That is a beautiful car,,it happens to be the same age as I being I wás born in 1955 Nov 15th, my family members owned about 4 of these 1955 Chevy when I was about 14 yrs old up untill about 23yrs old , 3 of my brother's and 1sister owned one during our younger yrs, 2 brothers had the bel air , one looked exactly like yours except it had a V8 under the hood as well as my other brothers belair except his was two tone with the upper part white and the lower red, my sister had the 4 door had top which was all blue in color and not two tone just a solid blue, a dark blue that best I could describe the color would be turquoise, oh I almost forgot my eldest brother who owned a 2door sedan which was another two tone blue with white top but he had it painted all one tone lime green , which may not sound flattering for a car color but if you saw it I think you would've thought it looked, cool even though you like sticking was original from what I understood by your video,, and I totally agree when it comes to these beautiful cars from the 50's ,I used to owned a 1957 sedan delivery which I loved so much , just the memories of the good times we all used to with that car make me miss the good old old days , I ended up having to sell it because I had it stored where someone was steeling parts from it like crazy and I was afraid I would end up with just the shell before they were done so when I got an offer for $700 which was what I paid for it I took it, it broke my heart but I could be there to watch over it and that was the only storage I had for it so it was the option I had that it not end up in a junk yard somewhere because two many parts missing and not worth restoring, anyway thank for sharing your beautiful 55 Chevy with us and taking me down memory lane once again I had a wonderful time watching your video enjoying your beautiful car and the memories it brought, Thank You,
      P.S,
Thought I should mention since I talked about 3 brothers and 1 sisters owning one of these beauties in our younger yrs you might be wondering just how many brothers & sisters do I have, or not but I'm gonna tell you anyway because I love them , I have 7 brothers and 5 sisters , I'm in the middle of the 13 of us and I just turned 68 on the 15th of this month ( November) which was just a couple days ago, oh I was born in 1955, just like your beautiful car was, thanks for letting me bend your ear, I had a wonderful time thanks to your sharing your video of your car and I appreciate your doing this and you for the good time , it was fun,
      May God Bless
      Gil.

Love to see a car with the straight six still under the hood. So many cars back then had these smooth reliable six cylinder engines, and trucks too. It brings back a certain nostalgia because the straight six was pretty common to see when you opened up a hood, or later a small displacement eight. The blue flame is extra special. Nice car. My Dad had the 56 Bel Air with the same color scheme. 265 power-pack. That dashboard brings back memories. Loved that airplane hood ornament too. : )

I applaud the owner for not swapping out the inline-6. You can tell when a '55 is a six by the deletion of the small "V" emblems placed between the taillights and bumper. In '56 the "V" was placed on the hood and trunk. A quintessential '50's car for sure!

Once again we travel back in time, to 1955, to see this magnificently restored Chevrolet Bel Air! I like that soft combination of pastel colors between light blue and ivory white. Everything looks shiny; from the beautiful airplane ornament on the hood, to its chrome rear bumper (so shiny you could clearly see it with the camera's reflection). An equally neat interior with a beautiful combination of tones similar to the exterior, along with an instrument panel rich in chrome details. As always, the collection of manuals and catalogs in the trunk is quite interesting; In fact, they looked like they had just been printed, because they were so shiny! Finally, the final ride was great while that chrome Jet sailed along the route to follow! Great video, Lou, and best regards!

Such a beautiful example of a mid-1950's car. Still so round and simple...Just look what a few short years away that cars would look like in 1958 or 1959! They were outragous. This car has an innocence that was there in the early to mid-50's. Love it. The engine sounded great! Loved all the chrome inside around the windows. It makes it look expensive. Great car! Great detail. Don't forget Thumbs UP everyone to show Lou how much we appreciate what he does....and to keep them coming!!

Back in high school we would have scoffed at this car because of the six cylinder. It was strange that the original owner opted for power steering and brakes but wouldn’t step up to,the new V-8! Still, that 235 six was no slouch and actually had more than adequate power. People was sometimes, distrustful of new technologies in those days. The 235 six was a proven great engine! Great car!

If I were a collector, I might have one of these, although I am a Ford/ Mercury guy first and a Plymouth/ Chrysler guy next. I mostly agree that vintage cars should be unmolested. No hot rods unless they were muscle cars from the factory to begin with, and still, these should be unmolested. The glass water bottle for a washer fluid reservoir was interesting. I didn't know the car designers would do that. I have to, wonder about that spare tire being original, it looks in too good of shape to be that old. There should be signs of oxidation on that tire. Good video, nice looking car.

Beautiful car Lou. My dad's first car which he still owns he bought a red a white 2 door hardtop 265 power pack in 1970 for $275. The original motor got blown up drag racing then a 235 went in and it got blown up too. After that he got a 283 power pack engine out of a 57 Chevy and that's what's still in it today. This blue and white one is nicely optioned with power steering and power brakes and electric wipers, the chrome exhaust tip cost extra also. Do you happen to know where he got those accessories manuals from? My dad would love to have some of them. They would make a good Christmas present for him.

Man, nice looking Chevy. My brother in law bought a restored convertible one in the early 1990's. It was white and orange colored. He had the small v8 in his. I think he said it was the first year for a Chevy V8, 1955. Chevy had straight 6's up to this year with no v8 option. This 6 in this one looks just fine to me. When I was young, the hotter the better, now I'm older, the straight 6 would be powerful enough and better on gas. Not a speed demon. This is a really nice car this man has.

An un-molested '55 Bel-Air for sure. I think Tony's adding rocker panels along the bottom (per the accessories book) is a good idea; giving the sides there a nice gentle dash of flash.

Quite a few of the early automatics didn’t have a (P)ark gear. You had to put them in (N)eutral and apply the parking brake.
Even after all automatics had a Park gear my dad didn’t want to use it if he was parking on a public street. He felt that if someone hit the car, you’d shear the gears, while if you used neutral, the driveshaft would be totally disengaged and there would be no transmission damage. He finally stopped doing that in the late ‘60’s.

Love the "trunk-n-treats" on this '55, Lou! What was the deal with Peter Pan and Chevy Bel Airs? Maybe Captain Hook drove a Ford Fairlane! Anyway, I had a chance to buy a restored 210 with an inline 6 twenty years ago and didn't do it because I thought I needed a V-8 and have regretted it ever since. Great story, Lou! Thanks.

In 1955 Chevrolet offered a single 235 cu in six cylinder engine rated at 136 horsepower when equipped with Powerglide or 123 horsepower with the manual transmission. The dual carburetor set up on this car is most likely "Period Correct" but is clearly identified as an after market item and consequently it does NOT represent original or optional equipment offered by Chevrolet for this car. Non authentic modifications aside, it is a very nice car

The car has two 1bbl.carbs on a Fenton intake manifold not a 4bbl. Surprised it lacks a split exhaust manifold for dual exhaust. Fenton made such exhaust with two cast-iron pieces.

Personnaly, the 55,56, and even 57 FORD was a better looking automobile. The 57 Chevy was sharp, but put it side by side with the 57 FORD, the FORD was sleeker, longer and a little more innovative. NOW the 58 IMPALA has it all over thr 58 FORD. THAT was not a good design that FORD came up with !

I don't know that the 58 Ford wasn't a good design, it was maybe Chevrolet managed to come up with a better design. It would seem that Chevrolet may have taken over the lead by 58, but I liked the 59 Ford better than the 59 Chevy. In 60, it probably went back to Chevy, but it was a neck to neck race for best design throughout the sixties.
