Yeah, there's a lot of red flags there. What annoyed me was how the dad was trying to guilt trip the OP when he had his daughter out not wearing proper clothing for that weather. Like, why didn't he at least give her a jacket or make sure she used the bathroom before leaving the house? And for point 2, I think you meant abusive.

arranged marriages also happen here in the states. my parents sold me out to a boy before i was even in first grade because his family had more money than ours. by the time i was in high school i had been in a relationship for 2 years which my parents told them was just "puppy love" and that there was no problem with the arrangement. that all came to a halt when I graduated and they told me it was time to get married. I told them there was no way I was getting married at 18 and that my bf hadnt even proposed. that's when I found out about the marriage they had set up. I went off on them and moved in with a friend for a while. a few weeks later, the asshole actually showed up at her house in a tux with a limo. when I came to the door I was in jeans and a t-shirt. he was pissed and asked me why I wasn't ready to go to the church. I told him that I wasn't religious and never go to church. he said it was time for our wedding and I laughed in his face. I told him if he wanted to get married so bad that he should try proposing to his right hand, as I knew that they had a very intimate relationship. my father called later, and was pissed. he had promised me to him long ago, and that it was my duty to marry him, and let him take my virginity on our wedding night. I told him "surprise dad. im not a virgin. I lost that when I was 15". Im 38 now and haven't seen or spoken to my parents since I was 18. I heard that the boy got married to some gutter trash whore, and that the family lost all their social standing from the scandal of a woman with self respect. I feel no pity or regret whatsoever.
For the story about the mom with cancer telling off the shit aunt, if you've ever had to see someone with terminal cancer, the fact that this woman had her coffee and toast while telling off her toxic sister was so uplifting, and honestly she sounds like a God damn BOSS
The OP in the first story should've called the cops and told them about the whole situation. Should've added that "I don't know if it could be the case but i think it might be a kidnapping because the child seemed scared."
@@zerodawn09 I'd forgotten about that detail, but yeah, more red flags than the fucking Soviet Union and China put together. At the very least, a parent so shitty CPS should've been called. At the worst, it was a kidnapping
Yep i thought so too. As the story proceeded i thought it was a kidnapping case but it took a turn and i hope it was really her father and that she went home.
The last story reminds me of that news clip where a kid had been shot BREAKING INTO a house... the kid's family was on the news COMPLAINING and blaming the home owner because the 19 year old 'child' that broke in was just, "trying to get some clothes for school..." Which was obviously not true, he was a crook... literally.. and even IF it was, then it was the FAMILY'S fault for not providing the kid with school clothes... I believe they also tried to sue the homeowner... people are actually INSANE these days..
I think I remember that new story. that was what, a couple years back? At the mom and a few other family members giving a news interview talking about how good the kid was and how they should have just let him do what he needed to do and not have shot him. Had a similar incident happened at a store a while back where this kid tried to rob the place and ended up getting shot buy another customer who was conceal carrying. That guys family had a very similar reaction of "you should have just let him take all the money now he's dead and it's your fault"
First story; jerkface needs to be busted and charged with felony child neglect and abuse. Taking a child out in any bad weather without proper clothing is bad all around. He needs a visit out behind the he wood shed. 🐻
@@jaram2369 It was all fine then it said he was in full winter wear and she in thin pajamas.... My instant reaction was to whip my head toward the screen and say 'hold up'.
I would have called the cops when they went to the bathroom, and checked them out slowly. Even if it was just a misunderstanding, and if she was actually his child, he's taking a kid outside in apparently freezing weather in nothing but pajamas while he wore a heavy coat. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
Wow, my first thought was that dad was just an selfish jerk that decided he wanted some snacks; woke his lil girl up so as not to leave her unattended, and rushed her out before making sure she was dressed properly. It's kind of scary you live in an area where that's the first place your mind goes to; I see selfish dad, you see Amber Alert
Yea but ud think that a kidnapper would want 2 not draw attention 2 themselves or their victim & a child ESPECIALLY 1 that young being dressed inadequately 4 the weather is BOUND 2 draw attention & possibly even phone calls 2 the police so my thoughts r that the ed was just a selfish ass who couldnt b bothered 2 dress his kid properly b4 dragging her out n2 the cold cuz he wanted sum snacks...eps DO often endanger their children w/ their stupidity & selfishness any1 remember the story where the em threw her kid n2 the deep end of a 20+ ft deep pool & pushed him away from the side & was filming her small child DROWNING & kept commenting on how he was swimming "just like a little fish" as her kid sank deeper & deeper rather than jumping n 2 save him then when she got yelled @ by the lifeguard she stuttered an excuse about how she didnt want 2 ruin her phone or clothes by jumping n
The one about life support pisses me off to my core. I'm a paramedic and as such have to deal with these idiots who jet in at the end to yank the DNR and force me to work the code (CPR, intubation, defibrillation, medication, etc.) against the patient's wishes. Look folks, I'm 100% for trying to save the person if they can be saved. I'll give you a piece of advice (one that is in my living will and advanced directives), If a doctor recommends a DNR, feel free to get a second opinion from another doctor. Please, do your due diligence and make sure that there is no other way. That being said, if the second doctor says to get a DNR, sign the damn DNR and DO NOT revoke it for any reason. I just worked a code the other day for this situation. The husband is primary caregiver with hospice nurse visits each day. The daughter comes to see the mom one day, and just happens to pick the day where she is actively on the way out. She calls us and demands that we save her, and take her to a hospital forty five miles away when there was one less than half that distance. Spoiler alert, she passed anyway because at that point, you can't stop the inevitable and you're just prolonging it.
Arranged marriage story: when Aunt started insisting, I quipped, "then you marry him!" OP said the same thing, stood firm on her decision, and set up evidence for legal trouble if they tried to force her! I'm so proud of her!

I may not have reddit, but boy do I have an r/Entitledparents story. Make that an r/Entitledteacher story. To give some context, I have a heart condition, and recently I've been having some medical issues like heart palpitations and chest pain. So my doctor prescribed a 30-day holter monitor for me. Sometimes the monitors have a rectangular shape, and SOMETIMES entitled substitute teachers consider such monitors as phones. I was minding my own business in class, when the entitled substitute teacher (technically an entitled parent since she has a son who goes to my school) spotted my monitor and instantly assumed it was a phone in my pocket. EST- "IS THAT A PHONE?" she gestures to my holter monitor. Me- "um, that's actually a--" EST- "GIVE ME THE PHONE!" Me- But it's not-- EST- GIVE IT TO ME NOW! I refused to let her have it. Reminder that the 'phone' is attached to me with leads and stickers, and taking off those leads are very painful. I kept trying to explain to her, but she wouldn't listen. EST- PUT IT IN THE PHONE BOX!!" she points to the phone box on the desk. That's when a good idea sparked into my head. I went over to the phone box, put the monitor in there, then stood next to the desk. A couple students started snickering, since they knew it was a monitor and not a phone. EST- See?? That wasn't so bad! You can go sit down now. I try not to laugh as I started walking away from the teacher's desk. As I did that, the phone box and the monitor came crashing down behind me. The holter monitor was dragging the phone box along the floor as I went back to my desk and sat down. Entitled Substitute teacher was perplexed by what she was seeing. She clearly wanted no part of my silly nonsense and physically tried to take the monitor away from me. "GIVE ME THAT" she tugged so hard, one of the leads almost came off. I wrapped one arm around me and took the holter monitor away with the other. "This is not a phone! It's. a. MONITER!" Entitled substitute teacher just gave me a look, then picked up the phone box and went back to her desk. I finally put the monitor back into my pocket and went on with my day. The incident did piss me off, but after I told my mom what happened, Entitled substitute teacher got into huge trouble with administration. I don't know if they fired her or not, but I sure hope they did.
I dated a first-generation Indian-American woman who at the time was getting her masters in psychology (she eventually got her PhD). She went to India to visit family (she spoke the local dialect). After a few days, she noticed men she didn't know being brought into the living room while she was reading, etc. having hushed conversations with her aunts while looking at her. It took a couple days for her to realize they were looking for a hubby for her. They weren't as bad as the aunts in the story, and she found it amusing.
*flips hair with a mocking smirk* My dad's the CEO of his company and is friends of the Mayor and the principal of this damn school. So basically, you should bow down to me since I'm SOOOOO much superior in terms of status. Teacher: Wow, that's amazing. Here's your math homework for tonight, 23 questions, and make sure to show you're work. It'll be due at the beginning of class Karen.
As soon as I heard the name ShyGirlTurnedSassy, I knew it was going to be a good story. I’ve heard a few of her other posts read by rSlash and they are epic.
That poor girl has been through a horrendous childhood of abuse, torment and ongoing bullying by people who just share the same blood as her. Her boyfriend and his mother are angels who understand the importance of young adults having the rights to choose their lives however they want. Those people need to pull their fricken' heads out of their rear ends and stop demanding their children to live the same oppressed lives that they want them to live and just let them choose their own lives and happiness. Their stagnant customs needed to die with their ancestors.
I work at Microsoft and I actually know a guy named Michael Smith. He is alright, but he is gay so... not really a candidate for an arranged marriage given the tradition is more heterosexual than not
6:40 An excellent opportunity for a rebuttal or turning logic around. Ex. That it is her right, as family, to force-feed the grandmother "for own good"
Well, that would also mean, she would have to take their advice too. I'm guessing she would let her do it, if the outcome was her accepting the match. Which is why she didn't eat anyway. So ... that logic.
Am I the only one that almost bursts laughing when rSlash actually curses, but censors it? XD Reason behind me saying that, 14:25 for anybody else that would like to accuse me of being immature, everybody finds _something_ funny, even if a little Do *you* expect him to swear? Would *you* even grin a little? Considering the type of person that rSlash shows himself to be, on RUclips, I certainly don’t expect him to swear and I’m always caught off guard
Macsy I legit believe I could explain it MUCH better than I already have, but would you expect him to swear (and censor, of course) what he did in 14:25? Plus, everybody finds _something_ funny, even if a little, while others don’t, you hopefully know already
I am from India, so once I was over 25 and still not married and single my relatives whenever I go to visit them came up with potential marriage proposals. They constantly remind me that my parents are getting older and it's my duty to give them happiness( grandchildren) which my parents never asked for of course. My parents are the coolest parents you ever asked for. So eventually I stop going to my relative's home, even avoid talking to them over the phone.
"family has right to make decisions for eachother" I made the decision that i will take your car and house and you will live on the streets. We are family so i can make decisions for you. Boom
I guess I went a little overboard with this (it was the end of a long night) but anyway, my cousin’s girl was sitting on a couch, in an empty room, waiting to leave (I say empty so you see there are several seats open) and the younger girl decides she wants to sit in that exact spot her sister is in. I couldn’t see what was going on but the older told her to go away. So then we hear crying (the younger one was a whine bag). Her (step)dad says she should have just given the younger sister her seat, since she’s older and “has to be graceful” I was like “eff that, she was there first, in a room full of empty seats!” And he tried to argue his point but I just turned to my great grandma and said “give me your house, Granny. I’m younger, so you have to be graceful and let me have my way.” I don’t agree with letting someone get their way because they are younger or cry more.
Idk they're good stories but she always embellishes them to a point that's a little cringey. You dont need to exaggerate a story about entitled parents, they're crazy enough on their own
@@gabrielmartin977 I really doubt she's exaggerating. I live in India and the stories I could tell. Arranged marriages are extremely common in the north and almost all traditional families have it in their heads that the elders make all the decisions for the children and that men were supposed to work and women were supposed to stay at home, have kids and cook. Not exaggerating.
@@gabrielmartin977 My mom teaches at a college and they have a rule that no religious clothing can be worn. Like habits and burkas. One girl was getting married to some guy and her inlaws and fiance made her drop out because he didn't want other men looking at her.( they were Muslim so her not wearing the burka was considered extremely disrespectful)
Stacy Winchester Dang. That is an extreme level of being Muslim. My family is all about hijabs, and even if you don’t wear them, we don’t care. It’s your decision
I feel shygirlturnedsassy has been on here before- not the grandma stories, I think she was the one with the entitled cousin who wanted her birthday gifts? Maybe?
Oooh the one about the arranged marriage! OP’s Dad was the real MVP at supporting his daughter and not forcing her into the arranged marriage! And congrats to OP for outwitting her aunt and grandmother!
I just lost my mom last week. I didn't even have power of attorney just designated as her health care advocate. She had a DNR on file with the hospital and I could have revoked it at any time and demanded life support and extreme measures be taken. When you have these decision making powers you can change anything once the patient is incapable of making their own choices. The story was wrong. Nothing is final simply because it's "on file". But, I honored her wishes, held her hand and said goodbye. You don't know hard until you have these decision-making powers given to you.
Personally I think if the person was in their right mind then nobody should be allowed to revoke it. Let the doctors fake it if necessary for the I can't let them go.
If they're in their right mind you cannot make decisions for them. Well, maybe with power of attorney but they could petition to revoke your poa if they could prove they were fit. Like I said, poa and health care advocate have decision-making only when the patient cannot make their own choices. And yes, the law, here in FL at least, allows the person making the decisions to revoke a DNR. No doctor in his right mind is going to fake anything for anyone, they're not going to risk their license and fines for you or me.
That dying mother's statement and when she and how she said it. A prime example of how when you've faced and accepted your impending death you found the ultimate liberation from everything.
I loved how they were in a serious conversation, and when the officer asked what to say to the parents he said "Do you like your delinquents regular or extra crispy?"
It's entirely possible that ED and QC in story 1 are victims of domestic violence. He may have had to pull her out of bed quickly to prevent violence against her. Which would also explain why they're both miserable. Everyone has a story. He might be having to find a hotel after stopping so she can use a bathroom. Horrible people tend to put good people in horrible situations. And good people in horrible situations tend to be in a bad mood because of it.
Its more likely he's the one abusing the daughter or he's kidnapped her. If he's fleeing a domestic abuse situation why did he have enough time to get properly dressed to go out but couldnt be bothered to even give the kid a scarf? Hell he could've given her his coat since adults are much less likely to get seriously sick than a small child
I highly, HIGHLY doubt that. If that were the case, he wouldn't be acting like such a selfish asshole, and would be doting on her, OR I DUNNO, GIVEN HER HIS HAT AND SCARF?!
It's possible but unlikely. Could be any amount of reasons for her not to be properly dressed and for him to be so grumpy. Maybe he had to pick her up from someone else's house (a friend or other family member) at a bad hour and far away and they didn't have a coat for her even though this doesn't explain why she doesn't wear his, maybe they had a fight and she's been refusing to put on her coat and he yelled at her but couldn't convince her and now they're both upset, etc. Still stupid that he wouldn't insist on keeping his child warm, but him abusing her or saving her from abuse is a stretch
HEY THOSE WHO THINK WE CANT STEAL!! I know my kids are going to be very entitled and poor so would you just let them steal your stuff already??!??!!??!
Karen: Let my kid steal from your yard, or I'll speak to your maaaaanagerrrrrr!! Honestly, this sort of BS annoys me. I remember my old school was quite old and had a flat roof and skylights over the changing rooms. Some of the kids went onto the school property at night (which is basically trespassing) and then climbed on the roof to commit some sort of vandalism. One of the little cherubs walked over one of the skylights and, being very old, it gave way and the boy fell through and into the changing room, impaling the underside of his chin on one of the coat hooks below. The fun part was that the little brat's parents sued the school for the kid getting seriously injured whilst in the property (even though he was there illegally) and they WON! I'm not sure what world we like in where criminals get better justice than the victims, but that payout that the school had to make to settle the suit meant they were unable to afford to repair the boiler, resulting in many closed days over winter while we were all sent home as it was too cold inside and the local authority fining the school for the number of enforced closures. So the computer facility that was being upgraded was postponed as well, due to lack of funds.
Terminal cancer story: imagine saying you're gonna use a call to prove someone is "killing someone for insurance" in said call 😭😭 Clearly this isn't the worst part, just on top of it all, the entitled mom/grandma is just plain stupid smh
The fact that the kid from the first story was in pajamas and looked scared makes me think she may have been kidnapped from her home. I truly hope that isn’t the case thoufh
I'm an Indian man , yes this Aranged marriage puts a lot of pressure I was always scared to go on dates or pursue my dreams in education as it would be inappropriate for the family's name. All of this has made me very scared of what type of a person would I end up with. Parents always guild trip kids into submitting to them. I'm 24 now and my parents have started to search for a bride ,I feel I have not lived my youth yet, I want to just party and travel fortunately I'm financially stable but i still have to secretly drink alcohol as my parents still treat me as a child, and yes since I live in a joint family everyone freaks out if I don't come before 10 pm .honestly all of this is suffocating.
9:43 as an Indian myself, i can confirm this. Though i dont live in india since my parents moved to a different country in my early life, i still know this and im glad that my parents dont act like this. At this point, india should make arranged marriages illegal.

When my Gran was dying, one of my aunts asked the hospital if they could make it so she died by the friday because my aunt was going on a cruise. Aunts are batshit crazy.
@@theOGTessTickle That wasn't the end of it. When my Gran did pass away, my aunt and another aunt went to the court and claimed her entire estate for themselves and said they were the only two heirs, despite my four other aunts and uncles, one of which actually lived WITH my Gran at the time and looked after her. They got it sorted in the end but nobody speaks to these two aunts anymore.
the sad thing with the indian marriage story is that this problem is present heavily in both rural and urban india and unlike op most girls aren't even aware enough of their rights so they get married off without getting to properly even have carriers they end up being housewives who just cook, look after children and some even are illiterate. OP was lucky that her father was a modern thinker.
The aunt who called OP selfish in the cancer story...wow that hits close. My grandma died from colon cancer shortly after my 8th birthday and my mom was her primary caretaker. We bought a house down the street from her home so that she could still maintain as much of her dignity as possible in her own home. Throughout the 18 months she was sick (her prognosis was 6 months but she was a fighter!) , we spent every day with her. Yet barely anyone else in my family even visited her. Her sisters, my great aunts have always been stuck up and handfuls to deal with. One day my great aunt was talking with my aunt (who visited and helped all she could) and made a comment about how they were "Babying" my grandma. My aunt said "She's DYING. She HAS CANCER" and my great aunt said "We're all dying. That doesn't mean shes going to be the first to go!" I've got many stories about them but man that came rushing back. There's a reason I barely speak to anyone but immediate family at this point.
12:07 if I was in OP's place, before hanging up, I'd laugh at her threat and end with "good luck with your so called "evidence"" (I'd be confident that with the aunt's tone, her evidence will backfire on her.)
*If the first stories logic made sense* *Then think of how much money ALL my family would be paying for my scoliosis and neck and ear and hip surgery bills would take a toll on the whole family*
Do they have retirement homes for elderly family in India? Seems like a tough family decision for OP to look into putting her Aunt and Grandmother in a home FOR THEM
That’s a real funny one at the end. Honestly if I was in that position and a local government was trying to prevent me from protecting my property, I’d bill’em for the stolen property and make the grievance known how much they were failing the community.

Yeah, I and apparently most of the people watching this were thinking the same thing. That was setting off alarms all over the place
Sometimes it's good to be suspicious
Things like this you shouldn't take chances
add in the fact op said they were a distance from any place. hes like that and shes like that in such a place? red flags.

@@GiordanDiodato That is no excuse to break into someones home. My family had no mone when I was growing up but I never robbed anyones house.

Omg! I was Immediately thinking the same thing! The description of the situation sounded so off!

@@_Fizel_ yep, exact same response here. I'm just really hoping there was more detail to the situation than the op wrote
Or an abuse victim
Gotta say, my first thought about the girl not dressed for the weather was that she’d been kidnapped 😬 Huge red flags there.
Oh, could be for sure..and the kidnapper complaining to a cashier during?? These days, I would believe it....🙄
Wow, my first thought was that dad was just an selfish jerk that decided he wanted some snacks; woke his lil girl up so as not to leave her unattended, and rushed her out before making sure she was dressed properly.

I'm a paramedic and as such have to deal with these idiots who jet in at the end to yank the DNR and force me to work the code (CPR, intubation, defibrillation, medication, etc.) against the patient's wishes. Look folks, I'm 100% for trying to save the person if they can be saved. I'll give you a piece of advice (one that is in my living will and advanced directives),
If a doctor recommends a DNR, feel free to get a second opinion from another doctor.

Hanna Burton wait what?
Me- "um, that's actually a--"
EST- "GIVE ME THE PHONE!"
Me- But it's not--
EST- GIVE IT TO ME NOW!
So basically, some dumb woman almost put your life in danger because she's uneducated?
@@justsomeone18026 yep
She should get educated and maybe never be a substitute teacher again
I dated a first-generation Indian-American woman who at the time was getting her masters in psychology (she eventually got her PhD). She went to India to visit family (she spoke the local dialect). After a few days, she noticed men she didn't know being brought into the living room while she was reading, etc. having hushed conversations with her aunts while looking at her. It took a couple days for her to realize they were looking for a hubby for her. They weren't as bad as the aunts in the story, and she found it amusing.

Well, that would also mean, she would have to take their advice too. I'm guessing she would let her do it, if the outcome was her accepting the match. Which is why she didn't eat anyway. So ... that logic.

My parents are the coolest parents you ever asked for. So eventually I stop going to my relative's home, even avoid talking to them over the phone.

Her (step)dad says she should have just given the younger sister her seat, since she’s older and “has to be graceful”
I was like “eff that, she was there first, in a room full of empty seats!” And he tried to argue his point but I just turned to my great grandma and said “give me your house, Granny. I’m younger, so you have to be graceful and let me have my way.”
I don’t agree with letting someone get their way because they are younger or cry more.

I'm sorry for your loss. Stay strong
Thank you.

Please call the cops, they would know what to do in the situation where you told them He's not letting my child steal
Your entitled parent voice legitimately pisses me off, even if I've heard the story before.
Good work.
I'd grab my child's coat before my own.

That doesn't mean shes going to be the first to go!"
I've got many stories about them but man that came rushing back. There's a reason I barely speak to anyone but immediate family at this point.
I like to think that in every story "OP" is the same person
Let's call him ajay
Me: far cry 4 ajay ghale
Same
Lol, yep, me too!
“Regular or Extra Crispy”... Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
"The cop laughed."
I like this cop. He's just like "OH MY GOD! These jackasses framed THEMSELF! HA! Classic!". :P
12:07 if I was in OP's place, before hanging up, I'd laugh at her threat and end with "good luck with your so called "evidence"" (I'd be confident that with the aunt's tone, her evidence will backfire on her.)
4:22, I'm a guy, and if my family did something like that, I'd be PISSED-Like she is an adult, she doesn't *have to marry anyone*
Porta potties are like green houses. The cold would not have been a problem for whoever was inside it.
*If the first stories logic made sense*
*Then think of how much money ALL my family would be paying for my scoliosis and neck and ear and hip surgery bills would take a toll on the whole family*
Shygirlturnedsassy has been on RSlash twice before, I remember that name anywhere...
Do they have retirement homes for elderly family in India? Seems like a tough family decision for OP to look into putting her Aunt and Grandmother in a home FOR THEM
That’s a real funny one at the end. Honestly if I was in that position and a local
government was trying to prevent me from protecting my property, I’d bill’em for the stolen property and make the grievance known how much they were failing the community.
