This is from the video tape of Cure promos before DVD. The first was called 'Standing On The Beach' and coincided with the CD 'Staring at the Sea', which had all the videos from the earliest up to the Head On The Door stuff, with bits between promos. The second vid tape was called 'Picture Show' and started with 'Why Can't I Be You?' and ended with 'Never Enough', and this was one of the inbetween bits between promos. Another tape, called Playout was also released and I want to see it again...
Would anyone ever believe me if I said I'd been looking for the name of this song, let alone who sang it, for over 20 years ?! It's always playing in my mind. Who knew after all that it was just one of my old favorites, The Cure?! Love them !!
I'm 45 & have had this on tape & CD... Since I was 9 years old...lol I had never looked on here & thought I had obscure song...everything is on RUclips now.... Point being you are gonna find rare Cure awesomeness! Look up Heroines Face...by Them!
The Cure are absolutely and undeniably a band that defines their era. Their collective talent, along with Robert Smith (!) is a classic band for the ages. Huge fan!!
@SweetSweetWaldo According to Join the Dots, Harold and Joe were characters on a TV show called "Neighbours", Harold Bishop and Joe Mangel. Simon liked watching the show, thats all I know. I have never seen this show because 1) I am from Canada and 2) I am 17 years old:)
I know of Neighbors because when I lived in Australia a bunch of these English people wanted to do a Neighbors tour. I was like, what the frock is Neighbors.
Nothing ever gets in my way Nothing ever gets on my mind Nothing ever makes me stop to think about Nothing of the kind Nothing ever loses me sleep Nothing ever wins my heart Nothing ever makes me want to sing along And nothing makes me want to start If i'm falling down a mountain Then i pick myself up If i crash into an iceberg I don't give a frightful look around.. If i am burning then i put myself out I'm so completely full I scare the world Oh all the world All inside out Just look around... Nothing ever puts me out Nothing ever pulls me in Nothing ever makes me want to jump And nothing makes me want to begin Nothing ever gets me down Nothing ever gets me uptight And nothing ever makes me run around And nothing makes me feel i might If i'm hanging from a peach tree Then i cut myself down And if i look into the sun I just turn up the sound And if i swallow deathcap loverooms Then i spit them right out I'm so completely full I scare the world Yeah all the world Inside out Nothing ever gets in my way Nothing ever gets on my mind Nothing ever makes me stop to think about Nothing of the kind Harold and joe Go go go Heroin joe Go go go... Yeah Sing boy Sing
if i look at the sun i just turn up the sound... i wrote down the part about "nothing ever loses me sleep. nothing ever wins my heart" and put it on my fridge. it helps me not care so much. keep things out. keep the cure in.
It's exactly as it is at the "Picture Show" VHS. They placed that between two actual videos. In short: it's just some footage sorted out. When you see the band performing on a stage, those are excerpts from MTV Unplugged - and not this b-side song, obviously. That's all.
@moremustardblog This video is from Picture Show, a compilation VHS released in 1990. It's not supposed to be in sync as the audio was layered over a compilation of video taken while the Cure were on tour.
if i look at the sun i just turn up the sound... i wrote down the part about "nothing ever loses me sleep. nothing ever wins my heart" and put it on my fridge. it helps me not care so much. keep things out. keep the cure in. oh, and i think this footage/song was on the picture show video. i also had it on a b-side (when they had those)
@Skellington383 Thanx! I need to get "Join the Dots." I've been a Cure fan since 1985. Some of their best songs were b-sides and rarities. "Sugar Girl" is another big favorite of mine!
Got this one on some EP/CD. Always loved this song. Massive Cure fan from day one. Only Cure song I still listen to. Used to know Lawrence Tolhurst a bit way back when. Been years. No clue where he is these days. Sad how a band so influential in their heyday becomes so completely irrelevant in a flash. Guess I'm showing my age. Oh well. ;-)
This is from a VHS video called Picture Show, it was between the promos for the new 'Close To Me', and 'Never Enough' I think, I could be wrong, I can't be arsed to look...
Interesting, I'm constantly finding little gems by the cure. Not one of my favourites by them (I'm not exactly sure about the singing) but I love how upbeat and interesting this is.
Audio is not out of sync - this is an interstitial clip from the Picture Show video with random live video in the back, unrelated to the song. Exactly the way it is in the original video.
@moremustardblog probably because it's not supposed to be a 'proper' clip, I'd say it was more in keeping with the bits between the singles on videos such as Staring at the Sea - The Visuals and The Cure - Picture Show. One of my favourite tracks by the Cure, this.
Q lindo d cure con Karol y Joe melodía dulce y a su vez profunda lo amooo ídolo nothing wings My heart eso cool burning My serlf ídolo atemporalllll q nivel nothing mesme feel Alice inside love
I love this one since it was released but I was never able to get it as at that time it was beyond my reach (student´s budget); I remember it came as the B side of Never Enough Single.
@moremustardblog yeah, it's from a bootleg copy of 'play out.' i got burned buying it back in 1991 or so thinking there was finally a live version of harold and joe. i forget the name of the boot.
and I won't even complain that this video doesn't match the song because like I've mentioned previously I was just happy to find it. I am happy for the little things.
the chorus ist a bit weak, and the whistling, idk if thats right either. Unfortunately this song has a weak minute between 2:30 and 3:30, otherwise this could have been an mega super epic Song. Its still a good song but feels like a big opportunity missed somehow
What's funny is watching a video and seeing a comment you, yourself wrote six year before but you have no idea what yourself was talking about.....WOW, what a trip.

How about " catch " ? Another great cure song you dont hear often
A great song...by a great band. One of their hidden gems.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
My lovely one!!!
Toll und Dankeschön 👋🏻🤍
I love it when Robert sings in his lower register :)
Makes me smile everytime I listen to this happy tune...Need more songs like this during covid days.
The Cure are absolutely and undeniably a band that defines their era. Their collective talent, along with Robert Smith (!) is a classic band for the ages.
Huge fan!!
Probably the most under rated Cure sing of all
it really is! wish they made more in this style and don't get me started on the voice. ofc his voice is fucking angelic no matter what
I always put Harold and Joe on to help me forget about all of life's BS. ;-)
You know it. Best Cure song ever.

Love this tune, wonder why it won't be allowed play on Spotify. ❤

Wow. Never got that before. Thanks for the 411. Have always loved this song, now I even love it more. Lol.

Always liked this one. Sortof hypnotic. ;)
This is hilarious! They are probably playing Never Enough while we get the Harold and Joe sound... very creative!
I had this on VHS. I thought these guys were just so intriguing.
the side b of one of my favorites long plays.ever

Again I say, Really?! How could I have missed this one?! Now I'm too old for it to be cool :-(
Dude, this song is always gonna be cool

Raise your hand if you heard this one in Breckenridge in 1992 at Downstairs at Erics. Looking forward to the posts

@moremustardblog That's how the video was in the laser disk where I took it off. Is not a live version, it's a kind of thing between songs.

I got the vinyl!
I hate ads, but at the same time am sad that this does not warrant such things. I love the cure fore ever starting '
85 (late to the party I know)
@moremustardblog Hi there... This not an actual video - it's a filler, extracted from the "Picture Show" VHS.
sûr suprime les meilleurs vidéos donc new album rob

This is the video they released for the song. It's a collaboration of performances with the song over it.

@ghaladgwaith In fact I think it is off Picture Show, right?
Who’s watching this in 1990?
me:-))
I wonder what Simon is discussing at 3:35
where was the practising filmed?
This is what real songwriting sounds like, kids.

Entspann dich Mann..
Did sum 1 say Simon in stead of Robert...The Cure...rules...PeAcE...
Who are Harold and Joe? Are those names just there for lyrical convenience?
🎩
this video belong to "the cure picture show"...
If any song can be described as 'uplifting', this is that. Is those. Is these. Is them. Is this. OCD? I think so.
@moremustardblog Sorry for my english.
The video is completely out of sync with the audio. Completely.
Roberth smith T_T
great B-side....for some reason i think he's making fun of people like Morrissey in the lyrics.
