  • r/Maliciouscompliance In today's video, OP (who is white) is living in Japan with her husband (who's Japanese). An absolutely insane entitled woman comes up to the couple and accuses the wife of cheating, because it's impossible for a white woman to be with an Asian dude, apparently? The lady makes a complete fool of herself and ends up exposing herself as the cheater!

    When I was in highschool I got fired from my first ever job because I could not be at a shift due to last second religion/family obligations. Despite contacting every single other employee I was unable to get my shift covered, so I missed the shift. This wasn't a big deal as I got a new job quickly. I found out months after being at my new job that when my new boss called my old boss for a reference he tried to convince him not to hire me. Outside of the already mentioned incident I had never had any problems at my first job and actively went out of my way to learn every position so I could fill any spot and be as useful as possible so I don't know why they hated me so much.

    • @BankruptMonkey
      @BankruptMonkey Год назад +8

      I had an ex boss who hated me specifically because I was friends with a coworker and she was jealous that cool coworker wasn't friends or more than friends with her. That's my childhood best friend of course we'll be closer than some standard boss and employee relationship. Some real petty childish people out there can have dumb reasons for giving bad recommendations.

    • @astrofan1993
      @astrofan1993 Год назад +7

      Sometimes, there really is no reason for why they hate you. It just comes down to conflicting personalities. I once had an assistant supervisor at my job in college who hated me because we just didn't click personality-wise. The things I liked, he hated. For example, he was one of those "I haven't been a Nintendo fan since the SNES days/Nintendo should go the way of Sega" kinds of people, and I have enjoyed every Nintendo generation.
      We'd get into heated arguments about Nintendo's fortunes during the Wii U era. I advocated for a wait-and-see approach to see if they could turn things around like they did with the 3DS, and he was already writing them off as going the way of Sega. In retrospect, the Wii U flopped hard (a pitiful 13.56 million units sold), but the Switch has now outsold the Wii (and possibly even the PS4 and Game Boy/Game Boy Color line if recent reports are true).
      He also hated Skyrim, Minecraft, Steam, and Xbox, all of which I loved. When I won my Xbox One in an on-campus contest and was showing it off, the first words out of his mouth were, and I quote, "Sell it and get a PS4." About the only thing we could ever really agree on was a fondness for Legos. As much as I tried to find common ground and extend the olive branch, he'd swat it away every single time.
      Thus, it was those personality conflicts that led him to accuse me of doing things I didn't do and try to get me fired for it. And the one time I was late (during finals week), I was very close to being fired. Had I been just a few minutes later, they would have sent the paperwork off to HR to terminate my employment. Usually, you have to be late three times before being fired, but this was just once. It goes to show how much he wanted to be rid of me.
      I got so burnt out and depressed from that job, that our mutual supervisor saw how bad of a shape I was in. After a long talk, she told me that my only option was to quit. She was very sympathetic to my plight, but a week after I put in my two-week notice, she said that they already hired my replacement and it would have been too much money to keep both of us on board, so they were letting me go a week early. My final shift lasted five minutes.
      So the old adage is true: people don't quit their jobs, they quit their bosses.

Most businesses that don't have ideal-driven or charismatic leaders that uphold truth and are willing to take risks to uphold it will avoid taking any action that might be construed (even wrongly) as culpability for a wrong done against any person. Basicslly in the military you have two tiers, Enlisted and Officer, in 9 Enlisted grdes (E1-E9) and 10 Officer grades (O1-O10). E7 is fairly up there for enlisted but the lowest officer outranks the highest enlisted.
      That said, smart officers will listen to senior enlisted (E7-E9) since those are fairly experienced dudes.

      I got out after my first 6 year enlistment because I was tired of dealing with the federally-subsidized alcoholics. I enlisted at 17, never partied in high school. Well, I found out civilians weren't any better and joined the National Guard a month and a half after separating. The local unit had an opening for the same job I did on active so I just signed the papers and started showing up! 4 years later, I opted to not reenlist. Active wasn't taking prior enlisted and the Guard is just a different critter. If you get used to Active, the Guard might not be for you. That being said, the Guard took EXCELLENT care of me!
      TL:DR don't think running away from an annoyance will make things better. Separate if you want, but make sure it's for the right reason. TO something better, not AWAY from something worse.

    My g/f really threw them for a loop. She is 5’8” which means she taller than all the Japanese women & some of the Japanese men. She a vibrant natural blonde. While not being muscular she was very fit...runners body. When we would travel on a bus, train or the subway she was being stared at often. Children openly and adults surreptitiously. When he found out that I had done this, he actually FIRED my immediate supervisor for something really dumb and started doing his "malicious compliance." again.

      Japanese is actually one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn (more so than say French or Spanish). It has more common syllables with English than any other language. The only major barrier is the cultural context, in Japanese, you have to us a specific context for how you refer to somebody.
      For example, it isn't uncommon to refer to a long time friend as "brother" or "sister" despite them having the same genetic relation to you as a banana.

      Exactly! Also, I would have called her out on her racism, and to get her behind back to the 1950's.

    From what I've been told, where I live hiring employers are only allowed to ask previous employers "Would you hire this person again?" and all the previous employers are allowed to say is yes or no.
    I'm sure most places don't actually follow that, but it was an interesting thing to learn.

    "You can get in trouble if you give a bad reference"
    Oh, no! I gave an accurate reference!

    • @VulpisFoxfire

      Not in the hiring department myself, but I thought the rule was that if you're called for a job reference, all you can say is that they 'worked here from such to such'.

    • @rhysepoos
      @rhysepoos 3 года назад +3

      In the UK, a lot of people think it's illegal to give a bad reference - it isn't, but a bad reference has to be accurate. So it's unwise to express a negative opinion, but providing objective facts is fine - e.g. statistics on how often somebody was late, or how many written warnings somebody had received.
      But because of the concern about repercussions for giving a bad reference, many employers simply confirm the job title and employment dates, and nothing else. They'll usually state that this is their policy (otherwise you might infer that their unwillingness to answer your questions is because the employee was no good)

      Thing is, they couldn't say anything else because they had no real proof. So they had to get smart about it.

    In my opinion, Japanese is one of the coolest-sounding languages out there.

      It's one that my ear can hear and decipher as well. Some languages I just can't hear the breaks between words, but with Japanese I can.

    I've been living in Japan for the past 4 years and some of what that lady said was really hurtful. 😣 I can't even imagine what OP felt having that conversation in real time with that lady. 😟 Japan and its people are so wonderful (sometimes the societal norms can be a bit whack though). I can't believe Onna can hold so much hate in her heart for them.
