of Elysium: Asterius, charging at you with all sorts of attacks, and some other guy, that does virtually nothing to you.
Thank you.
Still hurts knowing Hades's VA didn't get the reward for best performance, though. 😥
Didn't it win?
Ahh, only best Action & Indie of 2020 ~ definitely should've won best music
When you hear Ashley singing, YOU STOP AND LISTEN!!
I definitely took the time to sit down and listen to every song I came across. The two lovers in the game singing their unique songs was something I just couldn't pass up. What a master piece man
Ashley is amazing. She should've done more songs on this one. She nailed Transistor.
This soundtrack has similarly helped me through my philosophy degree and masters!
Ehm... Doom, Skyrim...
You haven't been playing the right games, friend. There are SO MANY out there that I adore for different reasons.
Go check Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles, or most of Uematsu's work
The Witcher 3 is a must too
My condolences . Missing out on the Oblivion OST... *slowly takes off hat

I love how the name of the track that plays in Charon’s shop is “Final Expense” since, for mortals, their final expense is giving Charon his fare.

Hades OST is unbelievable. I believe it will be praised for many decades to come!
This feels like the result of giving Apollo an electric guitar and I love it so much!
Ashley Barret's voice is warm honey to my ears
I've put over a hundred hours into Hades, and I loved the experience. Going back and listening to the music more intentionally is really letting me appreciate how well crafted the songs are. The building intensity really propels you through the stages. Amazing work!
