@@YourDigitalSpaceman Ah, I see. I prefer to focus on the talent they have rather than what they're wearing. But if you'd like to focus on that, I guess you can feel free to. Just doesn't necessarily seem like a healthy outlook to me.
really good to hear Erin say she doesn't follow a strict diet. very important for young athletes, especially climbers, to hear that they can compete at her level without restrictive eating.
This is an interesting point because of the many cases of EDs in climbing due to the old fashioned light=strong mindset. However as many advanced climbers at the top levels have stated, we are nowhere near the peak of human performance in climbing, things like genetics play a role in climbing sure but could you imagine what chris sharma would be like if he followed a tailored training plan with today's facilities? Dave Mcleod talks a lot about nutrition and I think as we continue to push the boundaries of climbing, more regulated diets will likely become necessary. I mean Adam Ondra still drinks from time to time.
True, but for the amount of exercise she does yogurt and granola and two eggs with salad isn't nearly enough protein and calories. The pasta is good though!!
I think climbing is where road bike was like 10-15 years ago. The pros back these days didnt follow a diet. Now they do, it got more professional and there is more power now. I think in 10 years any pro team has a diet coach. And I wanna say, diet doesnt mean loose weight but get the perfect macros, micros and calories to get strong😊
You can tell Erin trains lead. Louis went to the British Bouldering finals this year so in boulder they are quite close but in endurance she can run (climb) laps around Louis for days.
Erin comes across as very much still in the process of coming to terms with the idea of people looking up to her, let alone an entire nation of climbers. Chronically humble, like so many climbers. I love that about the sport
always amazes me how perople like Erin, or toby roberts, who are really the best of the best in what they do, and they are the humblest, most quiet /borderline shy people to exist. If you saw them outdoors you'd never imagine how much of a beast they are compared to mortals.
Honestly nearly every elite level climber I’ve met has been super humble and shy I’d say that climbing does seem to attract a certain personality type, and usually it’s not the loud mouth brash outgoing type
2:25 This transition had me in stitches and then the desperate "Throw it!" from louis to top it off. Great video everyone :) After seeing the video, It's so nice to see louis support, and coaching come out during the video. "less thinking more doing!" and she immidately tries to challenge at hand. Not to mention the beta on the black boulder. Really cool to see not only the knowledge of a coach, but the humility of Erin to still take advice from a 'worse' climber (not to call Louis bad, just not an olympian)
I’m really curious how they manage fatigue, soreness and tendon strain training like that. Makes no sense to me. I know there’s a bit of conditioning at play but 6-8 hours a day 6 days a week seems impossible to maintain without injuries.
@@TheLifeofJaayy They don't start with this amount of training out of the blue. She said she started climbing when she was 5 and probably slowly built up her training volume over the years.
I feel like this is one of your absolute best videos. everything is just so well done, from the music, filming and editing, to the brilliant and unforced interview questions, and louis just being louis. someone describing it as golden retriever and cat energy was perfect
This is the most introvert vs extrovert person you've ever done! Also Erin is sooooo strong and conroller in her climb, i was so impressed with her sent on 24:21. She was like "i know the power is there, i just have to use the perfect technique in every move" *and she did it without rushing anything* for me (a much weaker climber) is the biggest takeaway watching her climb!
I love how British climbers like Erin and Toby are the biggest fighters on the wall. In my humble opinion Japanese climbers like sorato and tomoa have greater use of flow and momentum but what gave Toby the edge in the olympics over Sorato was his ability to fight super hard to stay on the wall. 🤩Sick collab with Erin McBEAST!!!!
This is incredibly cool to get to see, amazing to get access like this to train with such an impressive athlete. Seeing the campusing part really blew me away - the amount of body tension and control Erin shows while campusing is just jaw-dropping. Every swing of the legs seemed like it was intentional and perfectly controlled, with no superfluous movement - and that ability to just *stop swinging* when she wants to? Amazing to see. An absolute beast of a climber. Oh, and please don't edit out Louis' weeping noises, that's what we come here for, isn't it?
idk how many times ive watched this already but i keep coming back to the warmup section with louis just being more and more bewildered and amazed with each exercise haha i don't think ive laughed this hard on a climbing video ever! props to louis for trying all of it and being a good sport about it, and huge props to erin for just...doing all of that all the time? like damn
I didn't know Erin before Paris but eas immediately hooked by her style and attitude. Wasn't disappointed by this collab, awesome video. Also, great to see what a good trainer Louis is, how he supported her but also took things for his own training and coaching. Two great human beings 👍
Erin is so chill. You expect to see more aggession in her voice, but you see it on the wall with the try so hard. Didn't know to much about her before the olympics. Thank you for the video.
I was lucky enough to be there while they filmed this and meet one of my all time bouldering heroes in Louis ❤ lovely to meet you and glad to hear that the business and the videos are all going well, keep up the good work Louis! Cheers, Sam
I want to hear how Louie felt the next day after this session. Its just wild to me that someone can train that much in a day with only one rest day per week
Louie did actually so freaking well! Good job I am so impressed by your performance on the campus and boulders! But you can see how Erin is allrounded in all disciplines and from how she talked she is nowhere near her absolute peak so I am so interested what will come out of her in future comps (or some rock ascents yes please!)
Both being so humble towards each other is very wholesome to see, but an instructor definitely does not need to be better than the student to give good advice, as demonstrated when Louis' advice worked for Erin.
Why did watching how strong she is make me want to cry? Like, on the one hand its incredibly impressive and inspiring, and on the other, I feel like it is confirmation in real time that I could never be one of the best, or anywhere near the best for that matter...
What I want to know is Erin's skin routine. How can anyone climb like that for 6 hours a day, 6 days a week without burning through skin? Antihydral can only do so much.
Great showing on the climbs by Louis. Clearly a good climber. Really interesting to see where Louis keeps up and then where the differences (in refinement?) start to show.
Brilliant video Louis ! Erin is incredible and so humble and quiet and super strong. I struggle doing 2hrs twice a week nevermind 6hrs a day 6 days a week. Respect!
Erin is crazy strong, but it was also crazy seeing Louis being able to not only keep up with her but also offer some advice! I'd love to see a video with Molly sometime in the near future
Erin was really cool last season, but even so in the OQS she blew my mind... I'm really looking forward to her next season because I have a feeling the crushing has only just begun :)
Damn, one foot on that balance ball thingy and catches two balls like it's nothing. That's pretty darn impressive. And oh my, one legged squat all the way down, one leg out in front on the balance thing, I was going "no way you're getting back up from that", and she does it like it's easy. Wow.
She’s so sweet while simultaneously being an absolute beast. She’s so cool.
So impressive!!

To be fair very few people can compete at her level no matter how they eat lol
I like Janjas take on the Terrex videos. "I'm on a seefood diet. I see food, I eat it."

Here you see a wild Louie actually keeping up with an olympian while being polite and supporting. Love it!
And she does this 6 days a week! ☝

Not only keeping up, but also giving advice. It's just mind-blowing
His climbing level is great, obviously, but where Louie really shines in my eyes, is as a trainer and as a human being.
Never cared much about sport or supported anyone before but a huge fan of Erin and Toby. Hugely inspiring athletes.
The new generation are inspiring everyone for sure
The control Erin had on that pistol squat was ridiculous
Got to love how Erin's face lights up when Louis makes his mad suggestion to try and skip that black hold
I love Erin, she's so nice and wholesome and has such a cozy mellow vibe. ❤
Holy smokes! She's so humble while being strong af. And so precise. A joy to watch her climb. Impressive by you keeping up with an Olympian!

This has been one of the coolest colabs you've done so far! Really good video!
Louis, the most effective coach, humble and fun to climb with. His genuinely nice on and off camera, it’s contagious.
Louis on the balance balloon/blob is possibly the most hilarious thing I've seen in ages. 😂🎉
hearing Louis say “oh no!” when Erin did the 180 spin move effortlessly on the campus part after being gassed out was priceless😂
Haha wouldn’t say effortless. But wildly impressive nonetheless
She's not just an olympian Louis, she's top 5 best female combined climber at the moment and for years to come.

wow she is so calm and humble, it is really responsive. I am rooting for you Erin.
