Yamamoto had a huge part in recruiting Sasaki. Both young and both Japanese and Yamamoto was able to explain in Japanese how great it is to be play for the Dodgers; how they treat players, develop players, protect players and their families. Huge. Thank you Yamamoto.
Sasaki is known to look up to Darvish as a mentor. To share a funny comment by a Dodger Blue fan-when Sasaki was considering the Padres, he talked to Darvish for advice, and Yu told Sasaki in private to join the Dodgers!-😂😂
The WS, yamamoto signing, now this and all other stuff had happened because of 1 man, ohtani, without him the dodgers wouldn’t win or have opportunities to build a team like this
Darvish had two starts for the dodgers World Series team in 2017 and was garbage. Maybe if he did something with them they would of kept him. 3.1 innings pitched in two games both loses to the cheaters
@@robertaBooey69To be fair to Darvish, it's hard to perform your best when the other team is stealing your signs and cheating. Don't forget that Kershaw also got shelled in that series. Of course, Kershaw almost always gets shelled in the postseason, so there's that.
Dodger fans need to realize they're not just capturing the Japanese market and Asian market, but the perpetually underrated Asian American market. I love that I not only get to root for Shohei, Yoshi, and Roki from Japan, but Hyeseong Kim from Korea, Tommy Edman, who's hapa Korean, and even Dave Roberts, who was born in Okinawa, which may be a Japanese prefecture, but is a distinct culture. Fun fact: My grandparents were in the first wave of Okinawans who migrated to Hawaii in the early 20th century.
I was born and raised minutes away from Dodgers stadium. My Dad used to take me and my sisters to see Fernando Valenzuela pitch in the 1980’s. I’m Mexican American, 80% of Dodgers fans are Mexican descent. Baseball runs in my blood. Both of my grandfathers used to play baseball against each other in a small ranch in Mexico in the 1930’s. Also my dad played beer league baseball throughout the Los Angeles and Long Beach area in the early 80’s. When the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World Series this year, I gave my dad a big hug and told him thank you for making us Dodgers fans.
Not just Asia players. Got Glasgow, Teo, Snell, Edman. He didn't defer all the $$$ for nothing. In truth... Ohtani made a really smart move by writing in his contract he can opt out if owner or Andrew F. was not on the team. Ohtani got owner & GM in his pocket
Correct. Other team fans said, Ohtani is MVP, he was individual great but wasn’t “important” to the team…wasn’t leading the team…😂 Shoheis teammates said, “when having Ohtani, the best player in the lineup, you feel special and to beat anybody!”
@@AY2121-i4y True, if a different team got Shohei's contract, they might just waste Shohei's investment to win now. Shohei gave Angels time to build a team and they couldn't, now Shohei gave the Dodgers the money to build a team for him and they're delivering.
I'm from Toronto and fortunately I'm a Dodgers fan. One more WS Championship and we pass the Giants. I'm predicting 3 more WS Championships in 6 years.
Japanese media saying that Manny Machado ruined it for the Padres by coming to the meeting chewing gum. Thats a big disrespect in Japanese. Shows the organizations character
I would take most reporting from Japan with a few grains of salt. It's entirely possible that Machado made a bad impression by smacking on gum, but it's also possible that Sasaki watched tons of MLB ballgames where _everyone's_ chewing gum and spitting sunflower seed hulls everywhere. If he's offended by that, he's not going to last a single at-bat in MLB. It's the uncertain future for the Padres that most likely DQ'd them.
I remember going to a Rockies v Dodger game in all blue she was a Rockies reporter. I screamed Alana I love you. She looked and gave me a big ol smile. I knew the. She was true blue!
The Dodgers may not win the World Series every year, but they are exciting to watch! I would instead follow a team that wins close to 100 or over 100 games yearly rather than one that wins 60 or 70 games! Sorry for the other 29 teams.
Agree with Clint….Kiké brings that dogged attitude and play off moxie that fires up the team. Front office knows this-which is why his return is a must.
I feel a little alone in that I'm not like super hyped for the Roki signing. Like, I still see him as a prospect. Probably one of the best prospects out there, and so he'll be like a key asset to the team for the future, but I'm also pretty tempered in my expectations. I don't expect too much right away, and I'm already prepared for the haters to say he's a dud when he has some rough outings, which are bound to happen. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him that he chose the Dodgers because for sure it'll help his career get off to a better start. And it doesn't hurt that he's a world class talent. I'm also not surprised because coming into the final three teams, this was the only team that made sense for Roki. But it's still a fun time and I'm looking forward to watching him grow into a better pitcher! Social media being filled with "ruining baseball" talk might be my favorite part though. It's golden. 😏
you take kershaw out in october, not add him. Let the greatest regular season pitcher in history get his 3k strikeouts, then let him ride the pine in the post season.

San Diego it was fun while you basically had a dodger running your club but he died and so did the cities chances. San Francisco is our real rival anyway 😂. They can fight it out in OKC for the remaining spots on the roster...
Trading cards. Not literally, but they give the Dodgers options should they need a position player.
