I think it's most important that people read their Bible and focus and building their relationship with God.
Anyone who is serious about joining the Amish should try to find a new order church or even a conservative Mennonite church at least to start off with. They are more welcoming to outsiders. And with Mennonites you won't have to learn a new language or get rid of your car. Visit a few communities first. Try and make friends with them. Check out Anabaptist perspectives on RUclips and learn about their history and why the believe what they do.
Ridgeway and pathway publishers has a copy of the Amish/Mennonite confession of faith and has books to help learn PA Dutch. It's what's used in their schools. Also Douglas Madenford has a series as well on PA Dutch. Keep in mind there are different dialects which can get confusing. There are quite a few books that are great for any Christian not just Anabaptist.

New order Amish and Mennonites beliefs in the assurance of salvation which is important in my opinion. It's not just based on works. Your faith is the more important than all of the rules.

I made a comment and forgot to add something. Not sure if RUclips glitched or if it was removed. I'll try again in a bit.

I'm trying for the minimalist lifestyle! It's pretty hard for me getting rid of junk! 😧

You can do it!! Maybe store it in a box and write on it . Throw out after 2 months. It gives you time to realize how good it feels without having it in your space and if you really did use something you’ll have missed it by two months. After two months just throw it out or donate if it’s still usable .

I have ridden several horses in the country, but I'd hate to have to "drive a horse" around the city, buggy or no. I'm sure you know, horses like to eat whether you drive them or not.

Yep ! Anymore having a car isn’t more pricier then having a horse and buggy .

What would you say to somebody, like me, a non-denominational Christian, or frankly any non-Amish individual, if they tried to speak to you about your beliefs?

I am open to listening to people and talking about beliefs 😊

I hate the city so much, it feels like a zoo, every house a prison cell. I was staying on my grandfather's farm until my family forced me to come back and it's only damaged me further. I would love to join the amish but I wonder if they'd let an ex-muslim in

Joining the Amish would be extremely difficult , but living in the country is totally possible. Create the life you want 😊
