"Towards the end at Miraval, " recalls Smith, "I was getting a bit stuck for lyrics, trying to finish 23 songs in a month, so I said to the others, 'please give me some words' Simon slipped some under my door, and they included the line 'all I want is summer.' That was the catalyst for me to write A Chain Of Flowers. it's essentialy a song about the awful fear of losing someone you love."

My husband took his own life on April 23rd, 2022. This has always been one of my favorite Cure songs, and now it has so much more meaning to me. This is exactly how I feel.

In their back catalogue. I always find myself coming back to this and the Big Hand, even This Twilight Garden… all worthy to be album tracks.

I would love to see The Cure in the R&R Hall of Fame because they are the greastest band of all time and deserves all the recognition for their hard work. No other band rocks out concerts for 3+ hours and sounds just like their records.

Trivia : This is the last song they recorded during the Kiss Me sessions. It came into being when Simon slipped a note under Robert's door with the lyric "All I want is summer."

one of my favorite cure songs
I've loved this song since it came out in 87 and it still gets me choked up and I get the chills. The subject matter is very difficult to think about when set to such incredibly beautiful music. I never want anyone I love to die, especially not the "one" for me. This song has to exist because it inevitably happens to so many and the loss is beyond tragic into the profound. Also, thanks for the lyric Simon it's one of my favorites!

I've been looking for this song for a long time. I only heard it only once many years ago at a party and no one there was even paying attention to the song. I couldn't find the host to ask the song. Everyone I asked didn't know this cure song and all thought I was mistaking the band and said it might be another band.I have no idea why it isn't more popular.

it used to be me, this twilight garden, adonais, tons of brilliant b-sides.
They should have been on their respective albums. These songs were far better than a lot of the songs on those albums.

El 16 de marzo de 2023, un hombre que amé también decidió quitarse la vida, nunca entenderé sus motivos, escucho ésta canción que me encanta y me hace sentir tanta nostalgia...
On 7th January of this year, 16 days ago, exactly, A friend of mine died, at the early age of 35 years old, leaving an husband and two little daughter.. Since it happened this song has been remaining in my head like a sad soundtrack of this pain moment. I have also dedicated it to my friend when I posted it on Facebook.

The beauty of being a Cure fan is besides the hits and fan favorites, there are too many songs to count that appeal to people for different reasons. Much like David Bowie, going back and listening to early albums, one comes away with new respect and love for songs that may have not resonated then.

Such a great Cure song. Takes months of listens to suddenly realize it's easily a top 30-ish Cure song (out of what, 230?!). It's very English summer fairy tale especially the part about the churchyard hide n seek game. Very Edgar Allen Poe.
