    You are a true craftsman and have a big heart. Doing everything right and safely matters even if those who've lost a loved one might not ever notice the care you took. When my grandmother was burried, I actually stayed behind to watch the casket be lowered into the vault and the lid sealed. The vault man doing it explained how the equipment worked as he did it as I asked.

    You bring such a human side to this. It's nice to know there are men like you who care about people in their times of loss. You need to set it up so folks can join your channel and help with your headstone cleaning costs.

    Man I have always been fascinated with stuff like this and always scared to watch on RUclips but it’s just the way that you explain everything with the background music and story telling which makes it comfortable for me to watch. God bless you brother and everyone who will eventually have to be laid to rest 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

    I wish I would have known the information you have shared when we buried my grandmother in California. We were told that we couldn’t stay behind to watch her be lowered. They told us it would cost us more money to do so. Watching your videos has given me more peace of mind on how the lowering process works.

I want to share a story with you, about 14years ago my girlfriend lost her Dad and as we were about to place his casket into the Mausoleum his casket was about half way in and the workers walked away to their truck to get something the casket slide out and I happened to catch it and pushed it in the wall

    Worked at Wilbert for 15 years...1994...2009...And 99 percent of the time would be the vault in the ground....The Wilbert way was only used once in a while....I'm in the northeast so the ground was rarely good enough for the weight of the vault to be suspended....

    Amazing. i fully respect and admire all you do for the departed and the family. I am so impress at the process. Here is the UK it is still VICTORIAN TIMES. NO such thing as an outer vault. Cheap rubbish chipboard or MDF board. and the open grave is surrounded by what is dug out. There is no dignity about a grave setting. They still use4 DIRTY CLOTHED grave diggers with old rope to lower and jossil the casket at various angles and height. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE VICTORAIN WAYS, AS ARE MOST THINGS STILL TODAY. Thank you for all you do.

    • @AMSillje
      @AMSillje Месяц назад

      Do you really want all that metal, paint and plastic to be put into the earth just to make it look more dignified? In the end we will all become part of the earth and therefore enable new things to grow. I think that is the most beautiful thing!

  • @MightyMuffins
    @MightyMuffins Месяц назад +1

    Your videos are an incredible insight on this tough job. I would be curious if possible to also include the final tear down and possible fill backing in of the grave from the gravedigger itself?

    When my dad passed the funeral home did a horrible job with both his preparation, and his service. They forgot things in the vehicles and left. They also forgot things at the funeral home. They also got the wrong casket color for him. It was a horrible job by them enough that my mom and myself along with some others that where involved don't want to use them at all. Then, on top of everything his gravesite kept collapsing due to ground moisture. Which I understand wasn't anyone's fault but it just was like the final insult of the day.

    Which Brand & Model Vault is the best water-free/ tight? I don't want to end up in a wet grave forever. Is the cheaper concrete vault water-tight? What do they do to make them watertight? Someone told me there is a plastic insert they use. Is that true? Awesome video thumbs up. God bless you for what you do.

    • @AMSillje

      Would you prefer to be decaying very slowly surrounded by plastic and metals? The most beautiful thing to me is that we return to the earth and once again become part of it. A second life on a molecular level where we are part of a new plant, tree or other life form?

    You are doing a great job! I respect you very much for all the effort you put into your work and for the dignity that you provide for those who have passed. I am from the Netherlands and our view of burials differs quite a bit from the USA. It is very important to us that the casket (coffin) will decompose completely and won't pose a biological threat. What is your view on all that metal going into the soil including an embalmed (toxic) body? With all due respect, but that would very much not be acceptable here.

    @36.00 why is the grave so shallow? I live in the UK and my father after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer wanted a double depth grave for when his wife, my step mother passes. On the day of his funeral I was one of the bearers and have never seen a grave so deep. It was 9 nearly 10ft down. The grave you have here is at the depth that the moles run it seems that shallow.

    its honorable to work with the deceased while i know peoples faith differ's i do think while the mechanical body shuts down that their spirit lives on otherwise we would not have memories i dunno about you the ongoing joke in these parts is when the dead rise how they are going to get out of these vaults?
    where im at there is who knows how many remains are in these mountains
    i live on land with a family cemetery very common but i think i would lose it when people start walking down these forest covered hills
    i have comforted family with humor it helps so much with grief if you find out a little about the persons character
    i have also told people they would see them again
    my line of work is a little different than yours but you know my kind well you probably have cleaned statues of us

    The shameful part of all of this funeral homes pray on the vulnerable family to upscale a casket,burial vault telling you that the less expensive one will leak but the better ones won't. Now how are you going to know if it leaks or not after some years in the ground covered with dirt ? You're not going to know anything about it. Because you are no longer alive...
