    At least we got Soto. Now add Alonso and another bat and strengthen the bullpen and we are good to go. Still not as good as the Dodgers, but will be competitive where anything can happen.

    IF the D-Backs drop out from contention just prior to the trade deadline, Maybe Mets can trade for Zac Gallen before the Phillies do. I put it this way, because Zac Gallen comes from Southern NJ.

    It’s hard to compete with the Dodgers with the a large Asian population in the LA area for a young player and being comfortable in a new country. The Dodgers have a leg up on everyone in this regard. Plus with all the negative press and issues in New York City doesn’t help either.

      I hope, but I doubt that Sasaki signs with the Blue Jays. At least the Yanks won't have a comlpete cakewalk in the AL East if he does.

    • @LockedOnMets
      @LockedOnMets  16 дней назад +1

      Yeah, the Mets and Yankees were always going to be underdogs in this race. The Padres seem to be well-positioned to land Sasaki as well, we’ll just have to see.

      Plus with Dodgers being the face of MLB in Japan that’s really hard to overcome. If you haven’t been following closely another reason is the Mets international pool money is already tied up in one player.

      @@dashx1103big deal. Senga was not under international restrictions and the Mets outbid everyone else bc he was just not as desirable as Ohtani and Yamamoto. His comment should be to not waste their time on top tier Japanese talent, especially the ones under international restrictions, bc they all want to go to the Dodgers. They obviously had no problem securing second tier Japanese talent though.

    • @dashx1103
      @dashx1103 17 дней назад +3

      @@Dan-tt8sn He absolutely did not limit his comment to players “under restrictions.” He stated “Japanese players.” And when Senga came to MLB he was the most coveted Japanese pitcher on the market. So I have no idea what you are trying to say here. The Mets shouldn’t pursue Japanese talent, even though they successfully landed good Japanese talent just a couple of years ago? Really? That’s the message here? It really just seems like a butt-hurt reaction to missing on Roki and Yamamoto. The Mets absolutely should continue to pursue Japanese talent. It won’t always work out, but you go after talent where you can.

    • @Dan-tt8sn
      @Dan-tt8sn 17 дней назад

      @@dashx1103 Any highly desirable Japanese player will always choose the Dodgers. The Mets beat the Dodgers offer on Yamamoto and I’m sure some teams matched or beat the Dodgers offer on Ohtani, but they both still went to LA. Get used to it. Ever since Ohtani went to the Dodgers, Japan has basically become an extension of theDodgers minor league system. I’d bet my life savings Murakami ends up there too.

    Sasaki made a terrible choice...At LAD he will be completely overshadowed by Ohtani...If it is the SD Padres, he is going to a backwater destination and to an organization mired in a nasty inter-family legal squabble...If he goes to Jayz, he is disappearing from MLB mainstream focus and attention...Meanwhile, the METS offered a major market, the richest owner, the best manager/pitching coaching staff/pitching lab & a GM/Owner combo who are building a sustainable Dynasty...Oh well...Now Soto & Lindor can tee off on Sasaki and up his ERA when the METS pummel Sasaki's team, whoever that team may be...!!
